Shade wait for the group to teleport away in a flash of light before descending the building tot he streets. Welp.

Before moving away she takes one of the direbots severed heads. A little insurance in case the GPS signal from Remembrance doesn't come though (most of dirte bases are underground, peripherical and cloacked in Shade's knowlege of the woman).
She wonders if she should have pointed out that Dire being a supergenius, if you manage to track her easily, chances are that she wanted you to find her. Hell for all she knows, the mad genius may have only stolen the gem to get Daedalus attention in one of her little date deathtrap. Oh well they look competents enough; given her current situation, Shade isn't sure if it's something to really wish for too hard, but likely they'll survive whatever. But hopefully with Dire and Daedalus move/hate relationship and mountain size ago...that should provide some distraction. Hopefully long enough.

Shade walks to her bike. Maybe she'll get a quick trip to the 'Pool' to stock back on gadgets but she's kind of pressed for time, thanks god she didn't use too much in the Otaku fight.
Before starting she looks up her PDA, browsing league files. 'Frontliners'. hum, creation date, known members (no Remebrance or Air Ace in there, she really should update these more often), latest acts, strength, motto.. ah there location. Just a simple adress, building office, hum. base probably hidden underground and cloaked if Ddare take after his grandmother, something even more outlandish if the staff is any indication, and who knows what kind of techy secrity devices no doubt. Shade isn't completly unknowlegable in those domains, she can crack an electronic no problem if needs be, but she might be out of her league here.
Shade starts her bike and to head to Astro labs. Well you can alway fight genius with genius.

As Rycon's efforts affect only the throne and a few minor systems within the base Dire seems almost about to laugh when she sees the message on the screen and her Dire bots unaffected . . .

Then she slumps over unconscious in her throne . . .

A well built young blonde man heads for the door as Shade knocks on the other side. The door of one of the many laboratories of Astro Labs, this one currently belonging to Professor Alexander Leeds, or as Shade knows him Robert Asterion.

As he opens the door he sees her still a little battle damaged from Remembrance and Otaku, but only a few nicks and maybe a bruise

"Wow, you okay Silvia, you look pretty beat up, what happened? Rough night? What do you need?"

~ The Dire Base ~

It doesn't take long for the seven heroes to awake but it's enough time for Dire to escape, but not enough time for her to properly shut down her entire base, especially after Rycon's disruption to it earlier.

It seems in typical silver age villain style she's taken her Dire Army with her wherever she is going, abandoning her lab and base behind her. You get the definite impression that Dire is smart enough to know she couldn't contain all of you, at least for an extended period, so didn't waste the effort.

"Rough night, professor. And it's only starting I'm afraid. No rest for the wicked" she smiles faintly before taking a seat. With all the exitement she almsot forgot how her ribs achedf rom that mecha punch.
"I'm sorry I really wish it was a social call but I need somme expertise in a hurry."

"There's a very dangerous device in this city. Timey wimey, something from Tomorow. I don't need to tell you how dangerous that can be. It's in the hands of a small group classed the 'Frontliners.' And it could be used to alter the timestream with terrible effects." she let a second of pause to let it think in. "The thing has a 'Culdis-Class Flux Capacitor'." Shade do airquotes to really show she has no idea what that is. "And it can't be destroyed without provoking some massive damage and I don't want to risk defusing it without knowing what I'm doing. Besides it may be necesary to keep it intact for later. It's complicated." she gives an apologic smile before gfinaly going on to the point of her exposition.
"The leader of the frontlinner is a supergenius named Dare, related to Dire. And Daedalus Dimensional shenanigans she shruggs " I don't know if he's acting by himself, or if he's being manipulated by dear old granny but I can assure you we're not going to like the results if he got through with it. He's got his 'grandad wrapped around his little finger so no help there; Oh and 'coincidently' Dire herself is on the move. She stole some kind of gem. So the league and Aegis are going to be busy, I'm not excpecting lots of help here.

With his pedigree, I expect whatver security they have to be devious. I may need some help cracking it. But mostly, I need a way to isolate the thing when I get to it. Preferably move it or teleport it away without being able to traced. don't know the size of the thing but i'd expect it to be pretty large. at least the size of a truck, minimum.
I realise it's a tall order but i've seen you do miracles before. Think you can help me here ?"

