Ishmael Mk III

[planswalker]

"Yeah, yeah, whatever." The six of you pole a little longer and come to a large mud-and-twig dam.

[Monodominant]

Ishmael looks around somewhat uneasy. This was good and all but taken too far...

He wondered if sacrificing a beaver would provide the effect as well as a human or other victim.

[planswalker]

No, but one of the ones on this boat has a soul so dark it's delicious just to smell it.

[Monodominant]

Oh? Thats good to know... which one?

Ishmael projects wondering if he found his target for the day.

[planswalker]

I don't know. From where I am, the smells mingle. Your next revelation of devouring could allow you to smell them for yourself. If that's too slow, you could always try figuring out which one of these is so delightfully dark.

[Monodominant]

Ishmael looks at all of them wondering who it could be. He ignores the tiefling for now... he could have been lieing but most likely he wasnt.

[planswalker]

There are three humans and a half-elf besides him.

[Monodominant]

Ishmael wonders who it can be. Once again his lack of magical ability eats at him. From the simplest alignment detection to deep though reading there are so many things he could employ if only he could use the arcane powers.

Sighing he focuses at the job at hand. Assassin or not he was not averse to physical activity.

[planswalker]

As they approach the dam, the two guards say, "Get ready, men!"

[Monodominant]

Ishmael gets up and copies what the others are doing in an effort to fit in. Every now and then he looks around to the others trying to figure out if any of them seem to be hiding their nature or somehow pretending to be what they are not... just like him.

[planswalker]

The others are gripping their poles nervously, clearly intimidated by paddle-tailed rodents.

A few tense moments later, a dozen brown furry heads break the surface of the water.

[Monodominant]

Ishmael carefully draws his crossbow and uses the hat to make it appear much much bigger and more menacing as would befit Perry. He then waits to see what happens next.

[planswalker]

"Is Mr Foofoo Detective not wanting to get his feet wet?"

[Monodominant]

"You do realise I am carrying a loaded crossbow and am a deadeye shot right?" he asks whomever addressed the comment to him.

"Plus, these babies will get rusty!" he says with a wide smile pointing at his feet.

[planswalker]

"Fancy rich detective doesn't want to get his new silk socks wet. Leave him alone." the half-elf snarks.

Without warning, the beavers rush the boat!

[Monodominant]

Ishmael will turn invisible and then fire a bolt at one of the beavers.

[planswalker]

The other five prisoners swing at the beavers, keeping them at bay for now.

You down one of the creatures, but your disappearing act doesn't go unnoticed.

Both guards have pistols trained on you. "Okay, buster, who are you and what have you done with prisoner DiCardo?"

[Monodominant]

"Just cause I am a prisoner, doesnt mean I dont get to use my toys or buy new ones does it?" he asks with a leer

Bluff (1d20+11)[20]

[planswalker]

"Either drop your weapon or we open fire."

The prisoners beat back the beavers again, keeping a wary distance between the rodents and the boat.

[Monodominant]

"Okay okay. You got me... In any case, can we focus on the beavers before they capsize the boat and then you can arrest me or whatever..." he says calmly lowering his crossbow.

[planswalker]

"It's only a dozen beavers. Those five will handle it. You've then cut their day short. Congratulations."

[Monodominant]

"Spelndid. Glad to be of service to the city as always!"

"But what do we do with me? If I am competent enough to take out DiCarto as you seem to think I am not him whats stopping me to recruit these gentlemen and have you fed to the beavers? I am sure at least one of them is facing a tough enough sentence that getting one or two guards killed wont way in on his conscience..." he says with a conversational tone trying to bait the truly bad criminal.

[planswalker]

"Look here you smug little punk, I'll feed you and your smug-"

The other guard cuts him off. "If you could have done so, you would have done so instead of dropping your crossbow. Now just be quiet until we get back.

The prisoners have clubbed a half-dozen beavers and the rest are retreating now.

"Congratulations, boys! We're done for the day."

[Monodominant]

Ishmael goes invisible and moves quietly next to the guard that challenged him.

[planswalker]

As soon as you turn invisible, one of the guards throws a sack of some white powder on the ground.

"Nice try, bastard." he says.

[Monodominant]

Becoming tired of the man although suprised there was a sack of powder on a boat Ishmael uses his cloak to appear right behind him and proceeds to draw his dagger and place it at the mans throat.

"You were saying?"

[planswalker]

Before the man can answer, the other guard shoot you in the face for (4d6+8)[27]

"Okay prisoners, the one who takes this assassin down will have their sentence commuted and be awarded a bounty."

He shot me while I was holding his companion? Bastard! And guns do 4d6+8? Why the hell am I using a crossbow??!?!?!?!?!?

Ishmael is blooded and suprised. That had been pretty painful and accurate. He truly had not expected these guards to be as competent.

"Or you help me incapacitate two guards and then you are all free and allies to someone who took Dicarto down. Dont kill them though..." he says and breaks his invisibility seeing as he is covered in whatever that substance is.

He then promptly reactivates it again and now the powder on him also becomes invisible at which point he also hides at the corner of the boat.
