Re: [4E] Tornado Valley - (IC)
DM
Birel still hold the net, but it's coming harder... Liam and Titan approach, while Wyndiam almost carry the rope in the hands of Birel.
Lastuce takes the other end of the net which is attached to a stone, but he is not strong enough to pull it alone...
Initiative, MAP and SC :
SpoilerWyndiam: 12++ <-- Active Player
Birel: 12+ (Delay-Who is waiting to catch the rope)
Liam: 12 (Delay-Who waits for Birel holding the rope)
Titan: 12 (Delay-Who waits for Birel holding the rope)
Lastuce: 4
Liam, Titan and Wyndiam get a success and move fowards. Birel, no success, but also no failure, he just still hold on. + Lastuce who failed to pull Birel out of water.
Success: 2
Failure: 0
Round: 3
RED Squares are Difficult Terrain.
==============================
Skill Challenge
It's Wyndiam's turn. Liam, Titan and Birel in Delay.
Here are some basic ideas and some goals.
1- Save Birel
2- Catch up and kill or capture the Goblins
3- Or both
Swim or use force to bring Birel back from the water will be a difficult challenge.
While catch and kill the goblins seems much easier.
In addition to the skills, you can use a melee or range basic attack against Goblins instead of a Skill Check.
All good ideas and originality will be rewarded!

Wyndiam
Without taking any chances, the Genassi burst into the air and floats above the elf and drop the rope on him and quickly returns to the safety at his originating point.
Spoiler
I know it's not original I always use Windwalker, but I wanted to be sure to get the rope to the elf.
THIS TEST WILL NOT COUNT!! I'm just curious to see how I would roll...

Re: [4E] Tornado Valley - (IC)
Liam
When Liam sees Wyndiam fidgeting with the rope, he takes the opportunity to advance some more, signaling Titan to do the same. They will give some more slack to Wyndiam and get better footing to pull Birel that way.
Spoiler
Minor : Signal to Titan to move
Move : Move to -E, 12
Standard : Ready the pull action on Birel holding the rop firmly.

Titan acknowledges Liam's signal and moves with him to the safer location of the rubble, which will also give them more footing to pull Birel.

Birel
With the rope floating over him, the elf first try to put his feet in the loop to so it is his leg that support him, rather than his arms that take all the pressure. Then he try to grab the rope.
SpoilerOk, here are two rolls. DM does what he want with them
Acrobatic to manage to put his foot in the loop. : (1D20+13)[16]
Athletic (+5 (Aspect), +2 (for the loop), +2 (For correct aim of Wyndyam)) (1D20+16)[20]
The only thing my roll does include yet is a possible bonus from my acrobatic above (or something like that)

Re: [4E] Tornado Valley - (IC)
DM
Birel succeeded with the help of Wyndiam to put his feet in the loop and hang on to the rope very tightly. Liam and Titan come closer and take position to pull Birel out of the water...
Lastuce leave the net in place in case something unfortunate happen.
Initiative, MAP and SC :
SpoilerLiam: 12++ <-- Active Player
Titan: 12+
Wyndiam: 12
Birel: 11
Lastuce: 4
Wyndiam get an automatic success with Windwalk power. Birel managed to switch from the net to the rope.
I can't give a Success, due to the lack of significant action from Liam and Titan, but no failure either.
Success: 2
Failure: 0

Re: [4E] Tornado Valley - (IC)
Liam
Seeing that Birel is firmly anchored to the line, Liam nods his head towards Titan and start pulling. He does so gently as to make sure the rope doesn't snap out of Birel's grasp while they are tugging.
Spoiler
Readied standard : Athletics to pull the rope : (1D20+10)[3](13)
I'm guessing that Titan will provide an aid another action here to give me a bonus.

Titan
Seeing Birel by the shore, Titan says:
"Go help him out, I'll hold the rope"
Spoiler
Titan speaks as a free action not on his turn. I'm not sure if I'm allowed a quick look or not in the corridor where the goblins fled at the same time, in case something would come after me from behind. If I can, here's my perception check. If I can't, I'll do it on my turn most likely.
Perception: See OCC

Finally, Birel emerges from the water... The four companions are safe on
the side of the river where plants. Lastuce brings back the net on the
shore and detached it from the rock.
The goblins are gone, and leave behind a boiler full of fish, 11 Copper
Pieces, a Deck of card game, a 50 feet rope and two daggers... All poor
quality equipment.
SC :
SpoilerLiam and Titan pull Birel to the shore, Wyndiam help him to get
out, and Birel manage to climb out of water.

The elf roll on his back and caught some water. Taking a few moments to regain his breathing, he says,

Re: [4E] Tornado Valley - (IC)
Titan
Clearly unimpressed with Birel's actions, Titan says:
"Those treacherous scums saved your life in case you haven't noticed. You might hate them, you can't ignore that fact. If you really wanted to kill them, you could have waited to be on shore to say whatever you told them, that I don't care. But try to be smarter next time instead of letting your personal feelings get in the way and putting all of our lives at risk and jeopardizing the whole quest."
Following up right away on Wyndiam's comment before Birel can answer:
"Rest if you need, I'll keep looking for the plant and try to figure a way to get back to the other side. We won't be able to simply jump back, it's too slippery."
Picking up his rope, Titan walks back towards the plants, being careful not to fall in the water.

Liam
Looking towards the elf with a sad face, Liam says :
"Titan is right, WHAT were you thinking Birel?"
Whitout awaiting for an answer, he continues :
"Leave the goblin's stuff there, we do not want to be tagged as theives to their eyes. The going will be difficult enough as is."
On this, he turns around and walks toward the tree of life, looking for his plant.

