For whatever reason the King is now a six foot tall bipedal cat wearing a bow tie and an absurdly tall white top hat with yellow stripes.

"Eh hehehehe! So easy you see? That won't be the last question, sure as no doubt," the King laughs rather heartily. "I'll answer it quick, no reason to pout. I'll give such an answer, one just for you! But only should you pose it in the form of haiku."

Well.

To be fair that isn't so bad.

Hopefully the summoner is aware of that particular form of poetry.

Hadlin thinks. That was an obscure type of poetry from Varja, wasn't it? 5-7-5 if he remembered, and it didn't have to rhyme.

I really must find her soon.
It is Critical."

That did it, right? God, that was terrible.

Specters are weird. And generally a bit on the dangerous side. Usually they're the result of a ghost finding its wisp (or the other way around) and the sudden awareness they gain can be... jarring. In Amil's case her memories had been preserved and now they've been copied.

Not only that copied but reunited with her spirit!

Apparently the twins were unaware that memories and consciousness are two different things in Amil's world. Ah well! Amil isn't complaining!

Kate passes a hand through Amil! And Amil doesn't seem to notice. "Right. Need to move. Need to... find something..."

And that said she slithers between the cracks in the roof.

...

For a few moments nothing happens.

And then a vaguely animal-shaped thing made of tar and concrete and steel and wood all bound together by very real ivy rips its way out of the building. The wood in its body looks as though it has become petrified and shimmers with emerald opal.

"You're right, Kate," the clutter of stuff agrees. "We need to get out of here. Down the fire escape?" Amil points a cobbled together 'hand' at the steel structure nearby.

Kate thinks that it would have been better to just get back into the bland body, but whatever.

"Right, let's go." She gets all of three steps before invisible hands push her back. Kate's lucky that it's just a push. Invisible hands also grab Amil's soul and spirit and try to plonk them right back into the bland body. These voices are very strong and dextrous in the realm of souls...

"Ohhh, nooooo, don't go away, we've been waiting and waiting for the time to get right!"

"Stupid time bending. That took foreeeveeeeer!"

"But now we're back and we know what to do!"

"Yeah!"

"No! Leave us alone!"

[Musical CHAOS!]

For no readily apparent reason the King is back. But now he's wearing shades and his robe looks more like a bathrobe than something a king should be wearing. He's also holding an open carton of half and half.

"Critical? That's just, like, your opinion man."

He then drinks from the carton. Of course his mask has no mouth and so the half and half goes spilling down the front of his shirt.

Then he vanishes in a poof of yellow smoke!

All that remains is a huge neon sign pointing at a nearby roof with no building attached. Large flashing letters read,

Yanking on the spectral Amil is rather akin to trying to pick up a cat clinging to the arm of a sofa when they don't feel inclined to move. She's coming out of her thrown together body, causing it to crumble apart as she's removed, but it is a rather slow process.

"Go bother someone else you monsters!" Amil spits as the extremities of her body begin to crumble. "We don't want anything to do with your sick game!"

They'll get Amil out eventually. But it'll take some time and effort. Now that she's aware of what she can do in her new spectral form pulling her around is quite a bit harder.

"Come on! You don't want that ugly thing! I'll make you something that matches you! It'll be beautiful and amazing just like you!"

"Yeah! She has some really nice ideas! You'll be more beautiful than you could ever be in that thing."

The duo will wrestle Amil out of her body, perfectly willing to spend the time and effort. One they get her there, they will keep her there. However strong Amil may be now, the pair won't seem to strain or notice that she's stronger. How disturbing.

Kate has to stand by and watch. There isn't much else she can do. She feels so helpless.

Hadlin centers himself, before raising a hand and calling, "Lix Tetrax! I call upon thee!"

An elven woman appears, her body covered in a shining white robe. She's stunningly beautiful, and floats above the ground on a pair of beautiful gossamer wings.

She presses a hand to Hadlin's chest, and vanishes the way she came. A pair of beautiful ethereal wings, however, sprout from Hadlin's back, and he begins flying towards the rooftop.

... Where he'll likely see two featurless women, one unconscious, the other panicking, and a spirit of wood?

