"You two need not to...involve yourselves anymore, you've done enough, wouldn't want the mother of my grandchildren hurting herself," Balboa said to Icy, staring at her but not in his usual leering way, twas just not the time.

"Sir, the fallen guard seemed to have something attached to him," One of the medics said as she looked over the body, uncovering a small blinking white box literally locked into the dead guard's back. "I believe it may be some sort of electrical current device---" The device beep as it suddenly exploded sending shrapnel and force pushing others in all directions. The guards in here moved to protect Balboa and take the shrapnel whilst one moved to protect Icy.

"Ack....my cravat...."

"Lieutenant, do not worry, it complicates it just a touch, but I wouldn't have done this if I didn't have a plan," She said still facing away from the eyes of her crew, feigning a strong posture.

Please do not risk our missions with pranks, Gear." He used the name "Gear". He was serious.

"Mr Balboa. I strongly disagree with your decision," Icy said coolly, brushing what debris that had fallen on her dress nonchalantly. "They have much to pay for, these Eclipse cultist. And I will have my vengeance."

Amid the rain of complaints and accusations, little Sandy piped up. One could see the very tip top of her head and horn peeking over the conference room table.

"I...well...I was thinking...'bout what th' Cap'n just said...about how she had a plan a-an' reasons for all this...an'...well...I think...I think she were right that I...um...wouldn't have...changed willingly..." The horn tapped against the table as she hung her head. "B-but if the plan needed me t'change...an' I wouldn't do it...th-then maybe th' root beer was th' only way...an' ya'll were just unfortunate accidents...maybe?"

Sandy looked up to Gearstride with giant, pleading, tear-filled eyes. "I-I mean, we've had awful risky plans before...a-an' th' Cap'ns always come through fer us...even when things got rough...s-so...I think we ought t'let her say her plan...a-an' then things'll make a lot more sense...r-right, Cap'n?" Her lip wibbled, dangerously close to a sob.

Lone Star blinked. I thought we were gonna beat 'em up and ask 'em questions.

Well it luckily seemed that everything is 'checking out' at the moment with what Fox said about his name an invite. "Escort our guest to the restroom would you? The conscious one." Ammy asks/commands of the guard before going back into the room. She begins relieving weight from the poor stallion without speaking to him.

"Well, I had originally just intended for Sandy Shores to be the only one effected by this change for my reasons, so I spiked his beloved apple cider with a potion I acquired in Trottingham. But then when it was being offered to us all in celebration....I just couldn't bring myself to warn you lot as then I wouldn't have been able to get Sandy to drink it. And also I was curious to see how you lot would look. Ahem...fret not...its not.........permanent." Gearstride answered as she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Her fore hooves were planted on the table as she had reared up.

Blaze
Blaze is silent for a moment, a quiet anger bubbling under the surface.
And then she spoke.
"So during an important mission you decided to try to pull this on Sandy. Even if you had some sort of "plan" that needed him to be a mare, I see no reason for it. The one we had already was already fairly perfect, and now since you didn't speak out when you absolutely should have, you have proceeded to muck up the operation entirely."
She shook her head disdainfully.
"After this mission is done, I'm leaving. I refuse to follow a captain who thought this the better course of action. I'll be in my room if some pony needs me."
Shaking her head at the captain once more, she stalked off to her room, locking the door behind her.

"That was the plan, Lone Star," Icy said with a thin smile. "I do not think anyone would question what happened to these vermin afterwards."

...Dunno if I should be cheerful or terrified right now.

Gearstride quietly listened to Rainbow with a grim tight mouth expression, though the corners of their mouth would falter downwards, still facing away from them.

"The mission would have failed anyway from the start if I was...entered or any of the crew's females." She stated cryptically when Rainbow was done. Though she winced a bit when Silverpine spoke, her mouth went dry there. Alas Gearstride would miss out on Sandy's lip wobble and big moe pleading eyes, back turned and all. And then Blaze spoke, stabbing Gear in the chest with their words, and so she hung her head low. "...Didn't muck up...anything..." She half mumbled, half whispered. And then she watched her crewmate up and leave which felt like a blow beneath the belt.

It was quiet and awkwardly silent afterwards, the verbally inclined captain now found words failing them.

