Please someone confirm I got this correct:

    Ramsus: Grey Mage
    usourselves&we: Grey Mage
    TBFProgrammer: usorselves&we
    Zar Peter: Grey Mage
    Grey Mage: usorselves&we

Caprice: no lynch (let executioner decide)
    Grey Mage: Kalrany
    Penguinator: Grey Mage
    Zar Peter: Grey Mage
    Grey Mage: Ramsus

    So, to sum up:
    Grey Mage: 2
    Kalrany: 3
    Zar Peter: 1
    usourselves&we: 1
    Ramsus: 1

    Matthias2207: claimed seer
    Kalrany: claimed seer
Grey Mage: claimed banner (I think)

Did I miss anything? What does this mean for the lynch? Does the "4 min" to lynch mean 4 votes for a person or 4 votes total?
With a quick look, you're wrong about ZP's vote, so I've 3 votes now (I'd missed Ramsus' vote change).

Usually it's points for the person, not total, so it'll be the executioners decision.

Looks like all are safe... for now. But we really need to get a wolf tomorrow. Or, today, if anyone has ideas.

Edit: Oh, yes, Executioner... and last we saw, he wasn't town.

Right, got it. Somehow miscopied Zar Peter's vote.
Trying to keep up so I can attempt to understand voting schemes. This was a complicated one.

By the OP: the executioner's axe is picked up by an original, which was in the narration for that lynch. If someone has it, we don't know what side.

Has Zar Peter or Ramsus made a clear claim? I really did start to get lost in the last compilation...

78% of all DM's start their first campaign in a tavern. If you're among the 22% who didn't, copy and paste this into your signature and tell us where you DID begin. The players were attacked individually on the road on the way to town by werewolves. To survive, they had to team up then and there without knowing anything about eachother (literally -- all character sheets were completed without other players' knowledge).

Have we had an executioner lynch since Eternis was lynched?

No, I guess not, but since Eternis was killed by the executioner, and he certainly didn't pick himself...

I failed to take a vortexer into account. >_<

@Kalrany: Look at my last post to see Zar's claim.

    How did I miss that?

How many original seers are there? I thought 2 (1 seer, 1 fool) -- is that all accounted for? Or did one get promoted? I think I need to reread this thread -- but later. I am late for a pick-up now...

Wasn't Eternis lynched? He had 7 votes and the min was 4.

But yeah, if it was an executioner lynch, a vortexer is the only thing that makes sense.

Is that so or did were just do too good a job projecting that idea?

Last time the Axe decided it hit gunnar, and as we remember he was a wolf.

Now this will be rather risky, but we trust Kal at this point as her way of things match up rather well to the way we think it to be, so the axe is firmly set to be in someones head if things stay the way they are. Though we'd rather this be a proper vote in case there is backlash of the beast kind.

For some reason, I thought it was implied that it was executioner decided.

And there are so many claims today... Good luck, Gray Mage, and any other baners there may be...

It'd be nice if there were a town vortexer. I could really see it being usefull.

The vortexer pick two players. Abilities (possibily incluiding the night kill) that'd affect one of the two players actually affects the other (i.e. if you'd scry/bane/kill/whatever player A you actually scry/bane/kill/whatever player B). It basically switches them for the purposes of targetting.

Edit: Some variants have the vortexer's power work on one way only, so abilities affecting A will affect B, but not the other way around.

Edit 2: Not sure if it's supposed to be affect or effect.

    Affect is the verb.

There have been Town Vortexers before, they helped you out in Christmas WW, and they... had interesting effects in Medieval II.

    Cool! Thanks!

PS: a tip that I have found helpful for affect vs effect: at their most basic, the difference between them is that, generally (so not 100%), one is a verb and the other a noun. Replace affect with alter and effect with result; if the meaning is the same, you have the correct term. This trick covers the most common cases.

However, effect can also be a verb. The real rule is "Replace affect with alter, and effect with either result (the noun) or cause (the verb)."

    Devmaar: Kalrany
    Caprice: No Vote

    Day 8

Mayor sits in office, considering what files to look at today. Much has happened, much discussion. Even inside head. "Hey, we should look at the Gatekeeper! No, the Youth is more important right now. Hmm... how about the Sniper? You idiot! Those files were stolen! So? We could look for more! Ugghh... why do I listen to such weirdos. Because we're the same person! Fine, fine, but no Sniper yet; another day. Then Youth? Sure, better than Gatekeeper. He's dead anyway. Yay! I win! It's not a competition, idiot! We're the same person! Oh yeah..." Mayor groans, rubs head. but goes to cabinet to bring out files.

"The Youth: He always seems to hang around his Elder. They'll likely enter to help things out, but things might not work as planned. Youth isn't powerful, but is unstable. Together, combat the Other, but can't say for sure which of two will be more helpful to our cause. Travelers who could potentially come to this town are numerous and varied. Can only hope they make our plan succeed..."

Mob at work today, discussing for lynch. Many people throwing out names: Seer, Fool, Newcomer, Original, Devil, Wolf, Baner. Who's right? Wrong? Much discussion, confusion. At end, no one knows what's happening. Finally, one name stands slightly above others, one Gray Mage. Stands there in confusion as mob begins to advance. "Stop! Stop, I tell you! Hmm... this isn't working. STOP!" Villagers stand frozen as the Powerful Mage puts powers to work and all others stop.

