Just in case you aren't checking the OOC thread, Packers... you need to make 5 Pilot checks for me with a +4 bonus in adddition to whatever else you get!

"Take it easy, Sergeant... I'm right here. So is Pegasi Delta.", Valen indicated by stepping forward and pointing to a sensor relay that depicted the moon on the far side on Bellerophon.

James chooses his flight path through Kainan's Belt and begins threading his way among the asteroids. Through all of his weaving and dodging, those on the Dawn Evader would not have known... with the ship's gravity generator keeping the floor as "down". However, in the cockpit Valen watches as the younger Spartan conducts a ballet, of sorts. G426 maneuvers delicately between two rocks moments before they collide with one another, sending a small shockwave through the ship. Soon, the field begins to thin considerably and it appears that it will be smooth sailing to the planet's orbit after you were free from Kainan's Belt. James deftly rolls away from an asteroid that ricochets off of a rocky spire of another larger one, and suddenly a small object appears from out of nowhere and thumps into the shields, just outside the bridge's window!

[Unbeknownst]

"What did I tell you about asteroids?"

Just trying to make it exciting.

[Erasmas]

James just barely saw what hit the window and slid past. It was the body of a Marine. Valkyrie chimes in.

"Was that...?"

"A Marine, yes."

Valen responds and stares unmovingly out the front window of the ship. It was as if he either didn't believe what he just saw, or he was looking for an explanation to hit the window second.

"And he was missing his head."

Sir, this most likely means the ship has supstained heavy damage and haul breaches, or it is already completely destroyed.

[Erasmas]

"Whatever it means... it isn't good."

[Unbeknownst]

"A headless marine floating in space doesn't mean anything good? I think we got that one sir."

[Erik Vale]

"Given the lack of debree. I would say the worst is assumable."
"You are so sweet. If right..."
"It would be safe to assume that large portions of the deckplans have been made useless. Any covenant presence detected?"

Already, Argyle's voice has begun becoming monotone.

Sir, should we have the sabers preped and ready for launch just in case covant presence is detected?

[DoctorFaust]

"Right then boys and girls, it appears you're going to be going in hot. Have fun, and remember that I can back myself up."
"I hate you so very, very much right now."

[Thump]

"Well, I'm already locked and loaded, and ready to go. Just say the word, Major."

[Erasmas]

"Good point, Ivory One. I need four Spartans to report to the Cargo Hold... a pilot and a gunner per Sabre. Be ready to scramble if I give the order."

Sir, Whats our next point of action?

[DoctorFaust]

"So we want people with good reflexes as the pilots and someone that's a good shot for gunner? As I am neither of those things, I volunteer for the boarding party."

[Erik Vale]

Argyle nods.
"This unit would rather avoid piloting for the moment, but will lend itself as a gunner if desired. Main tasks can be done remotely if non-preffered."

[Unbeknownst]

"Well, I'm a half decent pilot. I guess I'll grab one of the ships."

[Erasmas]

Valen replies to James as he crosses the bridge and checks a terminal.

"Orbit Bellerophon to the starboard side and come about slow and easy. Valkyrie... prep the cloaking device."

"Aye, Major."

After a few minutes, you begin to see your first glimpse of Pegasi Delta - a satellite of rusty colors, much like its planet. Although it had been terraformed by the Covenant who knows when, so it had obvious atmosphere... wisps of clouds and even their shadows could be easily seen as she slipped further into view. But it was what else that you saw that caused you more worry. The lone Marine hardly seemed like an isolated incident.

You see a multitude of bodies floating, too far away to see much detail. But what dominates the visage before you is that the Summer Storm is not alone. Nearby, there is a Covenant corvette floating, riddled with holes and carbon scoring… no doubt from the Storm’s guns. But the split-jaws didn’t go down without a fight. You can see a massive plasma charge of some kind must have breached the UNSC ship’s hull, almost breaking her clean in half. The scene was eerily quiet now.

"Val... cloak, now please."

Though there was no indication from inside the Evader, the ship faded from sight.

"Alright... time for volunteers is over. Valeria and Argyle - you are designated Sabre 1. Anex and Ceara - you are designated Sabre 2... Anex, you fly. I want Dante and Volsung on the Evader's two turrets. Jason - report to the bridge. Everybody move, move, move!!!"

[moomoo]

Anex immediately jumps up and runs towards Sabre 2.
Up and moving sir. Do you want us to fly in closed formation?

