MCerberus, assume Silverpine dropped her off in the medbay as well before going off. Just so you don't get left somewhere later.

So are the Cirrus ponies re-synched with the regular timeline now?
When in doubt, use cute little dragons.

Re: [FWM] OOC 3: Eccentric Cheerilee
You know, I'm not really sure why this line here would be a thing. "Every vein, every drop of blood in Sandy's body lights up like a Hearth's Warming tree, pulsing with power."
Zippity's gang didn't feed him their blood, they speed up Sandy's blood flow. So Sandy's blood would mostly be his own.
His own weird magical special blood from way before this vampony thing. I think that is the case for that particular line.

Re: [FWM] OOC 3: Eccentric Cheerilee
The vampony blood already showed up on the detection spell; that was the stuff centered around his vital organs and originating from somewhere in his gut. The stuff regarding his own blood is something else entirely.
(Note @Kelvin: If you need more specific information from the dectection spell, let me know and I'll clarify if I can)I'm developing a game. Let's see what happens! Complex.

Now I think on it, what 'school' of magic is producing the power could be helpful. Charm, air, force, etc.
D&D is the only game I can think of (with the possible exception of Calvinball) where the only way to lose is by playing to win.

So. Cirrus crewponies.
Do you guys have any long term plans to stay in Bridle Shores?
I, for one, would actually like the Cirrus to go and have High Adventure! elsewhere instead of staying on in Bridle Shores.

I'm sorry to say that my posting rate will be staying at its relatively low level for a while. A combination of graduating in a few months, personal issues, and general exhaustion leave little time left for RPs. I'll keep myself to a post a day, but I can't promise beyond that.

Re: [FWM] OOC 3: Eccentric Cheerilee
Kelvin, I think you're kinda pushing it, there's a hostage situation and Thunderbolt's attack ruins the interaction for the rest, note how the attackers at most make defensive actions. Also that it was said that the helmet bended because of some locks, not that it bended open and let her attack.
Also, about the sword being cut in half, it was because the red earthie parried it with an enhanced sword's, you seemed to say it did at the moment so I don't know how is the sword ok nowExtended sig

Re: [FWM] OOC 3: Eccentric Cheerilee
A Hippogriff with superequine strength and a magical sword < unbreakable, unbeatable super-armor and unkillable mooks inside it and I'M pushing it? I'm attacking all of one opponent. One. Thunderbolt isn't fighting alongside whoever else, she's having a duel. If anything, this is protecting everyone else's interactions because they won't have to deal with Cthulhu's babies or yet ANOTHER crazy death machine.
And you brutally murdered the hostage, remember?
If the helmet bended in the direction she's pushing, that's an opening. And I mean bending at all that way. Point-side, blades tend to be quite thin. She needs an absolute bare minimum of an opening to get penetration.
Also, about the sword being cut in half, it was because the red earthie parried it with an enhanced sword's, you seemed to say it did at the moment so I don't know how is the sword ok now
'Ineffectual' was in reference to your invincible NPC's armor, not a successful sunder. Your action was a direct 'this is what happens', not a 'this is what I try to do'. I doubt you even realized that cutting the blade in half wouldn't work because it was also magical. My response was essentially 'shrug and move on to the next act' because we were having arguments over...what...three or so other things at the time?
Bottom line: No, no it isn't broken, because A) Steel doesn't break steel, to use a metaphor, and B) You didn't make sure it was possible or even phrase it in the manner of 'TRY' so much as 'I'm doing this, you can't stop me'.D&D is the only game I can think of (with the possible exception of Calvinball) where the only way to lose is by playing to win.

