Re: Favourite Character Tournament
Celia, Sabine
The wizard dude was pretty much a three-comic wonder, but not much more. And I don't hate Celia.
The second choice was tougher- Bozzok was an incredibly annoying person, but an effective antagonist and he managed to set up several awesome scenes (plus he had awesome boots). However, Sabine is so much more ploterrific...

Well, i guess before you tally the votes and throw another one up...
Wizard Guy Not that I have any particular distaste for Celia, but Wizard Guy was pretty rockin'
Bozzok Both annoying, but Bozzok took charge. Dude didn't drag his feet any.Cuthalion's art is the prettiest art of all the art. Like my avatar.

Spoiler12: Celia - 17 - 44.74%
VS
Wizard Guy - 21 - 55.26%
So... you guys hate Celia that much? Ouch.
Bozzok - 8 - 20.00%
VS
Sabine - 32 - 80.00%
Yay, Sabine!
So, remember all those characters you loved so much that you voted them out in the first round? Well, they're back for a Loser's Cup!* I know you're all psyched about that. There's going to be two four match-rounds while the Loser's Cup catches up to the Favourite Character Tournament (so, six matches overall) before it settles back to the usual four that everyone was surprisingly attached to.

Re: Favourite Character Tournament
Durkon - Too easy.
Grand Larcenist - I'm not a huge fan of the demon roaches.
Sangwaan - This is actually not a vote for "anyone but Nale". I like Nale a fair bit. I just really like Sangwaan, probably much more than I should, given her fairly limited screentime, but there you have it.
Old Blind Pete - If for no other reason than that he sets up the Cleric of Loki's final line.
Horace Greenhilt - Yokyok was the best of the assorted LG kobolds, but Horace Greenhilt is kind of a badass.
"Kaboom" Redaxe - This one actually is just a straight-up vote for "anyone but Julia". I just don't like her.

Re: Favourite Character Tournament
Durkon for this round. While I usually vote against PCs due to some sort of innate hipsterism, I don't know what a grukgruk is.
Demon-Roaches win here. Much funnier.
And for the LC:

Old Blind Pete

Re: Favourite Character Tournament
FCT: Chief Grukgruk and Demon-Roaches.
LC: Sangwaan, Old Blind Pete, Horace and "Kaboom". And I wish to be clear: this is a Loser Cup. I'm voting those I hated the most, not those I want to win something anyway. Reading above I'm afraid it's a "best loser contest" instead. Was vernünftig ist, das ist wirklich; und was wirklich ist, das ist vernünftig. (G.W.F.H.)

Re: Favourite Character Tournament
Chief Grukgruk's all very well, but he can't compete with Durkon.
Grand Larcenist was a boring minor character. The demon roaches are amusing minor characters.
And for the losers...
I continue my doomed support of Sangwaan.
I have very little fondness of either Old Blind Pete or the Huecava, but the latter is less annoying.
Yokyok gave us a really funny sequence with Belkar. (So that's where all those requests to kill things for money come from!)
Julia Greenhilt is an awesome annoying little sister.

Favorite Characters Tournament
Durkon Thundershield vs. Chief Grukgruk
Easy.
Grand Larcenist vs. Demon Roaches
Aw, who wouldn’t vote for the Demon Roaches? Those guys are hilarious!
Losers’ Cup
Nale vs. Sangwaan
I must be just completely out of phase with the population here. I find Nale one of the funniest characters in the strip.
Old Blind Pete vs. Huecuva
Pete was just more interesting.
Horace Greenhilt vs. Yokyok
Neither very interesting, but Horace was marginally more likeable.
“Kaboom” Redaxe vs. Julia Greenhilt
Julia was a brat, but I found her more entertaining than “Kaboom.”Last edited by Tannhaeuser; 2013-03-06 at 01:39 AM.

Re: Favourite Character Tournament
FCT
Durkon Thundershield. I still don't see how Chief Grukgruk got past General Chang in Round 1.
Grand Larcenist. Strip #435 is one of my favorites in the comic's whole run.
Losers’ Cup
Sangwaan. I actually do like Nale as a character, but I just found Sangwaan to be very endearing for some reason.
Old Blind Pete. He's marginally more interesting.
Horace Greenhilt. Yokyok still is no Inigo Montoya.
Julia Greenhilt. Much more fun character than Redaxe.

Re: Favourite Character Tournament
Durkon Thundershield easily takes the first match. Grukgruk just wasn't around long enough to stand a chance against any PC.
And I find the Larcenist utterly forgettable, while the Demon Roaches are amusing (and occasionally informative!) bits of scenery throughout the comic.
Loser's Bracket (I'm assuming we're voting for our favorites? That's what I've done.)
Unless the losers from later rounds of the FCT are going to be incorporated into the Loser's Cup later on, I have to think Nale, as potentially the most substantial character to lose in the first round, has a strong chance of winning it. He easily beats nonentity Sangwaan.
I'm not really a fan of Old Blind Pete, so I'll take Huecuva here.
Horace Greenhilt wins the next round--I liked seeing the older generation and Roy's inspiration in the actual comic. Yokyok gets points for being a sympathetic antagonist, but his lines were mostly taken out of Princess Bride anyway.
And while I'm expressing positive opinions of the Greenhilt family, I may as well vote for Julia Greenhilt as well. I think she was a well-written little sister character and she had a fair few amusing lines when she was around--Redaxe, by contrast, is one of the more forgettable antagonists of the comic.

