Pirates of the Aether

Gadashon levels his pistol at the advancing horde, but he jerks the trigger just a hair too hard, and the gun jerks wildly, sending the bullet into the wall of the alley.

Flying above the wights Bellamy draws his wand and begins the incantation to summon an animal to help in the fight.

Skye steps into view. "I am no one's servant girl! I stayed her of my own free will, helping Doc with his invention. Never once did I share a bed with him. And, sir, I am no rabbit! I am a Viera and proud of it." She said a little more angrily than she had intended. "Now, let's go track down this vile dead walking thing and destroy it. It and any others it has made. But, after I get my gear. Meet me by the front doors." Skye makes her way to her room and grabs her already packed bag. "Gramps always said to be ready to leave at a moments notice." She also grabs her rapier and pistol. The last thing she grabs is a parchment with a picture of a woman who looked like Skye. She quickly rolled it up and put it in her pack. "Here we go, Mum."

Aimari does what she has been doing to undead ever since she's started regularly meeting them. Which is blast them with fire. Often.

Fiery Burst

Aimari raises her hands, and her arms glow with the untempered rage of her fire as it hurls itself down the alley.

Burned out husks fall to the ground, and the smell of burning rotted flesh fills the air. More of the wights turn down the alley to charge at the oncoming firestorm.

'Me apologies ma'am, I mean nae disrespect'. says Kieran to Skye, but his eyes are wandering about the room, looking for any threat, or any advantage that they can use.

Two of the wights move forward and slam thier arms against Gadashon.

But the uncoordinated nature of the Undead works against them, and they end up flailing against each other.

Kieran is able to hear something out in the woods, but he cannot tell exactly what it is. And since the Doctor has already left for his 'secure location' he did not hear your request for direction.

Gadashon

The pirate does his best to avoid the attacks of the damnable creatures, having seen what their mere touch was capable of against the lady Aimari. Gadashon then attacks with his cutlass, trying to fell one of the two that had gotten so close.

'An' I'm sorry tae say this ... but it looks like ye an' I are goin' tae have tae fight our way out of here'.

A wolf appears in the midst of the wights and immediately launches into an attack. Bellamy immediate begins to summon another beast while Bruce launches into a sweeping attack over the heads of the undead.

'Ahh, blast. They should ha' known better than tae do that'.

Kieran begins to search the mansion for the members of the Doctor's household...keeping an eye out for a laundry room, or any wights while he does so.

Aimari, pleased with the results of their fighting so far, hurls another two surges of flame into the remaining undead, aiming them perfectly so they collide and explode into a fiery explosion that wraps around the wights. The smell of charred flesh, already strong, is further strengthened as the fire licks across the dead skin of the beasts.

Skye comes across Kieran as she nears the front door. "Captain! You made it. I think Doc and the others got out. He's got secret passages all around this place." She checks her gun, then holsters it again. "C'mon, we gotta find Caryl and, well, do like the Doc said and kill her. Cuz, if half the things my Gramps told me about dead things is true, it'll get a whole lot worse."

'Good tae see ye Mistress Skye. I checked the house o'er but I couldnae find anyone, or owt'.

'I take it that Caryl has been turned already? Best we stick close together - I hope ye can fight. I've got ye back if ye've got mine'.

'Best if ye lead on - I dinnae have a clue where I'm goin' lass'.

Kieran keeps pace with Skye, pistol drawn, and cutlass at the ready.

The wights continue trying to pummel Gadashon, arms flailing at angles that would not have been possible had they still been alive.

Gadashon recoiled as one of the creature's talon-like fingers clawed into his calf. He felt woozy, light-headed again... it was possible that it could be from the drink, but this felt... different. He took a staggering step to stabilize himself before shaking the feeling from his head as much as he could. Then, gritting his teeth in some emotion between frustration and determination, he slashed out with his cutlass at the one who had struck him.

"Weren't ya listening? Oh right." Skye says, then remembered that Kieran hadn't been part of the whole conversation. "You're mate must of done somethin to her, she wasn't breathin and she was paler than death itself. Course I got your back, captain. Now we best be off, no tellin' what dead Caryl could be up to."

Kieran thinks for a moment.

'Our best shot is tae sneak up on him if we find him - fer heaven's sake, dinnae try tae attack him head on. Just last week I saw him melt a woman with a wave of his hands. 'Twas a piteous sight tae behold'.

As the wolf fades away another appears in the same place and immediately attacks of the wights clawing at Gadashon. Hoping to keep them occupied with the extra targets Bellamy uses his wand to summon another while the bat sweeps round and snatches at one of the undead.