Dare sits up and gets his bearings. Dire got away, of course. Just be glad she took all the bots with her. "Alright everyone, I think it's time to get back to base. We just have to figure out how to manufacture a Dire-lock from scratch, figure out if the mysterious Daniel Sword is in the past or future, make sure the time machine is in proper order to get there, and hopefully prevent the eternal reign of Empress Dire. I'm up for suggestions at this point."

Remembrance levers herself to her feet with her quarterstaff. Ava's healing is perfect, as always, but it always felt awkward using muscles and nerves your body knew were unusable just a few seconds ago. "We need to go after Dire first - it doesn't matter if we can build time machine parts if we wake up tomorrow in Diregrad. This base looks mostly intact - can any of you hack in and see if you can find her backup base?"

Wiping away everyone's injuries, Ava picks herself up off the ground. Looking down, she sighs wearily, the dress being pretty much ruined by now. Finally taking off her heels (which are broken now, anyway) to continue on her bare feet and ripping the lower part of her dress a bit so she can actually move her legs more freely, she turns to the group afterwards. "What Remembrance said. Ashley, would you be so kind?"

Rycon struggles to her feet as she wakes up. Ava's healing helps her recover physically but doesn't fill her with confidence after the failed attempt at hacking the base. "Ugh..." She mutters quietly to herself as she uncomfortably tries to take a look around. When she hears Remembrance's suggestion, Rycon hesitates a bit. "I... Could but I don't know what I can find without triggering any sort of death trap or screw things over more than I already have."

She takes a deep breath and begins scanning the base's databanks. There has to be something of value here, right? Rycon feels that she has screwed things up really badly to the point where she can't possibly believe she can do worse when she tries to help out. She graduated Claremont for a reason; she can do this.

The price of Ashley's failure (and impulsiveness) was unpleasant, yes, but that was with an army of robots surrounding them. She heads over to Ashley and briefly touches her cheek before putting the hand onto her shoulder. "Ashley, live and learn. Dire is a formidable opponent, after all, one that shouldn't be underestimated. But I know you can do it. You know you can do it." Confidence has been Ashley's greatest weakness and Ava has worked hard in the past to help the girl overcome it. If she can help, Ava won't just stand by as she falls back into her old habits.

Robert for a moment seems hesitant, unwilling to go back into that world, then. . . he nods.

"I'll help. We should leave immediately. Every second counts during something like this,"

he grabs a few pieces of equipment and places them in a courier bag he slings over his shoulder

The electrical signals of the machines ring out to Rycon like a static hymn as she refiles though stored information . . . until she finds something of note . . .

Dire's time machine is advanced, wrist mounted, allowing the transportation of only one individual but inaccurate and power greedy, it will require 1.21 gigawatts to activate, even for a single jump, to give a sense of scale, it is approximately the output of a single pressurized water reactor at a nuclear power plant.

Like the main power station of Freedom City . . . which is within flight range of Dire and her army . . .

Oh . . . Ashley thinks . . . C***.

"Told you, no rest;" Did he even need to ask. Although sometime it would be nice to have a normal day of work and a normal night of sleep rather than prancing around on rooves, saving the widow from time travelling sewer mutants and beating the dealer selling crack to the orphan. Well, they say you get plenty of rest int eh grave but for some strange reason, sahde can't help but feel this may not be so for everybody. And at any rate hse's not willing to find out, hence...
Shade lift herself up. "Oh I'd definitvely say 'time is of the essence', yeah."

And one little break in into the building manager office to check any mention of the name Cole and Iris to find the exact rented office and one easily diffused silent alarm (The most vicious foe of them all How, cunning of you, DR Dare) later, the duo is on the second floor, in office #2.12.

Rycon scans the area until she finds the information she needs. 1.21 gigawatts? That's an insane amount of power... And unfortunately where to get it is right where the devilish female villain is going. "...Uh oh," she says worryingly. "Crap, Dire is headed to the Power Plant to fuel her jump through time. We need to get there and stop her!" She looks to each member distressingly. "I can teleport everyone there, just give me the "go" signal!"

