An Unchanging Reality (Take two)

"Yeah, it wasn't that he surrendered voluntarily. I think Dromet had alot to do with convincing him... well Dromet's sword did."

She takes a more serious tone, "How long ago did these attacks start?"

"Just about two weeks ago. They come almost daily, sometimes twice a day."

"They must have a camp nearby then. We should be able to track them back and get their numbers and make a plan for stopping these attacks," Dromet says.

[meemaas]

"Hmmm. Well, before you go off, would you like to interrogate the prisoner we captured? It's only fair that the honor goes to you three for capturing him."

[shugyosha]

Eophyn

"Yes, but can we see what the things we pulled off of him or any other gnolls first."

[meemaas]

"The other gnolls that were killed carried nothing but the weapons and armors they wield. It's always the same. The guard at the prison will have whatever the captured gnoll had for you.

"Well that means they are definitely within a days travel

[meemaas]

The captain looks down at the papers on his desk, thinking thoughtfully. "Well, i will allow you three to do what you came here to do. I have to figure out how to break the news to the new widows now." With that, he left his office, slightly sullen with his head bowed down.

Eophyn

She empathically touches the captain's shoulder. "We'll do our best to stop this," she says to console him.

Just as they leave she turns and mentions, "They might return to free our captive, captain. Please be careful." She turns back and heads to the where they are keeping the prisoner.

As Eophyn, Dromet, and then Serp enter the local prison, they come across a sight they didn't expect to see. The gnoll was dead, bleeding out, as the guard who had taken him in is pulling his rapier out of its chest, wiping the blood off of it as he did. He is facing away from the party, and doesn't appear to have noticed them entering.

Dromet sighed, then moved to grapple the guard.

Seeing Dromet take the guard, the young elf moves quickly to the gnoll. If it is still alive she'll cast a spell to save it.

As Eophyn closes in on the body, she finds that she can already tell it is dead. As it turns out, there were multiple wounds in the body, including a few in its heart. The man starts laughing, while in Dromet's grip, before he starts talking. "You should let me go. I only did what everyone wanted me to do." As soon as his last word is finished, one of his tattoos begins to glow, and his shape begins to shift a bit, as he becomes smaller, a claw forming in his free hand while he does.

Drawing her weapon she shouts, "You're out number and out match. Give up."

Serp draws his bow and silently nocks an arrow, pointing it at the man who had just murdered the bow, holding it until he was sure he was ready to attack.

As Dromet swings his blade at the man, he finds it stopped by a pattern that had formed in the air, apparently holding his sword back. It feels as if it has little substance, but it had enough to hold him back this time. The man slinks out of his grip, and with practiced speed, slips away from Dromet moving towards the door. He turns back at the party, laughing a little, and calls out to them. "Orders of the queen means little to me, children. I answer to a higher authority. And it is under that authority that i am not allowed to kill you today. So rest easy, today is not the one you shall reach your grave. Oh. And i'm hardly outmatched. I could kill any of you without a second thought." With that, he bolted out of the doorway, heading off in a seemingly random direction.

Dromet does get an AoO, the enemy used two move actions to move 60 feet out of the door, while avoiding provoking an attack from Eophyn.

You recognize the glowing of the tattoo as a something not quite magical. Your knowledge still allows you to identify it, as an ability called Minor Metamorphosis. Also, no charge he turned a corner.

Dromet

Dromet will give chase to see if he can spot where the man went.

Dromet and Eophyn follow after the guard while Serp (I assume) follows out the door with them to fire his bow. Eophyn chases him down and gives a quick swing, but he spins to avoid the blow and breaks into a run, yelling as he did. "Burt, they're trying to kill me!!" As if on cue, the big stupid guard you dealt with before entering the village comes out of one of the doors he passed, and seeing the three armed adventurers draws his weapon and growls.

"You no hurt my friend!!!" He yells as he stares at you.

So, Dromets AoO hit, go figure. But the other two attacks missed easily. He used the run action, running in a straight line away from you guys. He's got 120 feet on Eophyn, and i'm gonna assume Dromet is next to him, even if he didn't attack.

He did provoke an AoO from both Eophyn and Dromet, so feel free to roll those before your posts, and i'll let you know if you drop him.

Otherwise, you have a new foe, who is roughly 90 foot away from you guys, exitting a house. He is much more heavily armored than the guy you're chasing, and carrying a greataxe.

[Man on Fire]

"Chase after him, I'll deal with this one!" Serph yells at Eophyn and Dromet, and then readies another arrow, which he fires at the big guard, one acain aiming at the legs.

Things were going form bad to worse. She stops her chase long enough to shout, "Stop that man! He killed our prisoner! Stop him!"

As the runner flees, he slows down to a slow jog, one of his tattoos glowing as he turns down an alley and vanishes from sight.

The big guard doesn't even notice as the arrow pings off his armor, and raises his axe, charging at Dromet. "Burt smash mean people who hurt Burt's friend" As he connects with Dromet, he brings the axe down on his head in a mix of anger and stupidity.

She decides to throw a spell instead of using her blade. The spell streaks to weapon of the big guard.

Dromet swings his blade, but feels the recoil as his blade bounces off of the mans armor. Eophyn's spell then covers his axe, and as the weapon slides out of his hand, he looks dumbfounded for a moment. "You tooked my axe!! Axe belonged to gran'pa. I'LL KILL YOU!!!" In his anger, he starts to punch out at Dromet, his mind clouded by both stupidity and rage.
