Yes, halfway through that statement she switches to her adult voice. Same body though, just now with a fuller and more authoritative voice.

I forgot about those. I did remember to drop the horns and tail. But do tell me, why would I eat someone here? Mortal flesh is terribly tough.
As she speaks, the aforementioned fiendish tail and horns reappear.

Toby stares at Salix as he tries to figure out if she's serious. Then he gives Freddy a "is she serious" look. Trees can't move naturally, so I doubt I could teach one how to walk. No muscles and that sort of thing, you know. They probably count as inanimate objects, so maybe with a lot of arcane magic you could animate one...

"Because I was actually thinking 'vampire' instead of 'fiend', but that goes for sucking souls out, too. Are you just passing by or are you here to seek redemption?"

"I know trees can't walk. Freddie said a druid could teach him to, though." Salix looks disappointed. She was definitely serious. The rest of what he says sails right over her head. Arcane magic? Animate? She looks suitably baffled.

Culture is very complicated! But unless Jamie does an absolutely amazing job of explaining it, and probably even if she does, Keo will react in a very simple way that is to be expected of people her age. That is to say, probably rather young.

"Oh, I've had lots of those ma'am. Since catwomen vastly outnumber catmen, catmen were expected to come back once a season for a week to breed ma'am. So I have a lot ma'am. Well... had before the incident ma'am." Butler looks briefly sad at the whole catpeople war that caused the death of most all the catpeople he knew. But he recovers from that. "But they're rebuilding and don't quite need me for that purpose anymore ma'am." The levels are more equal right now. It'll take a few generations before they get lopsided again.

Not that Butler paid any care or attention to any of his kittens. That's not how the rather communal tribe worked and Butler really couldn't imagine doing it any other way. Throw them in daycare and let the nurses sort them out!

"Oh, I know how that goes. Jamie goes off on so many tangents it's all I can do to keep track of her sometimes," Quinn says, chuckling.

Reelshka's ears twitch as she remembers something.
Oh. I just remembered. Brinika said she's going to bring her parents to the campsite one of these days. I hope that's alright.

Jamie looks up, and smiles broadly at spotting Brinika.
"Oh, hey! What is it?"

Looks up? More like looks down.
Brinika flops down on the ground next to Jamie. Have you heard that Aunt Reelshka is your baby brother's godmother? She asks excitedly.

The girl dinosaur munches on the leaf. 'Rawr! Rawr Raaawr!"*Yummy! Two legs! Two legs! Where did you get these leaves? Huh? She roars as she tries to nudge Andy's foot.

Campground

A new crop of children has appeared here! Generally human, their ages seem to range from the first months of life to around seventeen years or so. They number around fourteen in all. The older children care for the younger, but they could certainly use help with feeding, clothing, and a place to sleep. Shrike has promised them asylum, but shelter isn't all they need.

The de-facto leaders of the group - the oldest, by all appearances - are Kenneth and Raira. A teenage boy and younger teenage girl, respectively. While Kenneth is currently trying desperately to keep the younger children entertained with some stories. It is rather unsuccessful.

Raira is wandering around on her own, looking for something to keep her busy.

Myrim, a marsh goblin who appears to be not much older, approaches the group of children. She's got green skin, shoulder-length hair of a darker shade, golden eyes and large ears, though not quite as large as one of Morty's goblins. In her neck are six gill slits, and her fingers and toes are webbed. She's barefoot, and wearing a simple dress woven from pondweed. It's rather short, so it doesn't interfere with her swimming. "Hello. I haven't seen you around before. Is there anything I can help you with?"

Raira, meanwhile, may find a bottle half-buried in the grass. It's purple, glass and contains a liquid that bubbles slightly- like lemonade, rather than ominous green glowing goo.

Moonless Midnight Where'd the Funny Titles Go?

Marty struggles are the tentacle thingys wrap around him. He can only growl out a few more harsh words as he feels the tentacles start constricting him in his various pressure-points. He keeps struggling but to no avail. "She'll f-find y-you! Quinn....w-whatever you're d-doing....I w-won't let you hurt anyone....Grawr!" He struggles once more before spots begin to appear and he falls silent. He's successfully stuffed into the armor and hidden. The goddess will be able to leave him alone and unconscious. However, after she is long gone, Marty's weight shifts inside the huge (for him) suit of armor. The armor falls down to the ground and starts rolling down the steep hill Marty was trudging up from when he met the goddess. He keeps rolling down until the suit of armor smashers into the muddy little lake he had been returning from. The suit falls into the water. Luckily, the water was not very deep and the armor wedged against a rock. Marty's head barely stuck out of the water and the armor lies slanted on the bank. He'll stay that way until morning. Perhaps someone could come across the strange man in the water?

"All the other dryads I've met had trees that walked around and I thought that maybe with some help Salix teach her tree how to walk as well?"

The Huldra's tone suggests that he has no idea how any of this works at all.

He just knows that he once saw a druid awaken a whole bunch of trees for the purpose of stomping some troublesome gnolls. And as such he figures that a druid would be the person to talk to!

Though...

Given what this guy is saying?

Indeed, someone does find Marty there in the muddy lake with his armor. And his prodding him gently with a stick to see if he's alive or dead.

Danae smiles back.
That would explain your horrible assumptions about me. I always come up as evil when paladins look at me. It's my heritage, and the fact that half of me spent the last five and a half years in the lower planes. I take more after my aunt than my fathers though. She's a priest of Ilmater.

Understandable. At least you didn't go straight in for the smiting. That's always annoying.
To make the handshake a bit less awkward (Danae, being 8, is quite short), the little girl grows (and matures) to her actual age of around 17 before shaking Quinn's hand. Assuming it's still offered after the change.

It is noteworthy that Danae is as strikingly beautiful as a matured woman as she is adorably cute (minus horns, tail, and fangs) as a little girl.
