what's important is that both parties are of the same maturity.

in humans, the difference between someone 50 and 60 is fairly small. the difference between someone 16 and 21, despite being a smaller span of time, is HUGE.

so putting celestia with twilight seems odd, but it wouldn't in 10ish years.

spike is obviously too young for rarity, but if spike matures faster (and by all indications he does so significantly), they could have a relationship eventually.

You know, I think what Spike really needs (and probably what would happen realistically) is to learn that he's not the only nice and civil dragon around, specifically by meeting a nice dragon girl/boy (probably girl given what we've seen so far) and getting over his childish crush on Rarity.

Because I'll restate my position on SpikexRarity too: Rarity doesn't look at Spike or treat him in any way like a potential romantic partner, but like one would a small child who has a silly, immature crush on you, which is exactly what Spike is so it's totally appropriate. Rarity probably even treats him a little too much like a child, given his level of mental maturity (physically he is definitely not a teenager yet, since we've seen teenage dragons AND a teenage Spike). It's kinda sweet, but ultimately still immature and likely to pass with age. They'll remain very dear friends, probably even like "family", but I can not in any way see Spike and Rarity as lovers.

I don't think I could come up with any combination of all the Mane 6 that I feel would work well. I can pair some of them, but not all six. I also think it's a little boring if all of them only date each other when there are some obvious and great ships if you expand the shipping pool a bit. Like Rarity is totally gonna end up with Spike, there's no way it can't happen, anything else - especially any of the mane 6 - are going to be poor choices for her.

Also remember that Spike will probably never be alown. If Pipsqueak is anything like Philomena, than she/he could be Spikes friend for a very, very long time. Spike could presumably never be alown for his entire long life.

There is that. Though I don't think the subject of Spike aging alone has come up since Dragon Quest (and certainly ther hasn't been the same spate of Spike-is-old-and-everyone-else-is-dead fics that there were when I first started reading pony fanfic.)

I'd have to disagree. Like absolutely everything else about a proper relationship, it boils down to the individual's personalities (which may or may not include similar levels of maturity in personality) and the compatability thereof. Anything else is just numbers, which have no bearing on, well, anything.

Trying to define acceptable relationships by relative age is just as stupid and ridiculous as defining them by relative height; indeed, as silly, as say, trying to fit the entire complexity of every sentient being in the universe, with their diverse drives and thought and feelings, into nine pidgeonholed categories. (This does not mean people do not try. That merely makes them idiots, however; an all-to-common state in the universe.)

The ONLY restriction on relationships I hold to is the minimum threshold for legality (i.e. physical/mental maturity of both participants jusifiably enbles them to be able to decide of their own free will to enter a relationship); aside from that, I see no restictions in age, gender, species or anything else.

This does not mean I want to necessarily KNOW about it, however.

I have to agree, not least because I really don't see Fancypants any more credible than any other Rarity ship (and less so than Spike/Rarity, though I will admit, that is preference speaking). Were he not mentioned occasionally after the episode, I would have found him utterly forgettable.



Overall, however, I have no particular preferences for shipping (I support Spike/Rarity mostly because everypony was using Spike as their punching bag in the early days, and it's at least a subversion of the tired old cliche of younger-girl/older-guy); with the sole exception of anything that includes Discord, which I avoid like the plague. I absolutely cannot see anything remotely positive in Discord-shipping at all, as I an see no way in which it wouldn't be manipulative or abusive, and above all, out-and-out squick.

I said the government could help not completely take the responsibility. I can't say if it would be as healthy a relationship. It may be an obstacle but I don't see why it would unhealthy in comparison.

Humanized ponies. Hmmm. Well from the pics I like them all but I would make some differences. Personally AJ and Twilight need a darker skin tone. A mocha for Twi and a more blonde coffee for AJ. RD needs shorter spikier hair, she just screams sk8er to me. Rarity looks just 100% perfect to me. Pinkie looks fine but for a girl who eats as much sweets as she does she needs more curves. Like at least some nice thickness on her hips and...nvm. >.>;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; Anypony...how about them Wonderbolts..

I would love to be a part of this, but I just don't think I'll have the time to do it justice.

I'll see what I can cook up. I don't know that I need priority though; I've got a bit f a full platter that's working tenuously because not all of them go on weekend hiatus at once. I have yet to see what having them all in full swing will do.

It's still in early concept stages anywhoo. At the moment I'm just conceptually mapping out some areas we might visit, and beginning to compile a list of potential NPCs'. If anyone has some tips, based off their own experience GMing or playing, feel free to toss them in my direction ^^;

Maturity is one thing; something more than a thousand years of extra experiences is quite another. That there could be feelings is perfectly plausible, and maybe even that Twilight could try to act on them, but I can't see the Princess letting it get very far.