I wonder if the voices will interrupt him.

Amil is finally pulled out of her body!

It collapses into an inert heap on the ground whilst Amil wriggles about in her naked ethereal form. Spectral vines scrabble at the roof, desperately trying to find purchase on anything. Though sadly no such thing is found and she gets shoved into the blank body again.

Said body snaps into consciousness as a pair of emerald lights blaze to life approximately where eyes should be. Ivy begins creeping across the body as skin becomes rough and bark-like. Amil flips off her back and onto all fours, creeping toward the nearest wall like a cornered animal.

"S-stay away from me! Leave me alone!"

The blank body is already contorting as the specter's magic seeps into it, slowly eroding its form like tree roots eroding stone.

To be fair that was fairly awesome. Sigil wrinkles his nose at it a bit. Celestial magic is weird. And the Celestials aren't terribly fond of his Mother and her kin for rather obvious reasons.

"Through sheer grit and dogged determination. As jarring as the Nexus' nature is its adaptability is also its greatest strength," the unicorn replies. "There's little that it can't bounce back from."

Aaaand there's the library!

The Librarian is out front at the moment tending to his planter boxes full of flowers. The fellow appears to be a rather scholarly looking elderly gentlemen calmly water his marigolds. When a towering pillar of chaos magic splits the sky he pauses to fish a silver pocket watch out of his coat, open it, close it again, and then replace it. "Your friend has not been here, I am afraid. Her plan is being carried out and as you can see-"

He gestures at the sudden onset of a herring storm in the distance. "-the Nexus appears to be doing its best to balance against her efforts."

...yeah...

Sigil is staring off toward the roiling epicenter of chaos not too far away. "...I... I think Hastur just assumed an avatar. And Eris just blarged an discordant singularity in the middle of the city. This might be really bad."

"Mm... Quite likely," the Librarian replies as he fishes an errant root grub out of the flower bed and tosses it into a nearby bucket.

[Outside Philip Memorial Library]

Oh hey, that feeling of awesomeness kind of just went away.

Rainbow Dash decides to hover a little closer to the ground about now, as the sky over there decides it wants to be completely and utterly insane.
Really, even Discord might be impressed by whatever-the-heck-that-is.

"Probably not."

Pinkie has returned from dispensing cookies to shoggoths and is nibbling one herself, sort of casually leaning on Applejack in the process.
The farm-pony is entirely too stricken by the sights to really notice.
"Wouldja look at that..."

Rarity is giving Fluttershy a little hug, before she and Luna turn to Sigil (and technically the Librarian too).
"I believe this is the point where you may start filling the rest of us in, before we"(Fluttershy) "get a little too worked up, yes?"

"That would seem...prudent. What would an avatar of Hastur be capable of? And who is Eris? Are these likely to be direct opposition to our work?"

"Hmm... this isn't working. I know!" The blank body will suddenly stop degrading due to the spirit inside at all. Not because it's reinforced or anything, but because it just cooperates with it. It's acting as an extension of her soul, not a vessel for it. Well, it's still a body, but... it's like it's made for Amil on a metaphysical level. It just can't react with Amil's soul poorly!

"There! Come on! I'll make you sooo beautiful!" The shape of the body will change, once again molded by unseen hands, into a tall, lanky, but fit form. Hair of long, beautiful vines comes out of her head. Her flesh turns into ironwood, and an actual face forms. It's her own face. From back before she died/was turned into a tyranid.

Her clothes form around her, a long, beautiful dress made of surprisingly durable leaves. All green and vibrant, it accents her form and shimmers in the sunset/starlight/whatever.

A bizarre, mirrored pane appears before her. "Look, aren't you beautiful? And you're strong and can talk to plants!"

When did the voice sneak in plant empathy?

Kate will watch in wonder (horror?) as this happens. Hadlin, however ,will hear a voice. "Are you their friend? Don't worry, they'll only be a moment. We know exactly what to do!"

So, wait, that featureless girl is Kate?

