Sighing at the Absol's defiance, Aidan says, "Suppose I see why I got him for a Pansear... Still, I can work with him. Anyway..." Recalling the Absol, he then releases Zex near the yellow Pokemon, and calls out, "Tear 'em up, Zex! Scratch!" The Sneasel nods, and dashes forward, slicing at Jeans in passing, and striking at Disk as he skids to a stop next to Arachnia.

Arachnia's attack hits the Scraggy in the back, followed by Zex swiping through both the pokemon. The Scraggy falls "Disk, confusion again! Hit the newcomer!" "No wait-" But it was too late, the attack flies towards the dark type but just washes over. "Damnit, Sneasel are dark types!" "You should have told me sooner!" A red lizard with flame on his tail shows on the field.

Quickly scanning the fire lizard, Aidan calls out, "I don't like the look of that one... Zex, make another pass!" The Sneasel responds by darting back across the field, scratching at both the floating Disk and the flame-tailed creature.

The Bronzor takes the attack. It finally looks like its weakening. The Lizard grunts from the attack. "Burn it." The lizard (Charmeleon) grins and breaths a small gout of fire on the demon-weasel. Zex writhes in pain before falling to the conflagration.

As Zex falls, Donny sees one option open up to him. Arachnia, you see the fire lizard? Fire BAD! No Fire! It's gonna be okay girl, you can do it, I know you can. One more Poison Jab, then you can go to sleep. Promise? I promise. With that the Spinarak threads herself to the fiery lizard and jabs at him with her poisonous horn.

Donny returns the Spinarak when he feels her surprise and jubilation end. She had just been telling him how she beat the "bad fire" when she was hit. She was sleeping peacefully now in her ball, so he hoped. "I seem to be low on options, I hope this one doesn't hate me," he mutters as he releases the Elekid he caught earlier next to the Bronzor. He presses for the connection, hoping that the little yellow pokemon wouldn't fight too hard. You're in a battle. If you win, I'll get you tasty, tasty food. With batteries on the side. Now, step back, and roll at the blue disc with a kick!

What's going on!? Who are you!? What about food? The bird charges at the little guy, but he ducks out of the way at the last second.

"Funny. Spark! Spark!" The cat charges forward, sparks flying off slamming into the Houndour, dealing 35 points of damage. The dog moans before falling. "So much for cats vs dogs."

Food happens when you use Ice Punch. Otherwise the bird might just get your food, Donny tells Buzz. Hopefully the new tactic would work. He also scans the bird in case the Elekid really did use Ice Punch. It probably wouldn't last very long if he did.

Aidan shrugs, and says, "Eh, you know how it can be with new Pokemon. Though I see now why I was able to get Korex in exchange for a Pansear... good match, though." Taking the money, he turns to Donny and says, "You really pulled that one out for us. Nicely done... want to try and find another, or just head back and meet up with the others?"

"I think my little performance with Buzz," Donny says indicating the Elekid, "proves that I need more time to work with my pokemon. I wouldn't want to risk Echo to an electric type and I haven't had a chance to talk to that Sawk you sold me yet. I'm going to head to the center and get these guys patched up. Maybe check out the Casino too." Once the other trainers have paid up and left he adds, "Could you contact our employers, see what kind of support we can expect in Slateport?"

The Elekid comes off the battle field and asks, mentally, Where's the food? Come with me, we're going to get some. What kind would you like?

After learning about how Ergovores can eat batteries, and remembering that he needed food for Boxer, Donny stops at a Mart and buys the needed foods (-^750). Donny lets Buzz eat before he returns him and then he and Aidan head over to the Mauville Casino. It's still early in the day so Donny has no idea what to expect here.
