Re: A Thorn In The Hand IC
The Tiger lets out a loud growl as it's eyes seem to come back into focus, glaring straight at Mailali, coming out of it's crouch, claws extended again, jaws opening wider and wider.

The beast swipes and snaps wildly at the Elf, one set of claws just digging into his arm. This hold is just enough for the Tiger to pull the fighter in closer, closing it's other paw onto his other arm.

Grapple check for Maiali:
Spoiler
20? He needs a 16 for that...
Maiali gets no AoO against the tiger to prevent a grapple, right?
Ok, here we go: (1d20+4)[20]
A tie.....ouch, this goes to the tiger, he has the higher modifier. This will hurt a lot!

**You're right in the fact that Mailali doesn't get an AoO, the Tiger has Improved Grab. And you were sooooooo close to beating it! **
The Tiger, finally getting full purchase on the Elf brings it's hind paw up, the smaller claws out as it rakes them down Mailali's chest.

Crit Confirm (if required): (1d20+9)[12]

Re: A Thorn In The Hand IC
Minserien grimaces as he watches the Tiger starting to maul Mailali, raising his bow to take a shot, but not wishing to chance hitting anyone else, he turns and runs north, through the spell broken crater in front of him. Moving from O1 to G1

Re: A Thorn In The Hand IC
The damage was bad - he must have been seconds from expiring. He'll need one more to put him out of danger...
Raif's about to follow Halabur to finish stabilising Rochenion, when he sees the tiger pin Mailali. Blood streams from gouts in its flanks, and Raif catches the strong animal scent of the great beast. Though Mailali is clearly a strong elf, and he almost seems to writhe free, Raif sees that the tiger has him pinned.
Confronted with the scene, Raif makes a snap decision.
Raif dismounts Filofax before the horse can bolt, and swings his mace at the cat, shouting 'THIS IS MY FLOCK, BEAST'.
Raif shouts the first thing he can think of; trying to draw the tiger's attention from Mailali.

Re: A Thorn In The Hand IC
Drayner begins looking around, at a loss as to what to do realising that he could hit his team-mates if he tried to attack the tiger, and without line of sight to the mage, he is in a bit of a bind.
Taking a deep breath he looks around waiting for the mage to exit the fog while moving around the fog, moving to 8-E.

Halabur shrieks when he sees the tiger maul Maiali and pulls a new wand from his robes and fires it at the tiger. "Hey! Pick on someone your own size!" He shouts as electric charges cover the wand and fire at the beast.

SpoilerThe trench looks to be about a foot deep in this area.
Halabur:SpoilerYes, you'd still have to make a melee touch attack. The wands still have the same range as the spell that it contains.

Re: A Thorn In The Hand IC
The Tiger, with all it's weight on Mailali, draws it's rear paws up with the smaller claws out as it rakes them down the Elf's chest while also trying to tear his throat out with his front paw.

Re: A Thorn In The Hand IC
Still pinned under the tiger, Maiali clenches his teeth and summons all his willpower to keep from panicking. He keeps up his desparate defense, hoping against hope that his friends will kill the beast before it kills him.
Spoiler
Maiali is at 5 HPs...
AC stays at 18, fighting defensively. I rolled a will save for him and came up with a 15, high enough for me to keep him from losing his focus.

Drayner:
SpoilerAs you move closer to the fog bank you see nothing but the glow coming from the magically created mist, though you do hear the scraping and crunching of slow, deliberate foot steps coming from the upper edge of the fog (from around the F18 area).

Re: A Thorn In The Hand IC
Spoiler*Seeing (well hearing) as I think he's so close can I change my action from ready to attack, to summon swarm a little bit behind the sound, inside the fog? (Swarm of bats)? It's fine either way, it just seems like a better tactical decision now that I'm close enough to the fog to use it.*
(60ft range, standard action, summon a swarm of bats that lasts until concentration endsLast edited by D_Man_7733; 2012-12-17 at 06:49 PM.

Re: A Thorn In The Hand IC
"Now I have you" Drayner mutters quietly under his breath before dismissing the energies forming in his hand and makes a few symbols and utters a few dark words, causing some screeching to be heard from inside the fog, the screeching that is familiar to most as the screeching of bats.
Spoilersummon swarm:
Summons a swarm of bats in a location within 60ft away.
AC 16
Swarm attack +2 (1d20+2)[17]
1d6 damage. (1d6)[3]
Qualities of swarm:
Distraction (Ex)
Any living creature that begins its turn with a swarm in its space must succeed on a DC 11 Fortitude save or be nauseated for 1 round. The save DC is Constitution-based.
Wounding (Ex)
Any living creature damaged by a bat swarm continues to bleed, losing 1 hit point per round thereafter. Multiple wounds do not result in cumulative bleeding loss. The bleeding can be stopped by a DC 10 Heal check or the application of a cure spell or some other healing magic.
Blindsense (Ex)
A bat swarm notices and locates creatures within 20 feet. Opponents still have total concealment against the bat swarm (but swarm attacks ignore concealment).Last edited by D_Man_7733; 2012-12-17 at 07:03 PM.
