And would've been off by exactly the same amount (877-276 = 600+1; 875-276 = 600-1) if Rich had not needed to memorialize Gygax and Arneson RIP.

I think that one's still a legitimate mystery, though whether it's plot-relevant remains to be determined. My gut says no, but after swearing up and down that there was no way Malack was a vampire, I'm a little less certain about such things now.

I realize it refers to how dragons are color-coded and fiends are a hectic mess of classification as per the punchline, but in retrospect now that we've seen the IFCC...brings a different angle on the title, neh?

Oh. Well... was that a thing to be foreshadowed? I don't know that it was ever a secret that he was a different kind of reptile thing. Like, I think the characters probably knew, even if the average reader assumed otherwise. It just wasn't a big thing.

Durkon clearly didn't know and maybe with the exceptions of Haley and Elan i think everyone would have said something if they'd noticed.

We're not talking about him being a vampire, here, right? I thought it was just that he was a specific kind of lizardfolk that moves around on his body/tail thing rather than on legs.

Unless being a vampire does that to you. I don't really know all that much about lizardfolk and vampires.

Halfblood yuan-ti do have at least the possibility of ending up with a tail and no legs, and a snaky head.

Alternatively, he might be a lizardfolk based on one of those lizards that only have forelegs.

@Linker: No where taking about the fact that he's legless. Nobody knew that prior to him pulling that trick out on Durkon in their fight.

That's what I was talking about, yeah. I don't know. I didn't personally see it as some big surprise. Rather, I sort of thought "Oh yeah I guess I should have seen that," what with panels like panel 3 here. I feel like the characters would have noticed either way, being in an infinitely better position to distinguish between a guy walking on legs and a guy sliding along on a tail. It's probably pretty plain if you're standing in front of him yourself. Durkon was surprised when he got wrapped up, sure, but that's not totally indicative that he didn't know about the lack of legs -- Malack was trying to move fast and catch him off-guard with a unique technique. It's going to be surprising.

I guess it's possible either way. A perspective I hadn't considered.