A moment Earlier

As Sun Kissed opened the door to the freezer she found herself staring blankly at the sight before. Four ponies all geared up with some kind of suitcase behind them. They immediately glanced at her as then a unicorn among them magick'd up their horn and zipped her mouth shut before she could cry out. The freezer door was shut behind her as then a pegasus flew-darted at her and kicked her in her head, completely disorienting her as she stumbled.

"Good work, now is the bomb ready?" The presumed leader asked, an earth pony mare with severe intense eyes.

"Ma'am...It is but we haven't heard from group B, they ain't haven't made contact about their end." The pegasus replied, a young buck with black mane and yellow coat.

"Hmmm...well, good thing they're Team B for a reason." The severe eyed mare replied as the pegasus buck looked confused but ultimately shrugged.

"Alright, we move out, try not to kill anyone just yet, taking hostages will help give us the advantage."

"Uhm...right ma'am..." The guard hesitantly replied back to Ammy and then gestured to Fox to follow him, after putting on some restrains to hinder running away. Fox grimaced and glanced at Ammy.

Well, that blew up quickly. Silverpine watched as Blaze stalk out of the room, his eyes lingering on the closed door, before looking back at the captain. "... I'll talk to him... her later. I'm sure he... she didn't mean anything by it." The lieutenant sighed and rubbed his forehead. "Okay, why do you think the mission would fail?" he said, in an attempt to get things back on track. "Actually just tell us straight. Why the charade? You didn't need to keep this a secret you know."

Sandy shuddered as the slamming door echoed in the quiet conference room. A well of emotion wrestled in her gut; Blaze couldn't be right, could he-er, she? The Cap'n had always been so smart, and always had such a good head about these sorts of things. He'd never steered them wrong before. To think that he'd intentionally muck up an important mission...no, it'd be more plausible to think that Luna had just knocked on their front door to ask for her hoof in marriage.

The petite engineer had just started to ponder further, when Silverpine asked her question. She gasped in realization, and slouched down until the others couldn't see her over the table. Only Gearstride - and possibly Rainbow with her newfound height - could see the guilty-looking pony. "It's me, ain't it Cap'n?" she forlornly squeaked. "When we went out for intel...y'realized that I'd be a...a much better fit'n either you, Rainbow, or Hover. But because I might not've taken th' potion if y'told me to...y'had t'do it secret...then when I got th' root beer..."

Her lip wibbled and eyes watered once more; those attempting to look directly at the tiny filly did so under risk of diabeetus.

Hover stares at Gearstride. It an "You owe me" stare. Then the faux goth fluttered up and after Blaze at speeds not normals seen by her. "Babe?"

"No offense, Sandy but you lack the discipline and fire to be a pageant winner. Now I am thinking only First Lt has the qualifications." states the massive soldier.

"What?" Blaze asks, a bit of anger in her voice.
She was still angry at Gear, but trying not to let the anger out at Hover.
Her face, however, was still in a frown.

The other stallion seemed to be stirring a bit into consciousness.

Ammy makes sure that the stallion is properly secured before ignoring him and getting a breather in the hallway. She wants to use the other 'guest' as an example to loosen his tongue again. And now she's waiting in the hallway, completely unaware of any additional drama.

Any other pony, ie Fox Trot would have stopped to correct Lone Star and his inaccuracy, but Balboa could not give a bother for somepony who barely registered on his radar.

Instead he just shrugged as the room emptied of Icy and Lone Star as his focus fell on the other beat up mare being attended to.

When Icy got to the kitchen...or rather the front entrance to the kitchen, she would come see a gaggle of soldiers standing outside with brandished weapons, keeping to a ten foot clearance from the double swinging door.

"Careful ma'am, there's hostages in there, the whole kitchen staff trapped...folks in there threatening to off the staff if we're not careful," One soldier told Icy along with instructions to keep back, that they had this 'in control' cough.

Astrid would be seen there with a megaphone trying to negotiate with the bastards in there, she was obviously very annoyed and trying hard not to lash out lest she endanger the hostages.

As for Silverpine and Rainbow - without the table obstructing their view - they were treated to a full, double-barreled blast of adorable. A wide-eyed, lip wibbling, little leg flailing, rosy-cheeked, pig-tailed, squeaking blast of adorable.

That and the soldier had the temerity to ask her to stand back. Her! The one who could have flash-frozen him right there and then.

