Just out of curiousity, what is the accepted market price for a strange huntsman?

The reason I ask is that I had someone offer me six keys for mine (after I told him I wanted above market price for it since I wasn't really interested in selling), and now I'm wondering if the place I've been getting my prices from is inaccurate.

For what it's worth, no, I didn't accept his offer.

6-7 keys are the market price, IMHO. The wh is over stocked and sells them for 6.7 keys (if you sell 7 keys to the warehouse you can buy it and have some left over), which means anyone paying more than that is a fool.

In other words, he was lowballing me, but not trying to outright cheat me.

I also evidently need to find a new source of pricing information, does anybody have any suggestions besides warehouse?

What are your thoughts on the value of The Tux (linux Penguin)?

    A) It is comparable to the Earbuds, in that to get them a player needs to launch TF2 in a different operating system within a certain amount of time.

    B) Hypothesis: It is easier to acquire the Tux than it was the Earbuds. (I do not know this for a fact)

    C) The Tux has a shorter window (2 weeks compared to the 2 months that the earbuds had)

    D) If stats.tf is accurate, then the number of tuxs has increased about 2k-3k per day. As it stands now, there is about half the number of Tux(i?) than Earbuds. If this stays true and if Valve doesn't increase the drop time, then they may be more rare than the Earbuds, despite the suggested ease of acquiring them.

    E) Tux has styles, but Earbuds have particles (as if people are actually wearing them.) Earbuds trade value is well established, while Tux is not. These facts mean the demand for earbuds may be more than the demand for Tux, which, given the limited supply, may greatly effect the price.

    F) It takes time to establish fair trade value. Earbuds started significantly low in trade value as well. Current range of 'Promise' trades seem to be between 2-10 keys. Given thoughts A-E, do you think this is too low or too high? Trade now or wait a few weeks, or months or years?

    A) Given.

    B) Hmm. I'm going to have to say false to this one. In order to get the tux, people needed to install a whole new operating system, and one that is much less common than either Mac or Windows.

Plus, it's a pain to get TF2 to run on Linux, due to driver issues.

    C) True. Hopefully Valve won't punk us by extending the window.

    D) If it comes down to it, I'd rather have particles than a penguin on my butt. Just a thought.

    E) To me, Earbuds are worth so much for two reasons: They have a limited number, that will never increase. However, the greater reason they are worth so much is because people agree that they are. They're the cash of the economy because they're liquid. Everyone will trade for and with buds.

Thus, while Tuxes may be rare, they will only be worth as much as Earbuds if the community agrees that they are worth Earbuds.

    E) Right now, people seem to think that they aren't worth much, if only because everyone and their nephew will be trying to get one. However, I believe that it would be a good idea to stock up, because their value will go up.

    Free? Yes. Compatible? Absolutely.

However, the hassle of getting it working will probably prevent most from putting it on their computer.

I didnt needed any working drivers to get Tux.
1, Downloaded virtual box with linux
    2, installed steam and tf2
    3, started tf2 ... (tf2 didnt actualy work)
    4, Tux!!!

True it takes longer to get it work but once it works there are no problems. I like Linux but i dont like the fact only one third of games i have on Steam are available on Linux.

    My experience with linux:
    1) Install Linux via Wudi
    2) Doesn't work. Reinstall Linux
    3) Give up.
    4) try again, get linux to work.
    5) Linux crashes
    6) try again after researching coding
    7) reinstall linux
    8) Install correct Drivers
    9) Install Steam
    10) Nope, reinstall Steam.
    11) Steam works, install TF2 from back up.
    12) Wait one day to copy files from back-up.
    13) Fail. Wait three days to download and install TF2
    14) Great now everything seems to be working fine. Yep tested it out, Linux doesn't seem that bad. I remember DOS
    15) Linux fails to load despite working perfectly 2 hours ago and all I did was turn off the computer.

I'm actually looking forward to Windows 8 now. Well played Microsoft.

I've seen threads about people losing their account by using some virtual boxes, apparently the providers gained acces to their steam accounts and changed the passwords. Glad that didn't happen to you.

Heh. My experience was more along the following lines:

    1. Boot Linux
    2. Install Steam
    3. Nap in the library while TF2 is downloading
    4. Tux.

Granted, that skips some stuff, like having my roommate install Linux six months ago, and losing the ability to boot into Windows when I updated to Linux 12.04, but still.

On tux prices, I am guessing that once the initial craze dies down, the price will go to around 1-3 keys. Simply put, people have had fair warning, and have been able to stock up on them, and Meet the Stats only shows items in public inventories if memory serves. The only way I can see the price of tux skyrocketing to buds is through market manipulation and price gouging.

    My experience with Linux:
    1) Install Virtual Box
    2) Download Ubuntu
    3) Try to get it to work
    4) Rant and swear at my computer when it doesn't work
    5) Try again
    6) Repeat step #4
    7) Ok, working, now to install steam!
    8) ****! I need something called jockey-common
    9) Go to firefox [which at least ubuntu comes with]
    10) Download jockey-common from first hit on google
    11) Doesn't work! Repeat step #4
    12) Eventually find out that the actual jockey-common I want is on the 4th or 5th google hit, and that the one I downloaded was outdated
    13) Works! Install Steam!
    14) Install tf2.........not enough space. Repeat step #4
    15) Sign out of ubuntu
    16) Shortly after, sign back in, see ubuntu has for some reason removed steam and everything I installed on it.
    17) Repeat step #4
    18) Reinstall jockey-common and steam
    19) Try tf2 again, not enough space....repeat step #4
    20) See steam library folder is limited to 1.3gb...for some reason?
    21) Try to find steam library folder.
    22) Fail, repeat step #4
    23) **** ubuntu, quit and never come back
    24) Have trixie log into tf2 for me
    25) Obtain tux

    My takeaway from all this:
    Step #4 ubuntu.
    Happy Trixie Appreciation Day!

Little update: the medal I have is clean, and there are only 61 in the whole game. http://stats.tf/item/636/Uncraftable...s_Silver_Crest

    my experience with Linux:

    1. Download
    2. Install
    3. Why does this not work?
    4.
    5.
    6.
    7.
    8. Welf: I've been working on installing Linux for I don't know how many hours, and it still doesn't work Other guy: I use Mac, I just downloaded Virtual Machine and installed Linux and TF2. Took me 2 or 3 hours till I got my Tux
    9

But I finally managed to install Linux with WiBu. So now booting takes more time, and in exchange I have a completely useless Linux due to it's slowness. I could install genuine Linux, but I'm already permanently damaged from last attempt. All in all I probably invested 6-8 hours in Linux. For a profit of maybw 10 USD. So my hourly wage was around 1,25-1,6 USD.

But at least while doing it I had a lot of fun... My life's a waste

Well, at least now I can call myself a Linux expert on linkedIn and charge 160 USD an hour for my expert opinion :E

I assume you want the strange versions of all weapons listed. If so, I can give you a strange sniper rifle for a ref. I can also give unique versions for most of those weapons.

    SteamID is Balmas.
