[Nexus] GLoG 82: So Many Babies!

Natalie flinches away from the confetti at first, surprised by its appearance. When she hears the question, however, she frowns and concentrates. Her skin briefly grows short black fur (apart from her hands, feet and face) before it morphs into brown feathers which do grown from her hands and face before turning into scales and finally into short brown fur which grows everywhere. "No. Thank you for trying, though." But as Natalie can't take her clothes with her, turning into a blast of confetti would be pretty annoying as most of it would be trapped in her clothing.

Rainbow calls back the confetti.
"Oh. I probably should have known that wouldn't have worked..."
She stretches slightly.
"It would have been cool to have another confetti woman."
"So...what do you want to do now?"
Maybe meet Natalie's other friends?

Jamie's Garden

If any of the caterpillars start nibbling on his leaves, Oddball will swing the blade the caterpillar is on down to his mouth and eat it. He'll only do so when Jamie's looking away, however; he doesn't want to upset her with this slightly spiteful nutrition.

Jamie happens to be looking away a lot, but she's careful not to put any caterpillars she thinks might find an Oddish tasty on him. However probably one or two get nommed while the Magical Girl has her back turned!

"We could go find Jamie, Salix, Tito, Lily or Brinika. They live here, and they're my friends." She doesn't mention Saera, Sarah, or Abigail as she hasn't seen them recently.

Jamie's Garden

Then Oddball only eats one or two when nibbled. Hopefully Jamie won't notice; not because Oddball thinks he'll be punished but because he thinks she'll be upset, and he doesn't want her upset.

D'awww...thankfully for Oddball, Jamie doesn't notice. Oddball does get a pat on the head once the gardening is done though!

They seem really attached to one another, don't they? Vidalia reaches for Penny and tries to lift her away. Maybe we should just place them in seperate cages, and see how they react?

Vidalia may get nipped on the finger for her trouble. "Rrrrrrrraaaaaaawr!" *Stop it! she says as she takes probably the first aggressive stance so far. "Rrraaawr Rawr! RrrrrrrrAAAAWRR!" No more picking us up! We don't like it!

And then spits at his face with such a tremendous force that the spit will most likely hit Andy.

"Oddish?" I think Oddball is asking as to what will be done next. Or maybe he's asking if she thinks it's going to rain.

Lakeside

"Hmm. Well, Brinika lives in the Mushroom Cabin, and I'm not one hundred per cent certain I know where it is. Salix must be near her tree; dryads can't get too far. Tito and or Lily are likely to be in the kitchen making something tasty for lunch and Jamie might be painting or gardening outside. Who'd you like to see first?" Natalie grins, but she's not entirely certain where everybody is at the moment.

"Oh? Gardening? Let's go see Jamie then?" she asked hopefully.
She did like gardening. Back at her school she was head of her gardening club!

"OK, follow me." Natalie nods and will head towards Jamie's garden. Unfortunately, I think the Bushranger has deadtimed for tonight.

This day was turning from dour to awesome!

And it's okay. I can wait for Bushranger. ^_^

[Salix's Tree]

Salix grins. "Okay." She turns her attention back to the baby bunnies. She lays down on her stomach and scoots toward them. When she's close enough, she very carefully scritches their ears one by one.

After a bit of this, she scoots back over to Vasi. "My tree has a baby too. Wanna see?" She has no shortage of stuff to show off it seems.

Vasilisa loves kids, and it shows. None of her interest is feigned, and there's no hint at all that she's merely humouring Salix by following her around and seeing the things that matter to her.

Bunnies! =3

Salix looks toward the bunnies one more time. "Bye bye." She then stands. "Follow me." The dryad leads Vasi back to GLoG proper and toward a different part of the shore than where they'd started.

Growing not far from the water is a small sapling. Salix goes right over to it and runs her hands through its leaves. "Here it is. I'm helping it grow big and tall."

More yellings!

And screaming. And lots of noise in general.

Freddie's ears are pressed tight against hisr head at this point. S'he honestly hasn't the faintest idea what's going on right now.

"Please stop yelling. You're terrifying him!" the Huldra yells back, clearly not very good at taking hisr own advice. "And..."

Their lord?

The demon fox glances off to one side a bit uncertainly. "...I... umm... I serve the Ardent Emperor. I don't remember who the Applehills worship..."

S'he recalls something about them worshiping stars who helped create the world? And something about a pair of trees. Lily was telling the story in her usual hyperactive way and she really doesn't recall all the details. Best to let them answer for themselves.

Main Cabin

Pansy puts a hand on Tito. "There is nothing to fear, son. The campground is protected." And then to the imposing pony she says, "We own no Lord. We are free beings here."

[Main Cabin]

The pony looks ready to snap at Freddie, for daring to tell her to do anything, but pauses.
Maybe you should try changing your approach?

She grits her teeth a bit, but remains silent as answers are offered to her demand.
Ardent Emperor and...no one? No, the former was a symbol of worship, not leadership. Something to be looked into later.
"You have no...you have no ruler? There must be one who speaks for your people."

All forms of government have a spokesperson of some sort, whether elected or no, right?

The angry aura around the mare has diminished, as she speaks, trying her very best to be slightly more calm, despite being very clearly agitated about something.