Her nostrils flared as she took a deep breath, then slowly exhaled. Okay. There might still be a way to salvage this manure of a situation. Slowly, she walked away from the main doorway, following the contours of the kitchen walls, to one of the side walls. If she couldn't come in through the door, she'd just have to make her own.

Idly, she wondered what Hay Bale was up to.

Unfortunately, that small corner was immediately tied up and left in the dark cellar of her mind. The lieutenant clasped her hooves, emitting a shrill squeak of delight as her jade eyes took in the adorable that was Sandy Shores.

"Squeeeeee, so cuuuuuuuuteeeeeeeeee," she squealed, moving forward to tweak her cheek, as well as attempt to snatch her from Gearstride in order to smother her in a great big hug.

"One of the big points you gave me in the past was that you didn't want me dying in the line of duty. So I promised myself that I'd get out if I could."
He looked back up.
"Anyway, I'd rather sit in my room for a few and calm down rather than go back right now. I'm not ready for it yet."

Thankfully, he didn't have long to ponder the implications before her cheeks were pinched but good. "Ack! Ow! Wha-mmmpppph!!!" And then she was gone. Plucked straight from Gear's clutches and buried in a world of orange cuddles. Only one, solitary hind leg, along with a little bit of poofy tail could still taste the free air. And unless the odd twitch could free her, they could do precious little against Silverpine's huggy assault.


This day seemed to hold many a new experience for the poor engineer.

Icy would probably find the lack of doors frustrating as she followed the contours of the walls. Continuing to follow along would bring her to a short hallway with a door at the very end.

As Hay Bale invisibly sneaked into the kitchen a loud wailing alarm would go off.

Yellow bellied coward." The mare in charge narrowed her eyes as she checked the equipment to find the heat source of whoever the intruder was.

"Whoever is in here I suggest you get the **** out or more hostages on gonna meet their maker!" She kept her guard up as she nodded her head at another pony wielding a rifle as they walked over to the freezer where the hostages were being kept.

"You say that Rainbow, but I can only reply with 'maybe'." Gearstride said just before Silverpine did her thing as Gearstride grinned and nodded her head, a little reluctant to let Sandy go.

"I know right? So damn cute....gyah mah pancreas!"

All at once, Sandy stopped her struggling. She looked at Silverpine, completely incredulous. "Si-silverpine?!" Had that sound just come from that mouth? That same mouth that could bark orders at the sky and the clouds would listen?

And more importantly, could she ever listen to one of his lectures again with a straight face?

Thankfully, he didn't have long to ponder the implications before her cheeks were pinched but good. "Ack! Ow! Wha-mmmpppph!!!" And then she was gone. Plucked straight from Gear's clutches and buried in a world of orange cuddles. Only one, solitary hind leg, along with a little bit of poofy tail could still taste the free air. And unless the odd twitch could free her, they could do precious little against Silverpine's huggy assault.

This day seemed to hold many a new experience for the poor engineer.

Silverpine rational side, having managed to cut its way out of its ropes and dragged itself out of the alleyway of her subconsciousness quickly booted the adorable-struck emotional part off the helm. The lieutenant dropped Sandy onto the floor like she was a hot potato, stepped back and straightened her uniform.

"Oh. Um. Sorry, Mr Shores. Won't happen again," she said with an embarrassed cough. She kept her gaze straight forward, lest her own body betray her again, though Sandy might see a slight twitch in her limbs. Then Gearstride's little ramble finally hit home. "Wait. Did you say one of your judge was your father?"

Icy would probably find the lack of doors frustrating as she followed the contours of the walls. Continuing to follow along would bring her to a short hallway with a door at the very end.

"Sir I need you to back away," The guard severely told Lone Star. Astrid gave an exasperated sigh and beckoned the whiny stallion over. And then a loud alarm went off.

As Hay Bale invisibly sneaked into the kitchen a loud wailing alarm would go off.

Well, if there were no doors, Icy was seriously considering breaking through the wall with a huge ice warhammer and get on with the program. As it is though, the alarms that wailed from within quickly sent her hugging the wall, her horn flaring in case of trouble. She relaxed slightly when the expected horde of mooks failed to appear, and tiptoed quietly to the closed door, trying to listen in before she made any further decision to charge in.
