I think that until the comic is actually done, it's a bit premature to criticize the character development or lack thereof. For all we know, Hussie's going to address this once Aranea finishes her exposition on the cherubs. For now, Homestuck is a work in progress. Once Hussie's had a chance to wrap everything up how he wants, THEN we can start judging it as a completed work. Also, I'm a little annoyed at how long the MSPA Forums have been down, especially because our original estimate was only two days. I for one assumed that meant the server people already had everything all figured out. And there's stuff I've been wanting to do, too! And Ninja Dragon, I'd have to disagree with your assessment of Caliborn's alignment. He's obsessed with following the rules to the letter (but not the spirit), so I think he's Lawful rather than Chaotic. I'd be surprised if anyone legitimately disagreed with the Evil part, though.

Works done in serial or segmented format don't get auto shielded from criticism. Stories don't usually change several hundred pages in when written by one author in terms of writing style when written by one person, and Hussie has never been character focused. He's not gonna suddenly do a total 180 and have the most excellent and poignant development ever because it's not how he works and it's never how he works. He's had ample opportunity before now narrative and hasn't really tried beyond a couple of occasions that haven't really gone anywhere. It's not the style he's ever done in, either in the previous adventure or with his other projects like And It Don't Stop. He's always had this specific style visually and with humor and storytelling wise and any kind of characterization elegance has never even pretended to factor in.

He is not obesessed with rules, he is a cheater. He wants the rules to follow him. He doesn't care about the rules of the game, and just wants Hussie to give him all the spoilers and information that he needs.

Actually, he reminds me a lot of Xykon. A destructive and unfocused evil guy who only cares about destruction and wouldn't do anything big if he didn't have help (which, in Caliborn's way, we have yet to figure about the nature of).

    Maybe he is Neutral Evil...

I think the fact that Hussie's been at a con would be part of it.

I don't think Hussie's involved in the forums upgrade. I'm pretty sure it's a separate team. Of course, I could be completely wrong, but I'm reasonably confident that I'm right. Anybody with actual definitive knowledge one way or the other, please weigh in on this, preferably with concrete evidence. Or magic forum-restoring powers. I'm not picky.

People in this thread ask me why I enjoy homestuck, even if there are a lot of flat characters and messing around etc.

The updates that Hussie has done now are exactly why. I love the worldbuilding Hussie does; it's something that I love looking at- I love examining the intricacies of the world that spring from his admittedly strange mind.

    Poor female cherub.

Also, were those 2 trolls the fantrolls from the kickstarter?

    Those they were.

    10,000 dollars.
their reign was brief but eventful, which is more then enough for eternal glory.

I'd judge, but I think think it may be a tad hypocritical.

Well, they did get exactly what they paid for. Canon fantrolls who did not live past a single panel.

I distinctly remember, that Hussie officially declared all fantrolls canon (yes, even the... not well thought out).

Although knowing Hussie, now that they've gotten even a glimmer of screen time, there's a pretty good chance that they'll be back at some later point. I mean, this is the guy who went from "eh, maybe I'll show a little bit of the trolls" to "I'm going to explain the full backstory and characterization of the troll's ancestors, including a multi-part flash game where you can talk to and play as all of them to see how they interact with each other."

    So, more info about cherubs.

Surely it's been noted before, but while the Sun will indeed turn into a red giant one day, it will not end its life as a supernova.

As it happens, our heroine's m8 discovered Earth, long after it had journeyed to a new sun, and long since new civiliz8tions had risen and fallen.
Earthsearch? is that you? (probably not, I don't expect Hussie to reference a 80's British radio show)

Something tells me you aren't down with the clown, super dark. You're not down with the clown at all.

I reread sober Gamzee's chatlog with Dave. Dang is that dude crazy. Also, apparently Lil' Cal was talking to him. Is the puppet sentient, the ultimate expression of the cancer that's to blame for everything going wrong, or was it just the malign animating influence of Caliborn?

    (Or was Gamzee just insane?)