Suddenly, Magician snaps fingers. Piano falls, crushing Gray Mage and power stops. Where came from... only Magician knows. Disgusted village attempts sleep in hopes of better day tomorrow.

At gate, ghost of Gatekeeper watches over Newcomers entering. Sitting there, marks on ghostly pad who's who. "Ah, I thought he would come... No, no. He wasn't on our list... Hmm... Things may not go as planned, but it will be interesting. Anyway, why won't anyone take on this job! We need to keep others from joining in and polluting this chaos! It was constructed for a reason! I HAVE A LIST!!!" Fuming, waves pad around at newcomers who barely take notice. Floats off in huff to watch what happens at night.

((Well, I know where you can find one of the two...))

Kal shook her head. Today had been one of the oddest days yet. The word pandemonium barely scratched the surface of today’s mob. Complete chaos might have been a better fit. No one really seemed to know who to believe, and far too many seemed willing to take any excuse. She was surprised to find such a large target on her back. She hadn’t even met half the people who had called for her at one point. Well, at least her information from her investigation into Naera’s hanging had been accurate. She would have been mortified if she had helped kill off another innocent. That was the last thing this place needs.

Once night had fallen, she had taken her usual nighttime perch up above the alleyway. The last few days notes in hand, she carefully combed them to see if any other patterns emerged.

the lone riding gunman approached the woman rifling through papers.

"Excuse me, ma'am, I was told that my brother left his house to a librarian around in these parts when he was killed. His outstandin' will listed several items in that house which is to go to the family. Can you direct me to where this lady might be?"

Much thanks to Ceika for the poketar!

I'll be away from the internet from 1/3-1/8 2019. I swear I'm not disappeared.

Kal looked up. "Oh, hello! I had wondered about his family. I hope you don't mind me being here," she said, quickly standing. His build looked so similar to his brother, though she could not gather much from his face... "Once the people at the inn heard about the house they told me to get out."

"Do you need any help gathering? I have tried to move as little as possible, figuring someone would come. I've stayed in the guest room. Would you like some supper? I still have some left over from cooking earlier."

"A meal would be mighty nice. We can deal with my brother's accounts tomorrow mornin'. However, I gotta insist, ma'am, that since it's your house, it's only proper that you sleep in the master bedroom and I sleep in the guest bed."

'All hallows eve, the night that did last,

The Nighthunter continued to stare at the man, a mixture of awe and suspicion. "You some sorta bell ringer, 'en?" He shook his head. "I go' bigger fish t'fry. Tell me where Town Hall 'z'at. I gotta fin' 'e Mayor."

Finally forced me into getting one of these.

Kal looked to the stranger, then reluctantly nodded. "I will. I will clear out my items and so forth while you eat. I was worried that he might have family that would protest my staying here, but it seems accepted. I appreciate it." A rather weary smile crossed her face, "It was certainly unexpected, but very much appreciated none the less."

She headed into the kitchen and began reheating her supper. "Your brother was very helpful when I arrived -- the village has been in an uproar for a good week now about all the deaths. Was he able to keep you up to date on what is going on?"

The stranger with a big iron ate gratefully as his hostess prepared the guest bedroom.

"Well, ma'am, to be perfectly honest, my brother was a bit of a black sheep in the family. He put aside his gun and horse to move into this village and put on a mask. This house doesn't mean anything to our family, and he clearly willed it to ya. I don't know nothing about anything in this town, except that my brother had a message delivered to our family. It read "If'n ya get this, means I'm dead. Avenge me. Ramsus is behind it." Well, since leavin' the family to come here, he's learned to talk all fancy, but that's the gist of it. Who is this "Ramsus" fella anyways? Why'd he have it out for my brother?"

Oh, heavens, thought Kal. This will take a while.

“OK. I will tell you what I know right now. A little over a week ago, the previous Mayor was killed. He was the one who ordered the opening of the town gate, which may or may not have sparked his murder. There is a group of infiltrators who are trying to take over the town by killing or having their opponents killed. It was lead, at one point, by the Advisor who, coincidently was the inn’s owner. After his death Ramsus has been acting as the Mayor. He’s a slippery one…” Kal began, and proceeded to reiterate the various deaths that had occurred both day and night, giving her own exposition and point of view. She held his attention as she worked her way through the grisly story of intrigue and murder.

“…So from what we were able to determine, he was involved Naera’s hanging a few days before, though he publically denounced another. He just didn’t cover his tracks as well as he thought, but I have run across some information that implicates Ramsus with that same faction. I am still looking for the rest of the evidence, but there were some interesting documents among the original Mayor’s effects that lead me to believe he couldn’t be trusted…”

“…And so I told your brother about each of those… incidents,” she said delicately, taking away his now empty plate to replace it with a mug. “He seemed to agree that it was an issue, though he was killed not long after. It seems like he was looking into things. I’ve also spoken with both Torch and Nighthunter about this to varying extents, though it was a couple of days ago. I am still fighting to see what information I need or have but just haven’t realized it yet. But that is probably why he was sure Ramsus would be the cause of his demise. I really can’t disagree.”

Kal sat across from Face’s brother at last, taking a sip from her own mug. “So, that’s it. Or, at least all I have been able to figure out and my best guess as to why your brother was targeted. I hope it helps you to stay alive for a bit… I don’t think many people fancy their chances right now…”