A moment later, Rycon looks at Ava, her therapist. Rycon looks very embarrassed as she speaks to Ava. "Thanks Ava... It's just I feel I haven't been as useful as I can be. I've done so much in Claremont but going with the big leagues among all these heroes makes me feel less adequate for the standards that I feel are pressured on me."

The Frontliner's Base

The small two room office has a reception area in the front room. A simple logo across the front of the reception desk says "Frontliners: Fighting For The Future!" Going into the main office, you see that all the office furniture has been done away with in favor of a round portal on the blank wall.

After activating it, you go through and find yourself in an odd series of softly lit white rooms, where the light comes from all directions. The first one is obviously the command center, with computer consoles. There's a state-of-the-art medical facility, a bunk room, a library, and a workshop. Fully operational, it appears to be soaking up plenty of power, and yet it wasn't even connected to a plug on the outside.

In the final room of the base, you find a large hanger, with the object you were looking for: an odd, silver-colored oblong vehicle, something a bit like a cross between a mini-submarine and a flying saucer.

"You've done many great things, you've shown that you are more than adequate time and time again. As you will today." Ava sometimes just wants to hug Ashley, but decides against it. Well, at least in public, for the girl's sake. Remaining in contact with her, she adds. "And go."

Shade takes a long look at the logo "Fighting for the future"
"By trashing the present ? No thanks." Shade comment bitterly before stepping into the dimensional part of the base.

"...A bit underwhelming to be honest. My bases's bigger and I had to cut budget since I started paying allimony." Shade comments as she advance in fornt of the professor, making sure there isn't any hidden traps or security systems waiting.
Maybe the Tardis gave her the wrong idea but she was expeccting something more outlandish and well.. just downright bigger. For a an organisation occupied with policing whole timelines. and has no doubt enormous funds and technology at their disposition, who would have though the time keepers were such cheapsakes ? "I like the smooth retro design, though."

"A sixites Silver saucer, really ?" Shade looks into the hanger below. Given the look of it's successive owners, she was expecting more of a fifites golden rocketship. she hands five bucks to Robert having lost her bet before descending a ladder to the hznger floor. "There it is., professor"

"Note to self. Don't pick fight with robot horde." Emily sits up with a groan, stretching gingerly. Some ice packs would be nice, but at this point not being a grease spot on the base floor was enough.

At Ashley's panicked announcement, Air Ace jumps up and shouts "Great Scott!" Seeing nothing but blank looks staring back at her, she shakes her head and sighs. "What, do you people not have Back to the Future here? A world without Marty and Doc Brown? This is a cruel and unnatural place... Jake would never stand for this. No wonder this timeline's all screwed up..."

"Well, come on, then. Let's save the world. Again."

~ All But Shade ~

*FEWOOOSH*

There is a gust of wind as the seven heroes re-materialize in the center of a parking lot at the center of the power plant, zapping out of a nearby telephone pole.

They've beaten the Dire Bots here but the team has no idea how long they have.

A few of the staff coming off their shift start walking through the parking lot towards the heroes

"Um. . . excuse what are you guys doing here?"

One of a group of about a dozen questions.

Robert steps inside the vehicle and remains within, virtually silent, before finally emerging with an odd crystalline device, about a foot long, in his hands

"I removed this, I'm pretty sure the ship won't work without it, I'm 99% sure it's the power source, well that or a lava lamp. What should we do with it? We can't destroy it, that's for sure, no telling what would happen."

Doctor Dare

Dare looks around slightly dazed. "You know, I don't think I'll ever get used to that mode of transportation."

Snapped back to the present by the power plant employees, he turns on his best PR voice,"Oh, hello! We're the Frontliners, and we have reason to suspect that Doctor Dire is headed this way for a major heist. Is it possible to shut down the plant quickly and safely? Nevermind, I'll figure it out. I do recommend a temporary evacuation."

Turning back to the team, he is serious once more. "Alright. If we don't manage to stop her here, we'll have to try our original path to prevent her becoming the Empress in the first place."

