Dear Princess Celestia,
The day you selected me to become your personal student was one of the happiest of my life, as was the day you asked me to dedicate my scientific genius to Equestria’s defense. I had other options available to me; had I wished to I could have devoted myself to the crass pursuit of material gain and been quite successful. Don’t deceive yourself, your kingdom has its share of merchants of death; or are you so naïve as to believe that Filthy Rich made his fortune hawking jars of jam and cheap knickknacks. But my dedication to you and to Equestria outweighed any potential for personal gain, and so I spent my life engaged in research to better protect your kingdom and your subjects, risking life and limb battling twisted undead abominations and eldritch horrors.
In return for this service, I sought neither material rewards nor official recognition for my work. Silver Lining is an Exalt, a four-winged Pegasus warrior.
Shimmer Snowflake is that delightfully magenta topped dollop of whipping cream who slides bundles under the door of the Ponyville library and then Dame Twilight doesn't actually come out of the building for a day or two. I suspect she works for intelligence but she's the only pony more classified than Falling Stars.

I agree with here you're going but I don't think being the fastest is really a definin characteristic of who Dashie is. Rather, it's a symptom. She's an athlete, who likes to win. Being fast is a nice perk, but he could be cumbersome and slow and still be Dashie, the athlete who likes to win.

I actually think AJ would make an excellent writer. Writing requires lots of patience, thoughtfulness and is often hard work. I think Dash would approach writing much like Scootaloo did, rushing right at it only to find that coming up with words is, like, really hard, then giving up immediately.

Of all the ponies, I actually could see AJ writing a successful novel. Twilight would be too analytical, Rarity too sappy romantic, Dash and Pinkie would lack seriousness, Fluttershy ... I don't know, for some reason I don't think she'd have the imagination, also she'd never have the nerves to send it to a publisher or let anyone read it anyway

Or perhaps childrens' books? I think if Fluttershy were to write anything it would be fairly light reading. Light poetry might work too.

I don't know if lack of imagination is the best way to describe it, there's just something about Fluttershy aside from her shyness which suggests to me that she wouldn't be likely to write a novel.

As for empathy, I'm not sure. For animals sure, but that doesn't necessarily translate well to other ponies.
