    Default Star Wars Edge of the Empire Beta: Character Creation Query

    Okay received the book yesterday and am trying to create characters and would like you help in case I miss something.

    So for the first character I roll up Obligations and managed a 98 so reroll twice more and result in;
    1) Addiction and
    2) Dutybound

    Okay for species went for Twi'lek so her starting characteristics are;

    Brawn: 1, Agility: 2, Intellect: 2, Cunning: 2, Willpower 2, Presence: 3

    Starting Wound Threshold: 11+ Brawn or 12
    Starting Strain Threshold: 11+ Willpower or 13

    Oh before I forget she gets two racial abilities;
    1) Select 1 skill rank in either Charm or Deceit she'll have that in Deceit and
    2) Removes 1 setback die on skill checks due to operating in an arid or hot environment.

    Okay her career is Smuggler gaining a skill rank in 4 of the following Career Skills; Coordination, Deceit, Perception, Pilot/Space, Skullduggery, Streetwise, Vigilance and Knowledge/Underworld

    Because her racial bonus counts towards the limit of 2 skill ranks in any one skill she ends up going for; Coordination 1, Deceit 2 (1 racial and 1 Career skill choice), Pilot/Space 1 and Skullduggery of 1.

    Now as her specialization she goes for Thief which grants her a skill rank in 2 of the following four skills; Skullduggery, Vigilance, Knowledge/Underworld and Stealth.

    This time she increases her Skullduggery to 2 and has 1 in Knowledge/ Underworld.

    When I first did this I assumed she gained a free talent not including her racial bonus but this doesn't seem to be the case so as this character is planned as one for a group of 4 players her Obligations are initially rated at 5 each BUT I increased one to 10.
    This increases her xp towards modifying her character from 100 to 105.

    Increase both Intellect and Willpower to 3 both cost 30pts so that reduces the xp to 45.

    Obtain Black Market Contacts for 5pts this reduces this to 40, then spent 20pts to become Force Sensitive as an additional career specialization and then selects Uncanny Senses for 5pts this reduces this to 15.

    Then selects the Street Smarts talent for 10 reducing this to 5pts.

    Originally when i thought the Black market Contacts would be a free talent I also selected Convincing Demeanor to cover the last 10pts but this not being the case I replace that with Uncanny Reactions since Insight isn't necessary as she has both Perception & Vigilance as career skills.

    Motivation: Rolled Fame and Former nemesis so...

    Brawn: 1, Agility: 2, Intellect: 3, Cunning: 2, Willpower 3, Presence: 3
    Starting Wound Threshold: 11+ Brawn or 12
    Starting Strain Threshold: 11+ Willpower or 14

    Skills:
    Coordination 1, Deceit 2, Knowledge/Underworld 1, Pilot/Space 1 and Skullduggery of 2.

    Talents:
    Black Market Contacts: When purchasing illegals goods reduce the rarity by 1 and increasing the cost of the item by 50%.
    Street Smarts: Removes 1 setback die from Streetwise or Surveillance checks.
    Uncanny Reactions (Force Sensitive): Gains 1 bonus die to all Vigilance checks.
    Uncanny Senses (Force Sensitive): Gains 1 Bonus die to all Perception checks.

    Obligation:
    Addicted to Fame (5)
    Dutybound to Former nemesis (Her husband) (10)

    So anything i missed or got plain wrong?

    So thought I try this again with a second character attempt;

    So for Obligation rolled Responsibility and upped that to 20 (rolled a d6 with 4-5 meaning it goes up by 5 and 6 for a maximum of 10 increase in case you were wondering).

    For species went with Bothan;

    Brawn 1, Agility 2, Intellect 2, Cunning 3, Will 2 and Presence 2

    Racial abilities include a free 1 skill rank in Streetwise (please note when creating a character the maximum you can increase a skill before start of play is 2 so you can’t spend the career specialty class skill along with the career skill bonus ranks) and the bonus talent of Convincing Demeanour (reduces any setback dice by 1 when applied to any Deceit or Skullduggery skill check).

    So went for Smuggler (that’s a surprise!) with career skills of Coordination, Deceit, Perception, Pilot/Space, Skulduggery, Streetwise, Vigilance and Knowledge/Underworld so with 4 skill ranks went for 1 in each except for Vigilance and Knowledge/Underworld.

    So went for the Pilot specialty and spent the 2 skill ranks on 1 each of Astrogation and Gunnery.

    So having 110pts to spend increased Agility to 3 and Willpower to 4 which left 10pts so took Full Throttle and Galaxy Mapper.

    Oh before I forget (again!) rolled Relationship for motivation with childhood friend.

    Thus the Bothan Pilot

    Obligation: Responsible for a childhood friend who was crippled in an accident he was partly responsible for (20)

    Brawn 1, Agility 3, Intellect 2, Cunning 3, Willpower 4, Presence 2

    Starting Wound Threshold: 10+Brawn or 11
    Starting Strain Threshold: 11+Willpower or 15

    Skills:
    Coordination 1, Deceit 1, Perception 1, Pilot/Space 1, Skulduggery 1, Streetwise 1, Astrogation 1and Gunnery 1.

    Talents:
    Convincing Demanour: Reduce Setback dice by 1 for any Deceit or Skulduggery skill check)
    Full Throttle: Can make a make a Pilot check versus a hard difficulty (3 purple d8s) to increase a vehicle’s speed by 1 for 3 rounds.
    Galaxy Mapper: Can reduce any setback dice on an Astrogation check by 1 and such checks take half the normal time.

    Hmm maybe I ought to be looking at combat skills?!

    Wondered about dropping Intellect down to 2 to recover 30 xp ad use this on sklls say Ranged Light 1 (10), Perception, Streetwise, Vigilance and Stealth at 1 (20) and modify the below accordingly;