Liam did Nature (22) - Success
Wyndiam did Perception (12) - Failure

Re: [4E] Tornado Valley - (IC)
Birel
The elven scout spit some water and rise to his feets. He look at his friends, his face stoic and harbor an hard look.
"You might want to deal with goblins. I dont. I offered them more than I usually would, their own life, for you and the mission. Those bastard decided that it was not enough, not my fault here. I cant say I was surprised anyway."
The elf angry gaze fall on Titan and he add,
And they didnt try to save me, I ended up in their net and they tried to use their luck as leverage. I was doing just fine getting out on my own until they pushed me away. Had the net not being there, I would add swam and drifted until current becomes weaker and climbed out. I can swim well enough for that purpose.
The elf look at Titan for a few seconds, then close his eyes and takea deep breath to calm himself and finaly add,
"I dont need rest. Lets find those plants and get out of here."
Birel move toward the plants and start looking trying to let go of his anger.
SpoilerI sure would take the roll I did before... if I cannot, here is the new one

Wyndiam
Ok if nobody needs to rest I'm good to go also, was just propsing it fou you Birel, fighting the current is not an easy task...
Walking toward the plants an trying to find one on his own he suddendly stops and take is magic book out.
I've got a ritual in here, if you want to be safe I cant cast a spell to allow you to cross over... Or we can just tied the rope around our waist before attempting to jump the other side, or again, we could make a bridge with the net.

Birel
The elf look at the plants and say,
"This one look a lot like the one we are looking for."
The elf look at Wyndhiam and reply, a touch of anger in his voice,
"I said I'm fine!"
He look at the artificer and note the man calmness. Shaking his head, the elf apologize lowering his tone.
"Sorry Wyndhiam. You're right, we should use the net as a bridge. I should had tied myself up before the jump, would had saved some trouble. We might want to do this we we go over it again."

Titan
Having walked away before his friends talked, Titan missed most of their answers because of the noise of the river.
Hearing Wyndiam's suggestions as he and Birel came closer to the plants, Titan replies:
"I surely can't jump back, I'm too clumsy and will for sure go for a swim with this slippery edge. The bridge with the net is a good idea, as long as it can support my 400 pounds! What's that ritual you are talking about?"
Noticing they had finally found the plant they wanted, Titan state:
"Great job everyone. We should take a few and each carry one, in case something happens."Last edited by Tata; 2012-09-10 at 10:02 AM.

Liam
At the mention of Birel's find, Liam comes rushingto inspect the plant.
"That is it, good job Birel" says Liam, forgetting completly the previous events. Your eyes are proving to still be as acute as those of a sea gull."
Then, pulling a tiny vial that the shaman gave him, he bends over, uproot the plant, put it in the vial and stopper it.
"This plant doesn't like the sun, better carry it in darkness."
Then, raising his and spotting Lastuce across the way, he says :
Wyndiam, what is this ritual your talking about? the one that make a disc appear out of thin air? That could get us across for sure. Do you need help to prepare it?"
He then heads off to help Wyndiam.
Spoiler
Nature to try to uproot the plant, so the shaman can make it grow near his place.

No, not that one Liam. Next time we are in town I'll look for it. The ritual I'm talking is literally making you walk on water. It takes roughly 10 minutes per person to cast per it's effect last for quite sometime. I could cast it on Tata and he could carry us back and forth...
SpoilerAgain I'm sorry I don't find the details for my ritual...

"How does it work with heavy current though? I can see no problems over still water, but will the current take me away, just on top of the water instead of being in the water?"

The elf look at his allies and ask,
"Dont you think this is a bit of a waste of money and time? We have a easy mundane way of going across - rope and that large net. Let's just try this first and keep the ritual and component for when we are really stuck."
Birel move carefully near the river and yell to Lastuce,
"Lastuce, Can you fix the net on your side and throw it to me? I'll try to make us a bridge."

Re: [4E] Tornado Valley - (IC)
Titan
Seeing Birel move closer to the edge, Titan gets his rope back out and gives one end to Birel:
"Just in case you go back for a little swim..."
He then secures the rope about halfway on a rock nearby and ties the other end around himself. He then walks back to Birel:
"I'll give you a hand friend. Let's focus on getting the plant back to save Liam's grandfather. We can kill all the goblins you want after."
After saying this, Titan sports a small smirk on his face, something his friends have seen him do only very scarcely.
SpoilerLike this, Titan and Birel are both attached to the same rope, with a bit less than 25 feet of leeway to walk around. Given the distance between the rock and the river, if they fall, they won't go very far, at least not 50 feet down stream.

The elf tie himself up and give a weird look at Titan last comment pondering
why Titan speaks of killing the goblin while he is working on securing a bridge to get out of this place with the plant.
Still, the elf nod saying nothing and wait for Lastuce to send him the net.

Liam
While his friends are busy trying to make a bridge, Liam looks at his plant wondering if he is missing something.
"Hmm, spider attacking inn, goblin helping an elf, a Dwarven guide who falls prey to deathtrap, a live plant in a vial.... live plant? wait a minute, didn't the shammy tell me to do something with the plant? yes yes... boil it. I remember now! "
Rising with his precious cargo, Liam shouts : "Guys, I need to infuse these or else, they may not make it to my Pappy. I will do that while you work on that bridge."
He then starts looking for a dry spot where he can start a little fire and boil some water.
Spoiler
Nature or dungeonneering to find material to build a fire (1d20+10)[27]
Thievery to mimic the Shaman's instruction (1D20+12)[28]
And if someone has a candle, I will seal the vials, to secure the content.