Without more than half a thought of what she was doing, Melanie flew off, radiant light flaring behind her.

Leaping from building to building in a mad dash across the town, Erin tries to track down the source of the flames burning out of control in the city.

Laughter echoes in Barty's ears as the horror of what his magic has wrought dawns on him. Not my magic. This is not mine. The laughter turns to a mad cackling in his ears.

Aimari, hands blazing, blasts wight after wight as her hate overcomes her.

Her cloak turns to ash as flames erupt from her arms, and bolts of red fire lance out to skewer dozens of wights.

Gadashon continually reloads his pistol, blasting at wight after wight that comes close behind the pair. Bruce and Bellamy provide what support they can from the air, but Aimari is a maelstrom of hate and fire.

Aimari's tattoos ripple with inner fire, and her hair ignites as a large crowd of wights charges down one of the main avenues toward her. With another blast of fire, She blasts the wights with enough force that the street beneath them cracks open, falling through to the sewers below. The falling rock and earth collapses down again, crashing into the mines that run the entire length of the island.

A huge cloud of dust billows upward from the scene, obscuring enough of the view that none of those rushing on to try and find Aimari and Gadashon can see into.

'So Mistress Skye ... where are we headed?' asks Kieran, as he keeps a watchful eye on the gathering darkness around them.

Skye takes a brief moment and looks back at the captain. "The only place this road leads to, the city."

'Hmm... I've heard undead are running amok'.

'Do ye ken a way we can get tae the docks without goin' through the city? Or even somewhere where we can hole up 'til the morn'.

'I'm pretty sure me crew can deal with them - if they follow me orders...

On the other hand... do ye ken a place where could get up high?'

Gadashon

The pirate chokes and coughs on the dust and ash, waving his pistol-wielding hand back and forth before his mouth in a vain attempt to clear a bit of the air. He peers through the aftermath of Aimari's ragestorm and spots her still-glowing outline. Moving to her, Gadashon reloads once more before stowing away his firearm.

Approaching cautiously, he calls to the young woman, "M'lady Aimari? It is done, now... you have saved us, for the time being. Come, we must go."

[Snowfire]

As the cloud of ash and dying flame vomits into the sky, Melanie finds herself caught between worry and duty. Or perhaps more correctly, two duties now at odds. One to Kieran, her friend and captain. And the other to the protection of all. Thoughts flash in her mind, but Light sweeps them away, and she spins in the air, light flaring around her as she raises a hand towards the sky.

A shard of infused crystal hurtles into the heavens, exploding high above in a shower of sparks - easily within view of the Gambit's crew. Another bursts forth, then one more again, lighting a trail in the sky towards the fountain spray of dust and death. Melanie knows who's probably at the heart of that. She just prays that it's not what she fears - and if it is, that she won't be too late.

Erin dashes from rooftop to rooftop, searching for the bursts of flame he believes to be from Aimari, and hopefully by extension, the Captain. Through each jump he flares out his wings to get some more air, cursing that they haven't grown to be able to support his full weight in the air as he has read of other Dragonborn being able to do after maturing.

Let him out of my sight for one minute, and he gets Melanie creating a distraction and bolts. And now this, whatever in the name of the Nine Hells this is... I just hope he's alright when I catch up to him. He'd better be...

He stops running as he catches something in his eye that was even bigger than the blasts before. As he slows down on the top of the roof, he eyes it curiously, his scaled brow furrowing.

Sparks? And they're pointing towards... Thank you Melanie. Be safe.

He smiles and sets off in the direction the sparks are pointing, the blasts that he wasn't sure were Aimairi's yet.

And you'd better be safe too by the time I get there Captain. Or else.

Skye stops dead in her tracks, the captain almost running into her. She looks up to the sky and sees sparks exploding. "What in the seven levels of Hades is that?"

[PersonMan]

Aimari stands up slowly, stretching a bit to clear some soreness from her arms, shaking some ash from her hands, flames following the movement. As Gadashon approaches, she looks over to the man, eyes glowing from within and from the reflected light of the flames around her.

"Indeed. I don't intend to spend long down here," Aimari replies, looking around, unimpressed by the cloud of smoke and whatever she can see of the mine. "Let's go, then," she continues once she can see a clear path.

Kieran looks up, his attention drawn by Skye.

'Melanie...' he breathes...

'No idea what the lass is up tae...I hope she's nae run intae any trouble...'. Kieran looks up at the sky for a moment.

'If it's alright with ye, I'd like tae head fer that light'.
