"We may be thinking about this the wrong way and....why are you throwing the box at the wall?"

He shakes his head, but doesn't really wait for an answer, leading straight into "I think we may need to get that box open, and this knife might actually hold the key. let me see the box for a while."

I take 20 on a search check on the box, looking at it inch by inch for about 2 full minutes. total search check is 29.

Also, i clean off the knife and inspect that, too.

Lothbrok, you hear the box strike metal before clattering to the ground.

Neldor, nice search check. You find that the box, like the dagger, is ornate and silver, and in a few clean areas, you can see that it is mirror-like and gives off near perfect reflections of you as you look at them. The locking mechanism on it requires a key.

I go over to the southern door, the one that's painted on but is still metal, and search for a way to open it, again taking 20 for a total of 29.

"So how did they take you down? I can't imagine one just...subdues a dwarf like yourself."

um...well i was in a bar and there was this orc thought he could out drink me so i thought i put him in his place, and by the gods i put that bastard under, but then i thought i could out wrestle his brother...lets just say that might not have been the best idea. anyway next thing i know im in a room that stinks like a damned elf amnd i' wearing this ridiculous outrfit

Inspecting it, you can tell that the door to your south is an actual door. All of the doors are, like the room, a smooth white stone.

You can tell that it cannot be directly opened from your side, but you still cannot see on your own what is on the other side of the door.

The spot the dead elf was lying upon yields no clues, just a few dried blood stains and the same smooth white stone that makes up the walls, floor, ceiling, and doors

Okay then, the elf has a circle of magical runes tattooed in black ink into her chest, but they're odd and distorted, nothing like you've ever seen before. The calipers symbol rests inside the circle.

Other than that, you find nothing.

the dwarf shouts in frustration and punches the elf in the face. he then sicks his head against the ground floor hole and shouts "oi you bastards i've got a secret! if ye let me out i'll tell ya all about it."

he stands up grabs the handle and puts his full weight on it while pulling on it as hard as he can

i try and push the botton on the south door by hitting it with the box. not throwing mind you just pressing the box against it until the botton depresses.

Assuming you take 20, you find them to all be solid stone

The ceiling is 15 feet high, and appears to be the same solid stone as everything else is.

OK, I'm back. Neldor would have been rather silent during that whole affair, sure that it wasn't a good idea but not willing to say anything. Also, he's trying to think.

Speaking up now, he says, "she cut her arms and throat. why would she cut her own throat? were the arms not enough? or...maybe something happens if we get a bit of blood on something?"

Ok, well i'll reach my hand through the west door, the one with a button beyond it, as far as possible and try to feel the back of the door for anything.

Lothbrok, just before you reach the wall, you hear an odd, pulsating hum before the entire room loses gravity for a brief second sending you both a foot or two in the air before you crash back down, feeling as though the entire room itself is moving swiftly but smoothly downwards.

After a time, you both hear and feel a thud as the room ceases movement. You hear four clicks, and the four surrounding doors drift slightly open, as though they had hinges.

"....ok. I dunno what, if anything, we did...but i'm not sure i liked that. still, change is good because she just starved in this room.

let's head west, to the room whose door has a button. also, I happen to know you dwarves can always tell how deep you are. if we're going down, you must be getting a sense, right? how deep down are we?"

After this small speech, neldor cautiously moves into the west room.
