WATCHTOWER 16: Quick and Dirty

Courtyard

"I was a captain in Russia's army," Boris explains. "We were recovering from a war when I ended up here."

[Morty]

[Courtyard]

"I suppose it is to be expected that this place will have many military men and women. My brother spent a lot of time in our duke's forces. Is captain a high rank?" Mścisław asks curiously. He's never heard it before.

[Morcleon]

Forest -> Away
"You don't understand."
Ki rushes through her body, destroying the med-bots as she got up onto her feet.
"Don't follow me."
And then she flew away.

Forest

Yuki just stands there, eyes closed in defeat. He sighs. "...dammit."

[Devixer]

"It's more in the middle. I commanded a squad before moving into special forces," Boris says. "There, rank doesn't matter as much."

[Morty]

[Courtyard]

"My brother told me that in armies such as yours, a man doesn't have to be a noble to command. It's hard to believe," Mścisław says with a shake of his head. "That he could only be a high-ranking footsoldier no matter what he did made him really angry."

[Devixer]

Courtyard

"Yeah, it's very different in my army. The only thing that will take you up the ranks is merit, not blood." Boris had to earn each of his promotions, and nobility being some kind of gate is hard to envision for him.

[Morty]

[Courtyard]

After talking to Boris for a while more, Mścisław leaves to meet his son. He spends a while speaking with Siemko and Wenomir, and then prepares to leave. Anyone is free to run into him before he's gone.

[Shadowcaller]

A certain short raven-haired sorceress is attempting to find Wenomir, it appears to be of some importance. Instead however she finds his relative. "Excuse me, are you a new member?" She asks the newcomer while approaching him.

[Morty]

[Courtyard]

Mścisław tips his hat, then shakes his head.
"No. I'm Wenomir's brother, Mścisław. I was visiting him and my son, who's studying here. You must be Lady Cessie Mithar."

[Shadowcaller]

[Courtyard]

Cessie returns the nod. "Yes, he have mentioned me? He never told me he had a family around here."

[Morty]

[Courtyard]

"He didn't?" Mścisław sounds somewhat surprised. "He told me and my family about his friends from Watchtower. A while ago, two of your people saved my village from fey and demons."

[Shadowcaller]

[Courtyard]

"Ah, now I remember. He said something about that. I'm glad we were able to help even if I weren't directly involved with it. It's a pleasure to finally meet you sir. But what brings you to Watchtower today?" Cessie asks.

[Morty]

[Courtyard]

"I was visiting my son. He turned out to be psychic, you see," Mścisław says. "It must be the Nexus affecting him, since we have no such people on our homeworld. Master DC offered to train him, so he's staying here for the time being."

[Shadowcaller]

[Courtyard]

"Nexus effecting him? I've honestly never heard about that." Sounded rather disturbing when she thought about it. Was the nexus effecting them right now? And how? Could such an effect be measured? Would people in Hestopia be effected by the nexus too? Directly that is, the indirect effects were already visible.

[Morty]

[Courtyard]

"It's the only answer that makes sense," Mścisław says. "Like I said, there are no such powers on our homeworld. And Siemko never showed any signs of them while we were there. It's only after coming here that he started moving things around with his mind."

[Shadowcaller]

[Courtyard]

"But can you be sure of that though? Even if you haven't heard of it, it might still exist." It didn't exactly look like Mścisław had undergone any serious studies about the subject. <.<

"In any case, we would a much larger test group before we could come to any conclusions on the matter, but I digress. Do you perhaps know where your brother is?" The sorceress asks.

[Morty]

[Courtyard]

"I'm relying on my brother's knowledge on this. He spent a while fighting for the Inquisition, encountering plenty of supernatural," Mścisław explains. "When I left him, he was heading for the library, I think."

[Training Grounds]

In another timeline, Wenomir is here after returining from Hunting Grounds, putting on a pair of silver boots with a very dubious expression on his face.

[Shadowcaller]

[Courtyard]

"I see, well it was nice talking to you Mscilaw." She says with a nod, managing to mispronounce his name. "I won't delay you any further."

[Morty]

[Courtyard]

"Farewell then." With that, Mścisław leaves. If he has noticed Cessie's mispronounciation, he made no note of it

Garden

Mia is sitting in the garden in front of the Main bulding. She was quiet busy with her church and MDM felt asleep before they managed to get into the Room.

She has placed herself on the offline Golem, watching the snow fall.

[Morty]

[Entrance]

Wenomir will arrive here, followed by Shinako and Tenny.

[Shadowcaller]

Cessie will once she have bid farewell to Mścisław go and look for Wenomir in the library.

[Morty]

[Library]

Wenomir is indeed there, looking for something amongst the shelves, it would appear. He looks down from a ladder when Cessie enters.
"Oh, hello Cessie. Has something come up?"

Mia is sitting in the garden in front of the Main bulding. She was quiet busy with her church and MDM felt asleep before they managed to get into the Room.

She has placed herself on the offline Golem, watching the snow fall.

A young man, dressed in a pure white suit, walks through the snow that was his namesake. Yuki has a thoughtful expression on his face, but seems to just be wandering along without much purpose.

Perhaps he would like someone to talk to.

Wenomir will arrive here, followed by Shinako and Tenny.

Shinako follows Wenomir up to the Entrance, reading a thick pamphlet apparently entitled Lonely Multiverse Travel Guides: The Nexus.

"Everyone sure seems to love acronyms around here," Shinako says, reading.

Then, looking up and noticing that they have arrived, she says, "Not too shabby."

"So, we just ask around to see if anyone wants to help?" Shinako says.

[Zefir]

Mia waves down from the robot she is sitting on. "Hey Listen" ((I couldn't resist))

She waits a moment to get his attention.

"Why do you make such a face?"

Broken from his thoughts, Yuki stares up at Mia with a faint smile. "...hey."

"Hm? Oh, yeah..." He sighs and steps closer, stopping a comfortable distance away from the robot. "I'm just thinking, I suppose. About... this whole place. I'm rather new here, actually..." Trailing off, he begins to chew on his lip, glancing away.

Well, ideally, Wenomir here will know someone who can scry, or do whatever the technological equivalent of scry is. He says, waving his hand about vaguely and hoping someone knows what he's talking about.

He brushes a bit of dust off his blue robe, and straightens his matching wizard hat.

[Entrance ==> Observatory Level]

"That won't be necessary. We have an observatory here that I can use," he says as he leads his two companions to the top of the tower and the observatory level (described in the first post of the thread).

Garden

Broken from his thoughts, Yuki stares up at Mia with a faint smile. "...hey."

"Hm? Oh, yeah..." He sighs and steps closer, stopping a comfortable distance away from the robot. "I'm just thinking, I suppose. About... this whole place. I'm rather new here, actually..." Trailing off, he begins to chew on his lip, glancing away.

"Hey!" Mia shouts from the top of the robot. I should note that the robot is offline, so a small layer of snow can be seen on him.

"Don't trail off. What did you want to say?"