As Doctor Dare shoos away the employees they point him towards the main building where the primary control room for the nuclear reactors reside. In the distance the team can make out a dark cloud that is 350 shades of grey.

The Dire Army is coming.

It will touch down in about a minute.

"yeah, a 'devastating temporal implosion'." Shade quotes from memory of what Tomorow said "So yeah we'd better hold on it.
...Hum, that crap isn't radioactive isn't it ?" Shade sounds a little uncertain as it kind off occured to her that a shinny rock that serves as a power source may be something you may not want to handle with your bare hands or be in the general viccinity off without protection. "Maybe you could try finding a containement of some sort in that lab of theirs ?" Shade doesn't mind risking her life to save the timeline but tradding off a certain death twelve years in the past for a cancer twelve years in the future doesn't sound so great, tho.

"I'll take care of the rest. I'll drop you at my place you should be safe there in the meantime. I'll try to call Tomorow to get rid of this as soon a possible." Shade expalins as they walk outside the frontliner base before she checks back ont he GPS device Remembrance handed her. She is at "The power station ?" Either Dire is getting very bold with her choice of base location or things are happening, likely the later. "Okay. gotta move."

As always, Emily's response to the sight of the incoming army is dignified and eloquent.

"Oh, %&#@ me sideways."

She shakes her head and pulls her blaster from its holster. "OK, fighting the bots head on is a losing proposition. We're gonna have to funnel them into a space where numbers can't hurt us as much, or go right for the boss. Um, Ava, or Dare? Vagrant? Remembrance? Anyone who isn't me? You still have a way to pick the real Dire out of that crowd, right? Cause otherwise we should probably get inside. Like now."

It takes Robert a few minutes but he manages to wrangle up a briefcase that should shield any radiation that is emitted by the device but admits he hasn't detected any yet.

At Shade HQ, the 'Penumbra'

Not truly a 'cave' per se, a two stories underground parking lot actually she managed to buy at a reduced cost and as little paperwork as possible after yet another attack had pushed the previous owner to leave the city fast and refitted and reworked. A find. She added some internal walls, a working power structure and lights, etc... in ten years, between additions and works, it has evolved from it's original bare bone origin to a rather respectable base.
Currently Shade walks though the 'central' room to a corner where stands... a big Barney effigy ?

That silly looking thing is actually a killer exo suit, a courtesy of toyboy. That guy was a nasty piece of work. Makes Otaku almost look normal in comparison. With a hand she pats until he fins the part where the purple fabrics can be pushed aside to reveal the metallic body under and the entrance trapdoor. It's stripped from it's internal components but she kept the chassis as a souvenir. She has a few here and here to decorate the HQ, the dire bot's head will get a nice place on a shelf once she makes sure it's stripped from any component that could be used to reactivate and track it.
Alongside there's a switchblade Now that takes me back. Belonged to some mugger who had taken an habbit of harrasing the girls from her old boarding school. They laughed when she went in with her little opera mask (and even herself had to smile in retrospect, how silly she must have looked), thinking it'd be easy money. The look on their face was priceless. Thirteen at the time. she was scrarred as hell but it just seemed so natural. Sometime I wonder what would have been if I had just gave up and forked over Like well... anyone sane would have done, not tried to be hero. Not gone on this path.

Anyhow, back to the present, the exo suit. also make a nice hiding place for the case, which she wrapped in a few layers of isolating materials just to be on he safe side. the trapdoor in the back is hard enough to spot for anyone who doesn't know it's here and it's got lead alloy plating, should stop X-ray, heat or whatever vision. But mostly it's just not the most obvious hiding place in the HQ who has a few more secure rooms and the best line of defense is that the Penumbra location itself is a relatively well kept secret. that should be enough hopefully for now, until she can find a more permanent solution.

