Re: Favourite Character Tournament
Banjo. Roy can go ahead and die again. Though a bit of a wasted vote, I think.
Malack is obviously better than that Paladin. May he live to tell us his last name.
I am also disappointed at the reduction in battles per round. More battles, more interesting.

Re: Favourite Character Tournament
Roy Greenhilt over Banjo
I find protagonists a bit harder to rate than most other characters because they have so many moments that it's harder for them to truly stand out, but Banjo isn't really a character at all. Roy has a chance of getting my vote from here on out, but Banjo does not.
Malack over Daigo Da--
I love Daigo and Kazumi, but Daigo is less interesting and Malack has been on the road to becoming one of my favorite characters since "HARM!"
Easy start to the second round. I'm sure eventually these will get harder, but not so far.

Roy - every band needs a sane man
Malack - he might be able to challenge Redcloak and Vaarsuvius as my favourite character in the comicLast edited by CWater; 2013-02-21 at 12:07 AM.

Roy, because Banjo is a prop, not a character.

Spoiler1: Roy Greenhilt - 36 - 76.60%
VS
Banjo - 11 - 23.40%
Valiant effort for an inanimate object facing a main protagonist.
Malack - 38 - 80.85%
VS
24: Daigo Da- - 9 - 19.15%
It's almost like the main comic and this thread conspired to hold down the ascendant red shirt. Fight the power Daigo! We believe in you!
Spoiler1,2
12: Celia (25) d. Yikyik (7)
Wizard Guy (20) d. Sara Greenhilt (11)
Bozzok (22) d. Mr. Jones (10)

Wizard Guy
"Excuse me, sir, if you're done pretending I can't hear you because I'm a nameless NPC, I'll head off to that tavern there to get utterly drunk in response to my life's apparently meaninglessness."
Haley Starshine: "Huh. Nicely done Bozzok, but you know as well as I do that you need to be 4 levels higher than me to sneak attack me anyway."
Bozzok: "True, but I did say there were other benefits to killing thieves that try to leave the guild - Sneak Attack."
*schtuth*
Bozzok: "Namely, rapid XP gain."
Bozzok
VS
13: Sabine
Sabine: "Nale, sugar, I'm literally an evil incarnation of illicit sex, do I seem like I would get hung up on who you sleep with? Heck, I had sex four times while I was away."
Nale: "You - you were gone for three hours!"
Sabine: "Yeah, well, I had errands to run, too."

Re: Favourite Character Tournament
Wizard Guy. Celia just irks me a lot. An annoying character, that does not get her comeuppance for her annoyingness in comic. The wizard guy might be a minor npc, but at least he inserted some funny into the strip, and he was instrumental to Shojos best joke :)
Sabine. Bozzok was allright, but Sabine is just much more interesting for me.Last edited by Torrasque; 2013-02-25 at 07:37 AM.

Re: Favourite Character Tournament
Celia Even though she's a bit of an airhead, she's not the most dumb airborne outsider in the comic.

Re: Favourite Character Tournament
Wizard Guy, even if I remember him primarily as a skeleton. The way he got there was classic.
Sabine, Bozzok hardly had time to connect, even if he could.

Hmm, first one's too tough and the second is really easy:
Sabine is one of my favorites and Bozzok is one of my least favorites.

Re: Favourite Character Tournament
Oh, Wizard Guy, who had me already at the pointy hat. And because one of my favorite D&D parties had a drunken wizard who misteleported and burned things and generally made everything better. You're no nameless NPC to me, bro!
Sabine. Bozzok just doesn't have that eeeeevil potential. At least now I can get back to enjoying my glass of elven wine in peace and quiet, without being called on to intervene in someone else's problems.
Clang, clang, clang goes the trolley! Ring, ring, ring goes the bell! Git away from me, ye daft fool!

Re: Favourite Character Tournament
Really tricky one, but I've already helped taking down one poor redshirt already, so this time I'll cast my vote forWizard Guy, particularly because his time with us was very short, but very memorable^^ I won't have a problem if Celia goes to the next Round though.
Heh, Sabine. I almost voted for Bozzok, then I remembered the shoolgirl outfit... "cough cough"

Re: Favourite Character Tournament
So are we really going ahead with the too match ups per round thing? This is going to take quite a while and get sorta boring.
Wizard Guy, because he was actually funny. Although I don't have Celia as much as some people here.
Bozzok, because he was kinda fun.

Re: Favourite Character Tournament
Celia
VS
Wizard Guy
Not an easy choice. Celia's narrative role requires her to be almost unforgivably niave and unaware at times, which does not gel very well with other scenes in which she is the savvy voice of reason. Because of this, I think she is one of the more weakly-written secondary characters, but her relationship with Roy is quite sweet.
Against any other oppostion, Celia might do badly. But while Wizard Guy's appearances were funny, he was a nameless one-note joke at the end of the day.
Bozzok
VS
Sabine
Another tough one. Both of these are good villain characters. Sabine's relationship with Nale is by turns funny and disturbing, and her different guises are fun. I really liked all the Thieves' Guild scenes, in the main comic and the prequel, and hope to see more of them at some point. But the Linear Guild's most intriguing member takes this one by a whisker.
Bottom line: I guess I have a thing for pretty girls with wings.
EDIT: Personally, I don't have a problem with the two battles per round thing. It might take a while to complete the whole tournament, but, frankly, what's the rush?Last edited by sam79; 2013-02-25 at 12:01 PM.
The prison was full of British officers who had sworn to die, rather than be captured.
