"I know trees can't walk. Freddie said a druid could teach him to, though." Salix looks disappointed. She was definitely serious. The rest of what he says sails right over her head. Arcane magic? Animate? She looks suitably baffled.

Freddie nods to the 'is she serious' look!

"All the other dryads I've met had trees that walked around and I thought that maybe with some help Salix teach her tree how to walk as well?"

The Huldra's tone suggests that he has no idea how any of this works at all.

He just knows that he once saw a druid awaken a whole bunch of trees for the purpose of stomping some troublesome gnolls. And as such he figures that a druid would be the person to talk to!

Though...

Given what this guy is saying?

Maybe not.

Toby runs a hand through his hair as he considers it. Personally, I specialize in animals and people, not plants. I have a little knowledge of all Druidic disciplines, but probably not enough to give a tree permanent mobility. ...Don't see any harm in trying, though.

Yay! Salix will quickly lead Toby (and presumably Freddie) to the clearing on the edge of the grove, previously described here, where her tree resides. Once there she immediately goes to stand beside it. "This is my tree."

Well, I asked him to go with me on that party at the Gambling League of Gambling a while back... and things worked out pretty well, Reelshka says a little awkwardly.

Yay! Salix will quickly lead Toby (and presumably Freddie) to the clearing on the edge of the grove, previously described here, where her tree resides. Once there she immediately goes to stand beside it. "This is my tree."

A weeping willow. Salix babylonica. Toby then speaks its Druidic name for good measure. Maybe that will help. Okay, let me just figure out how I'm going to do this... He takes a pencil and a piece of paper out of his satchel in order to write down the spell to make the tree walk. And then he puts them back away as he realizes he has no idea how to go about making a tree able to walk. He doesn't know of any Druidic rituals to help, no scientific ways of making order out of chaotic natural magic.

Eheh... You know, being able to run isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Just ask Daphne. Toby sighs and his fedora turns into a green bandanna. Okay, just... just step back and I'll... try something. He places his hands on the trunk of the tree and begins channeling magic into it. He's trying to give the willow the power to move around, but is using his impressive willpower more than a reliable spell. There's only a small chance that this will even work. But it's still a chance.

Jit wanders up, having followed directions he got from some random NPC. He stops and focuses. Quinn (and anyone else with psychic capabilities in the building) may feel a mind touch theirs. The contact is brief, just barely being established before breaking off. Then he heads for the infirmary.

(Jit's just looking for familiar patterns. Even if the mind is guarded, the guard would be distinct)

Any contact with Quinn's mind might be somewhat...disturbing.
And she frowns a little as she notes it.
...before smiling and giving Danae directions to the Needle and Thread, located Inside!

Salix waits eagerly, but after a few moments, the tree doesn't seem any closer to moving than it's ever been. That's a shame. Though something far more subtle is happening. A bit above Toby's head, a seed cluster is rapidly growing. A moment later it falls of it's own accord, very possibly right on top of Toby's head.

"Is this a tranquiliser to apply to Toby the next time he goes into the madness place?"

I guess you could use it for that, if you want to stop his heart completely. It's for me. When I meet you, I'm going to need that. Badly. And don't worry about messing up timelines, for some reason my timeline is constant with itself. I gave you this all along.