Actually I'm going to spend a hero point to get one equipment point for the HQ, to make it 'hidden' since I forgot to do that when making the build. and a surveillance system though (mostly jsut abunch of cameras)

The masked heroin thoughts mirrors those of the flying one has she happen to look upward.
That's a lucridious amount of Dire bots. How the hell did she manage to build that many undetected ? Even is she used her dire bots to build more dire bots she would still need tons of component and boards and metal.. and stuff. Silvia isn't a robotic expert beyond having trashed a surprisingly high amount of them. anyway stuff that should have been noticed if she had been moving it in big quantities. She must have been planning that for years. But even so Shade's is kind of beating herself for not noticing this sooner.
Even one direbot can pack a nasty punch as she know from experience, a small army like that, that's just bad.

Silvia reaches for her comlink. "Uh Lighthouse, this is Shade. Have you looked at the power plant lately ? Big situation here. Multiple" Nope not the appropriate word here "Legion of direbots. "

"Thanks Robert." As he let his grip go over her, she smoothly jumps over the fence and into the perimeter. "I guess You'll take the front. Help is on the way." Guy can take care of himself, given who he takes from... Still that's a lot of evil machines. And they are not even the biggest threat. For a short while, shade gets the mental image of the present being frozen in a moment as suddenly the world going backward and crunching up in non existence till the point shere a new timeline will unravell.
"Jsut wanted to say, it has been an honnor. Take care"

She needs to get into the building before the dire bots gets here but she'd rather avoid being seen by the frontliners at this point. Standing on her guard, she looks for a side entrance by which she can enter the premise without being seen.

As Shade enters the Power Station she makes her way to the control room relatively quickly and before long is over looking the half dozen people that are currently acting as a skeleton crew to keep the station safe and running while the others evacuate. From her vantage point on a walkway above she can see the primary control terminal but she is still hidden from anyone below her.

Robert Leeds, flanked by Lady Liberty and Dr. Metropolis approach the group of seven heroes outside the power station. They've also noticed the legion of Dire Bots.

Dr. Metropolis speaks

"Shade informed us there was a situation here that needed our assistance. We are here to assist the Frontliners as Daedalus has already. What can you inform us about the situation?"

"Oh wow, Dr. Metropolis and Lady Liberty? I'm just meeting all the big guns today." Emily takes a deep breath.

"OK, Dr. Dire stole a gem this morning, Daedalus was helping us chase her. Tracked her to one of her bases, she gave one of her big villain speeches, then turned the bot-legion loose on us. The gem is part of a plan to make what she called a Dire-lock, a, a... something. I don't know what it actually looks like, but it lets you change a timeline permanently, by overwriting it. She's going to go back in time and try to conquer the world, and then all of reality! She has a personal time machine, but it requires a giant amount of power, like a power plant's level of power."

Inhale.

"Dr. Metropolis, is there anything you can do? Some way to drop the plant's output without blacking out the entire city? Don't want to have to do that if we don't have to, but I don't think we can stop that many bots!"

[Raynn]

~ The Others ~

Dr. Metropolis shakes his head

"I could cut if off from the rest of the city but I could not shut it down myself, I lack the knowledge to safely deactivate the reactor. If I forced it to shut down with my abilities I could risk a meltdown. I could alter the building, turn doors to walls. It will not prevent Dire gaining access for ever but it will buy time."

[Ridai]

"Dire is not among the bots. I can't sense her yet."

Seeing Lady Liberty arrive, a faint smile dances across Ava's face. She always appreciates the presence of another healer.

[Starsign]

Rycon begins to feel a lot less noticeable as she sees Metropolis and Lady Liberty come in, along with Robert and Sylvia. With more heroes coming in, the danger shows to be greater and the more pressure is given to Rycon's shoulders. Right now this group of heroes are the only thing between saving the world and being rewritten to a paradise that a supervillain dreams of. She has never been in such a situation like this before and frankly she is wondering if she's better off having stayed in Germany.

However she is here now; no time to turn back. She tries to quickly think of a plan on what to do. Ava's warning however gives her an idea as she shouts at the group, "Someone head into the Power Plant! I think this legion is just a distraction!" Once she's finished her shouting, Rycon focuses on trying to rewrite the Dire Bots again. It might not work this time but it's worth the attempt.

It will also give us time to figure out where Dire herself is. Perhaps she's found a way to shield herself from your powers, Ava?"
