Re: A Thorn In The Hand OOC
For some reason, that doesn't really reassure me.

Re: A Thorn In The Hand OOC
Raif's move right? I have X-2 Orc down, rope holder Orc's successfully grappled, and Great Axe Orc is attacking elf 1.
What square is Great Axe Orc in now?Spoiler

Re: A Thorn In The Hand OOC
He's in G6.
Ox2 is still up, but not looking very well. The rope holder is starting to darken in the face. Ox1 is reloading and Oh is not looking happy (and might be looking even worse soon seeing as he has the two main melee characters surrounding him).

Re: A Thorn In The Hand OOC
OK, thanks. I can't find a description for Celestial Badger, so I'm guessing that for Combat purposes it fights as an ordinary badger.
Edit: After all that, by my reckoning, the Orc takes no damage. Btw, we're not flanking the orc, are we?
My other plan was to heal Elf 1, but I figured that even if Raif did, the Great Axe orc was likely to finish him next round anyway, as he would still perceive the Elf as the greater threat, whereas if Raif and Badger attacked him, they would draw his next attack.Last edited by Wordplay; 2012-10-24 at 09:46 AM.

Re: A Thorn In The Hand OOC
@Wordplay: No, your not flanking him. Also because you failed both your Ride checks you don't actually make close enough to actually attack .
The badger did hurt him though as you always do a minimum of 1 point of damage with a successful attack.

Re: A Thorn In The Hand OOC
@Malak'ai: Yeah, I figured that would have happened.
Btw didn't I only fail the first check? I thought guide by knees was a DC 5? Not that it makes any difference - failing either one would be fatal to the attack. I just want to make sure I'm clear.Last edited by Wordplay; 2012-10-24 at 06:35 PM.

@Malak'ai: Oigh. No good. I'm just hoping that same bad luck applies to the bad guys as well.

Re: A Thorn In The Hand OOC
Well we had a fairly easy time against the goblins. Though I have to say, in both combats the misses people have had with bows at short distances don't quite right...(I mean, legally they're correct, you'd just expect bows to be better).
By the way, where is the Orc camp in relation to the map?Spoiler

Re: A Thorn In The Hand OOC
@Wordplay: I know what you mean, it's almost as if the roller doesn't like ranged attacks .
As to the location of the Orc camp on the big map (IC tread, page 21, post #616), the start of the small map which is T1 (IC thread, page 22, post #646) is at I13 (hopefully you can understand that).

Re: A Thorn In The Hand OOC
Wordplay, shall I go for the other bowman then? I can probably hit him and another nearby Orc with magic missile. I want to save Blinding Color Surge for something nasty like those other two bigger Orcs.
Edit: after Verossa goes of course. Initiative and all.
Seriously, I only beat the rope holder. How sad is that?Last edited by Arranis Thelmos; 2012-10-24 at 08:39 PM.

Re: A Thorn In The Hand OOC
@Arranis: I think so - my thinking was that if you get the other bowman it will limit them disrupting our casters and also draw aggro away from the elves. Verossa and Elenora can tank Hammer Orc, and probably finish him next round. Hopefully rope-holder will be finished by Elf 1. I'm hoping Great Axe Orc will either go for Raif or the badger (preferably the badger), and Drayner can finish Crossbow orc 2. Of course, Crossbow Orc 2 will still get off a shot, but hopefully they'll be shooting at us (who are heavily armoured) instead of at the elves (who aren't).
If Elf 1 is wounded again, but survives, Raif heals him, if he dies, Raif attacks Great Axe Orc. If GA Orc attacks Raif (or badger) instead, then Raif either fights back, heals, or casts sanctuary, depending on how bad the damage is. Anyhow, that was my thinking.
You could alternatively aim to finish off Crossbow Orc 2. That gets one Orc out of the fight. The disadvantage, is maybe Crossbow Orc 1 decides to pick off the elves...Spoiler

Re: A Thorn In The Hand OOC
I hit the first archer Orc for 3 damage, so maybe those elves are still in a spot of trouble.

Re: A Thorn In The Hand OOC
Well... The roller liked one of the Orc's rolls... Just be glad it wasn't the one that caused any damage.
@Machuchang: Phew... Lucky Valor, that would have almost have taken him out . I think you might want to consider getting him some barding...

Re: A Thorn In The Hand OOC
@Malak'ai: Yeah, barding would be a good plan. For now, I at least have mounted combat to try and negate a hit, but that's not gonna cut it for long.
Also, not sure if it was intentional or not, but I love you for that "mare inches" pun in the IC thread.Last edited by Machuchang; 2012-10-25 at 02:47 AM.

Re: A Thorn In The Hand OOC
Verossa, now she's out of threat range of Hammerorc, will probably move to join the fight around the prisoners next round if it looks like Eleanora can handle it. She know Eleanora does the "honourable single combat" thing, and Hammerorc's already cut and way outmatched by Sir Dame alone.
The Elves, on the other hand, might get hurt if they don't get lucky soon.

Re: A Thorn In The Hand OOC
@Marlowe: I think that's a good idea. Elenora should be more than capable of taking out the hammer orc, and I'm worried about Elf 1. It seems like overkill having both our best melee fighters/tanks on the same orc.
If Verossa can attack either Rope or Axe Orc, then Raif can either deal with the other one, or potentially cast support magic. Miali and the other elves should be able to swarm 1st Crossbow, and potentially one of the other orcs.
OK, back to the beginning of the initiative order.
@Simba: Your move. Hopefully that will be one less orc to think about (fingers crossed).Last edited by Wordplay; 2012-10-25 at 05:41 AM.

@D_Man: I'm sorry, please don't hurt me *Hides under his bed* Wow... I found my slippers... I was looking for these all winter!
Also realized I stuffed up Orc crossbowman 1's attack roll last turn. Didn't matter, it would have still missed Verossa.

Re: A Thorn In The Hand OOC
Alas, you said it flew wide, so I didn't get to do her SM stuff.
Have not yet decided whether:
a, She's genuinely a Sado-Masochist
b, She just makes a point of saying freaky things in combat to unnerve the enemy.
c, Both of the above.

Re: A Thorn In The Hand OOC
Yeah, still would have only come to an 18 so it would only just missed, like, feeling the wind of it's passing on your cheek type miss.
I think option b would be the safer one to go for, but then again, sado-masochist's don't actually have to be evil.... Hold on, that doesn't sound right in D&D terms... Let me just go find my BoVD...