"We speak for ourselves," Pansy says. She doesn't consider the GLoG Council as actual leaders of any type. They don't actually lay down rules or give orders. They're just the camp caretakers. "If you need assistance, then ask. If we can't help you, we'll try to direct you to someone who can."

[Salix's Tree => Lake Shore]

Freddie gives a sigh of relief, casting a sidelong glance over at the young hobbit. This is quite a thankful thing as far as s'he's concerned. These people are hisr friends after all. And knowing that the children are terrified just doesn't sit right with himr.

The Huldra sits up a little straighter.

"Not as such, no. Just a few people who have been here longer than others."

"Maybe... if you told us what you need to speak about? Then we could tell you who would be best to speak to?"

Salix nods. "It will. There's lots of sun here and the dirt's good too." She has a good sense for these things.

This was already being irritating and bothersome and she doesn't have time for this.

The pony glares down at nothing in particular for a few moments, before straightening out and comporting herself.
"Very well then. I seek those with the power to act against crisis, or who possess the last known whereabouts of the unicorn Twilight Sparkle. It is..."
This is terrible and she feels terrible even thinking it.
"...likely that the former is more important."

Freddie's ears droop a bit.

Act against crisis?

That sounds serious!

"I haven't ever heard of anyone named Twilight Sparkle, unicorn or otherwise," Freddie replies after a few moments thought. "But I suppose Watchtower or Remnant act against crisis in case one crops up?"

That certainly sounds about right!

One of the Huldra's tails sneaks into that hollow in hisr back and fishes out hisr smart phone! Yay phone! "Remnant is the government in charge of the largest nearby city. Watchtower deals with things that threaten safety at large."

[Elsewhere and Elsewhen]

A certain something is winging its way through an incomprehensible syrupy sea, having caught wind a newcomer's arrival. A newcomer that has already been met, however briefly. That doesn't happen very often.

K'rax-Naggath lurks just beyond perception observing the scene unfold. Passing through the Veil and back into the material world will take a few moments yet...

"I dunno. It looks like it might rain," Jamie says, clearly thinking it's the latter.

And then she waves at Natalie and her approaching friend!

"I have only had dealings with Watchtower, and they are good people, and highly dedicated but they are few. If you require an army, you should speak to Remnant. I am afraid I have not met any unicorns." Pansy says. "This location is one where we assist civilian refugees from the city in times of crisis. Should we be making preparations now?"

[Lake Shore]

Salix nods. "It will. There's lots of sun here and the dirt's good too." She has a good sense for these things.

"Do you help Jamie with her garden? I bet you'd be really good at that." Vasi says.

"Ooh, I never thought of that. That's a really good idea. I should ask her if I can." Salix says. She likes this idea.

"Want to go and find her now?" Vasi asks.

"Sure!" The little dryad agrees readily.

"I dunno. It looks like it might rain," Jamie says, clearly thinking it's the latter.

Army...should hope it won't get that far.
The very thought of that is more horrifying than this already is.

The pony gives Freddie a strange look as the phone is withdrawn, before very slowly shaking her head.
"I hope to not require your nation's military, but I am unsure of this Watchtower's capabilities."
Threats at large, but they are few in number. Elite task force, perhaps? Sounds familiar, but doubtful it's the same...

"Tell me more of your land and its citizens, as well."
This is what her sister would do, isn't it? Gather all the information, plan accordingly, before determining what her available tools are.

Jamie's Garden

Oddball the oddish, a small, round, blue creature with five blades of grass sprouting from his head and a simple face, stares at the newcomers suspiciously. He inherently trusts Salix, but anyone else might be a danger.

He doesn't see Natalie because the angle's wrong and Natalie can't see him either.

Natalie is with Rainbow. "Hello Jamie! This is Rainbow, she's new. Oh, hey Salix and Vasilisa!" I can't remember if Vasilisa went by 'Vasi' or not when they spoke.

[Main Cabin]

"Well... This place is know as the Nexus. It's-" Freddie begins, only to be inturrupted by a very different voice.

One the princess might recognize from not too long ago. Though given how brief the encounter was it's just as well that she wouldn't.

"Really really silly! And strange. And whimsical! And weird. And exciting! And dangerous. And sometimes spoooooooooky!"

The voice doesn't appear to have any obvious source. Nor does it seem to be coming from any one direction. Judging from Freddie's reaction this is somewhat unusual and s'he hasn't the faintest idea what's going on.

There's suddenly a distinct feeling that there's something else nearby. Not necessarily something menacing or malevolent. But something very much alien and other. Luna may associate the sensation with very traumatic past events.

"Who... are you?" the Huldra asks hesitantly of... apparently no one.

"Me? Why I'm K'rax-Naggath, Warden of the Veil! Nice to meetcha! But I wonder who this pretty pony is? I wonder if she has anything to do with that nasty visitor who's been gnawing on the walls of reality lately?"

Luna may feel as though she's being scrutinized very closely now.

"Gnawmarks on reality's walls are reeeeally hard to buff out. Did you know that? It's true! And are you and your sister making more holes now? Should I expect more nasty visitors to come wriggling into my home through them? Hmmmmm?"

Pansy reacts quite sensibly to the sudden manifestation of spooky voices and alien sensations.

She scoops up her son in her arms and runs right out of the Main Cabin and off to the woods, where Pathfinder and his spirits can keep them safe.

"Hi Rainbow. It's nice to meet you." Vasi says. How old is the confetti girl?