Re: Favourite Character Tournament
Durkon - easy
Demon Roaches - I liked the larcenist, but the scene with the roaches taking bets on O-chul's life was hilarious.
------------------
Sangwaan - I'm not as fair as rgrekejin. This actually is just a vote for anyone but Nale, although I did like Sangwaan when she was around.
I'll abstain from Blind Pete vs. Huecuva. I don't really about either of them.
Horace - Yokyok couldn't be more forgettable, and Horace was likeable in father-mode.
Redaxe - I found him more entertaining than the brat, what can I say?

FCT
- Durkon easily beats grukgruk on my book
- I still found the Demon-Roaches too funny to lose against a nice CotD
LC
- I actually like Nale, if only he was a bit luckier and less egocentric...
- The Huecuva was the most boring of the Xykon triplets, while Old Blind Pete not only served his purpose, but left a mark.
- Wow, this is tight, but I guess Horace it's a lil above Yokyok.
- Let's go with "Kaboom" Redaxe, again, just a lil above Julia. My Player Registry entry.

Re: Favourite Character Tournament
Durkon. Grunkgrunk was probably funnier, but I have a soft spot for Durkon.
Deamon Roaches. These guys are friggin hilarious.
Nale, I guess, although I'm not huge on either of these characters.
Old Blind Pete, by virtue of, you know, actually having a personality.
Horace Greenhilt, for being fun.Nevermind, I thought it was Yuykyuk. Princess Bride references rock, so Yokyok
Kaboom, mostly because I don't like Julia.Last edited by Procyonpi; 2013-02-27 at 03:09 PM.

Re: Favourite Character Tournament
Durkon - Very Easy
Demon Roaches - Once again, really easy
Sangwaan - As many people have said, I like Nale, but Sangwaan is perhaps my favorite minor character in the strip.
Old Blind Pete - I voted for the actual character.
Horace - He was pretty cool, and much more memorable than the linear guild Kobold of the week.
Julia - I liked her, unlike quite a few people it seems. Thanks to Dirtytabs for the Avatar!

Re: Favourite Character Tournament
Durkon Thundershield - No contest.
Grand Larcenist - I'm no big fan of the Demon Roaches.
Nale - Sangwaan is pretty neat and all, but Nale bring much more to the story.
Huecava - Old Blind Pete filled his role, but his betrayal of his old friend is not cool.
Horace Greenhilt - No real contest.
Julia Greenhilt - A sexist dwarf vs a girl who uses her sexuality to get attention. Hmm. I actually don't mind the dwarf all that much, but I see much larger potential in Julia than the dwarf. But it's a tough call.

Re: Favourite Character Tournament
Durkon Thundershield VS Chief Grukgruk
I know a lot of people aren't wild about Durkon, but he's actually one of my favorite characters in the strip. Chief Grukgruk was entirely forgettable.
Grand LarcenistVS Demon-Roaches
The demon roaches are more than one creature. It's really not fair that they gang up on one guy, even if he is a convict.
Nale VS Sangwaan
Nale is going down. Again. To a blind seer.
Old Blind Pete VS Huecava
Orange and purple really don't look that bad together. Well, if we aren't speaking of clothes, that is.
Horace Greenhilt VS Yokyok
One-time Princess Bride joke character? Why not? Horace only shows up in the afterlife portion of the comic and that's one portion that I typically skip during re-reads.
"Kaboom" Redaxe VS Julia Greenhilt
Didn't we just eliminate Julia a few days ago? The annoying little brat just won't go away!Administrator of the DnD gaming server, Sea of Dragons: Moonsea - a Persistent World set in the Forgotten Realms that uses the Neverwinter Nights 2 game.

FCT
Durkon I like Durkon quite a bit, but despite being a protagonist I think a fair number of characters would have taken him out -- he's lucky he got plopped in such a weak bracket.
Demon Roaches
LB
Nale I'm surprised Sangwaan has as much of a following as she does; I think she's fine but she never struck me as having all that much personality. Plus, I didn't think the blindness jokes were among Rich's best.

Re: Favourite Character Tournament
A new strip and six battles in the character tournament; it must be my birthday! Thanks oppyu.
Durkon
VS
Chief Grukgruk
I've got nothing against the Chief, but he really doesn't stand a chance against my favourite beer-swilling tree-fearing Vampire-busting (I hope!) cleric.
Grand Larcenist
VS
Demon-Roaches
Not a fan of either of these characters, but I like the way the Grand Larcenist was drawn. Also, getting an assassination job moments after being released from prison shows an admirable work ethic.
Nale
VS
Sangwaan
Sangwaan was a good minor character who didn;t deserve the end she met; but Nale has to get my vote here.
Old Blind Pete
VS
Huecava
No contest; Old Blind Pete was much more interesting than the least of the Xykon clones.
Horace Greenhilt VS Yokyok
No contest really. The Linear Guild kobolds don't tend to last long enough to leave much of an impression. And Horace's scenes with Roy in the afterlife are pretty touching.
"Kaboom" Redaxe
VS
Julia Greenhilt
The brother-sister moments between Julia and Roy alone merit my vote.Last edited by sam79; 2013-02-27 at 03:43 AM.

Durkon. Duh.
Duh.
LC
Nale. How fitting for him to win the Loser's Cup
Huecuva. At least he had a backbone.
Yokyok. Princess Bride.
"Kaboom" Redaxe I like this guy, he's the only such character in this round of LC.There must be some sense of order - personal, political or dramatic - and if no one else is going to bring it to this world, I will.