[Thump]

"Heading down now, sir."

The lights on her helmet beep red a couple of times, and Ceara begins to pick up the pace towards the cargo bay, heavy armor making loud clanks as she goes.

"Cannons are prepped."

"Cannons are prepped? Good."

"Checking missiles now... full load and ready to go."

"Check, check and... check. Anything else that I've forgotten?"

"You forgot to say 'Thank you, Mack, for being such a good AI.'"

"Heh, thanks. Also, thanks for the helmet check."

Nobody hears this conversation as she walks, so it sounds like she's talking to herself to anyone who cares to listen. She heads up to the Sabres, and hops in the one designated with a NAV point.

"Hell yeah, time to roll!"

With that, she boots up the gun systems, doing a couple of quick checks with the safeties all on. The cannons make a happy whrrr sound when the energy is given to them, and dies down as it is cut off.

I love that sound...

Jumping up and ramming on his helmet, Volsung takes off towards the turrets. "On my way now Major. Rho, full schematics for the UNSC ship, and any known lay outs for the Covenant corvette. After that, jack into the Evader's mainframe and give me an ammo count on the guns."

[Erik Vale]

Argyle nods.
"Reporting to the gun."

Argyle turns and jogs without further ceremony.
"Valkyrie, could you please upload schematics for standard covenant corvettes, Also, Valyrie, Gnomere, could you edit that plan and the plans for our ship, one edit for known damage and two edits for likely damage changes, they are needed for review. Onyx-1, it is deemed likely that salvage operations could be or will soon be underway by the covenant, if not demolition operations. It is deemed that should retrieval be undergone, a small unit would be best."
He almost sounds like an AI. Heck, Gnomere is more lifelike than he at this point.
"Also, would you remind this unit as to the common protocol as to salvaging from covenant vessels?

As you start to approach closer to the field of battle, alarms all over the Dawn Evader begin to sound. Red and amber-colored lights flash in unison with the noise and Valkyrie broadcasts.

"Heads up... we may have trouble!"

Anyone looking outside can see purple streams emit from the dorsal bay of the Covenant ship. There appears to be eight of them... and sure enough... eight nav points pop up on your HUD.

"What about the cloak?!"

"Apparently it was activated too late... they must have already detected us."

"Everyone out of the Cargo Bay - lock it down and open it up to let our birds out! Sabres 1 and 2... I need you in the air yesterday!"

[Erik Vale]

"Ship must be damaged but intact. Hopefully our own is playing dead. On point, time travel has yet to be perfected, but I am trying."
Argyle picks up speed.
"Valkyrie, Gnomere, having the Covenant predicted floor plans needs to be up on the priority list. Targets need to be chosen for maximum effect, with salvage in mind.
"Sir, I have linked with ships systems."
"Acknoledged"
Argyle begins quickly strapping himself into the Sabre as he runs through basic weapons checks, waiting for his pilot.

[Creed]

Dante nods and jogs off as fast as his armor allows, headed for the other turret aboard the Evader.
"Can't just find the ship and fly it home. Of course not..." the Spartan mutters under his breath as he slides into the turret, the streamers of purple light leaving the Covenant ship.

[Erasmas]

Valen readies himself and drops into the navigator/co-pilot seat of the Dawn Evader.

"Alright ladies and gents... we've got eight bogies, count them eight. They appear to be Seraph-class fighters launched from that corvette. We still have no knowledge of whether or not that big purple sonnuva b!tch is up and running... so give it some distance to avoid the range of most of their guns. Sabres 1 and 2 - engage at will and shoot to kill. R36 and X666 - you cover them when you can but I want you to keep those flies off of our back... this boat is our ride home."

When Jason finally arrives on the bridge, Onyx One points to a large display on the wall.

"E507, you and helping me with tactical; time to show me what was written in your file, Spartan. You're my eyes when my eyes need to be elsewhere."

Jason rushed to the tactical console, where he and Casey began examining the situation.

As soon as he sits behind the steering wheel, Anex feels the thrill of battle coming.
OK, time to go against my nature, nice and slow will not help us here, especially not with Trigger Happy here behind the guns., he thinks to himself.

So the decision is quickly made:
Make sure you fasten your seatbelts Ceara, since we are going head on into this, yeahh boyyy.

And he flies out, 3 clicks fore, and one up (I hope I'm doing this right).