Re: [FWM] OOC 3: Eccentric Cheerilee
Nothing said the hostage was dead since the action was completely out of view for the rest of the players, I don't even know where you got that the hostage was dead.
Yeah I know she's not fighting along the others, but the attackers don't even know that, and considering the situation I'm trying to put a situation for the others to actually react to, and having her just plain inmediately go against their demands even if it's not part of their group just plain ruins it, it's like having a vengeful rifleman shooting kidnappers, he may not be a cop, but the kidnappers won't care, they would just shoot the hostage anyways.
As for the stab, it didn't bend all the way, look at the paragraph, it just starts to bend, swords aren't THAT thin, even less for a plate with chainmail below, at least not thin as to stab there without it being negated by the chain mail, though maybe that would be my mistake and should've detailed more about the bending part
About the sword, what I said was:
"her sword would be in half too after attempting to trip the Earth mare, who would parry the hippogrif's attack with a magic-enhanced sword block"
After attempting to trip that would happen, you could've said that "Thunderbolt twists the sword away after seeing the sword enchantment", that would've made it slightly more understandable, it's not "steel cuts steel", rather it's "absurdly sharp steel cuts steel", also, your character was the least ineffectual against them, what with spamming non-counterable, armor-piercing lightnings at them and controlling an entire storm above the fight area when everyone else are mostly regular guards. There were ways to avoid that confusion that would have been a little more descriptive about Thunderbolt's actions in the roundLast edited by Luka; 2013-02-05 at 01:01 AM.

Re: [FWM] OOC 3: Eccentric Cheerilee
Terribly sorry, but this
Leaves oh so much room for interperetation.
Not to mention this:
also that the one he was trying to save got stabbed and everyone forgot about it

”absurdly sharp steel cuts steel”
And now we’re back to the oh-so-fun ‘no YOU’RE OP’ part of the discussion.
also, your character was the least ineffectual against them, what with spamming non-counterable, armor-piercing lightnings at them and controlling an entire storm above the fight area
The problem is in the dynamic, which I’ll get to after I quote the rest of that sentence.
when everyone else are mostly regular guards.
An Earth Pony with a sword that can cut through anything, apparently
A mage who can summon multiple massive solidified darkness tentacles
A Pegasus who canmagic-explosive stab
Two unicorns, one with a magic spear, both most likely with exceptional training…
And every last one of them has armor that:
*Absorbs magic
*Shocks anyone who tries to mess with it
*Is completely invulnerable to anything and everything except for lightning, which like any good metal it conducts fine
So please excuse me while I enter sarcasm mode, here…
Clearly, this is a very fair fight.
Okay. I feel better now.
Look, Luka, I like you. You and your characters/plots are engaging, charming and fun. It just feels like our conversations are becoming formulaic after each action. I’ll do something, you’ll block it, I’ll bring up how that wouldn’t work, you’ll bring up how it could, etc etc. And while, yes, my PC’s in engagements thus far have indeed appeared (even to me, and significantly) to be quite a bit overpowered, it’s because I feel like they have to be. Otherwise, every engagement would be a curb-stomp battle and another point for Team D.
I’m looking for ways to change the formula, but what I’ve come up with is going to take both of us, and I think it addresses the main issue: We need to stop trying to win. Our problems so far look a lot like they’re coming down (and I’ll admit this for myself, personally) to ‘I refuse to lose, and I’ll use everything I can think of to prevent it’. If we can work together to get out of the mindset of always winning, I believe we can make a more enjoyable experience for everyone.
Will it be tons of fun for us all the time? Probably not. Let’s face it: Losing sucks. But every fight has a victor, and most often the fight decides, not the fighters. And that's the way the cookie crumbles.D&D is the only game I can think of (with the possible exception of Calvinball) where the only way to lose is by playing to win.

Re: [FWM] OOC 3: Eccentric Cheerilee
I will speak on this point alone. Losing can be fun. The only difference is how you approach it. Stop treating this RP like some D&D game where your objective is to obtain XP, gold, lootz, winning fights, whatever. Instead, try to treat this like a story being crafted by multiple participants. Losing or winning is immaterial, because the story is being crafted, either way.
My characters hardly ever win. (See: Silverpine, Team Guard, Shell Shock. If you read the archives, Icy didn't have everything go her way either.) But to me, that's fine, because it advances the story in some way or lets them have character development. The Seal Team Six who showed up to the fight, only to get brutalised badly? They're there for a purpose: to show how common guards are outmatched and also to show they were determined to protect their town despite the odds. (Not to mention I just like playing badass normals.)
I admit though. I am beginning to think I swung too far to accommodate some of you. (Looking at you, Luka.) The line has to be drawn somewhere, and playing this RP with the goal of having fun and enjoying the roleplay instead of winning would be a good start.