Uh oh. Whatever these entities were, they were malicious. Or at least didn't have a concept of boundaries

"Kate!" Hadlin will charge forawrd and try to scoop up both Kate and Amil; he's surprisingly strong, given how scrawny he is, and should be able to pick up both of them and still fly.

The voices, however, may take issue with this.

Just then, another tall redhead in stylish clothes skates by effortlessly and gives a friendly wave. "Hi Tracey!"

Needs nods, blithely ignorant of the similarities between the two. Stacey's aura doesn't even look remotely close to Tracey's, anyways. And if he had to invoke either of them by name in magical ritual, he's sure the obscenely complicated combination of alien syllables used as shorthand for a person's entire genetic sequence and life-story would have at least six non-matching paragraphs of gibberish to go through.

"There's a green fellow who thinks me and mine are the knock-offs. His name is Magtork, of all things. Magtok was going to have me kill him with my magicks, but the skin sample I was given to use as a focus? Turns out it was actually some kind of exotic alien mushroom that was growing on him. He's kinda gross and smelly."

This is coming from someone who'd been wearing that old yellow robe for how long, Needs? I mean, I don't think you've taken off the clothes Tracey picked out for you at Mallside since you got them. And don't tell me that meditating inside of a furnace is an adequate substitute for bathing; you wind up smelling like coal and smoke and charred bones every single time you do that!

The cyborg's head picks up, and he finally sees fit to contribute.

"I can vouch for Eris not being a serious threat to this mission. Whatever she's doing is probably just harmless shenanigans tied to that spooky costume party thing from October. She even asked nicely if she could use the casino for it, instead of just seizing it and doing whatever like some deities would. Hastur, I don't know a thing about, though."

...Wait, when the hell did they get here? Are those shoggoths? Holy crap, Sigil, what is wrong with you?! You brought him and the ponies to a place where shoggoths are wandering about, are you insane?! Magtok blinks in shock, suddenly developing a very strong urge to stay close to the middle of the group, with at least one pony between himself and the horrible monsters and fishmen all around.

Well. Maggy has spoken up about the goddess of discord before Sigil could say anything. And to continue that trend he gets interrupted right about the time he opens his mouth to answer the other part of Luna's question.

"Well honestly? Last I checked this 'Twilight Sparkle' is planing on trying to harmonize the whole Nexus. GAG! Can you imagine anything more boring than that? Trying to get rid of all this glorious chaos?"

Fluttershy may or may not have just been displaced about six feet to the right and now the unholy lizard-snake-sea anemone tentacled thing that is Hastur's starspawn puppet is likely to have its one of its limbs wrapped around pegasus in a hug.

"I mean, really?" he leans in close to peer right into the yellow pegasus' eye. "I think I'll just sit back and observe. It's sure to be hilarious watching the purple unicorn try and fail."

The thing scoots back, rising up to its full height and leering down at the ponies (and cyborg). "Though I should probably warn you all. Some jerk went and told a bunch of adventurers about your friend's plan. So they'll be just dying for a chance to liberate her head from the rest of her body to win some quest XP."

That leer grows even wider.

"Think of it as a race and a hunt all at the same time!" the creature laughs, suddenly clothed in an English fox-hunting outfit. "The game's ahoof, everypony! Who's going to find her first? Tallyhooooooooo!"

Hastur then gives the bridle attached to the end table/lamp combo he's riding a sharp yank before galloping off into the distance.

Well, see, Amil isn't exactly what she used to be. She hasn't been in quite a while. And the specter magic isn't trying to make anything oh so pretty and elegant. As soon as the touch of the voices are gone the body will begin to warp and twist once again with wild growth, thorns and spines and briars and lashing ivy.

"I SAID DON'T TOUCH ME!" Amil shrieks, venom dripping off her body and sizzling on the ground. She's backed up against the wall of the roof access (that doesn't actually go anywhere) and vines are already biting into the concrete and ripping chunks off to be incorporated into her growing form.

"Yes, very different. Prawns are better." Pepperjack really doesn't know anything about aquatic life if he doesn't know that much. There's really no excuse for it, it's not like this place is a desert, there's a seafood resteraunt right there across the street. Or it looks like a seafood resteraunt at least. With teeth and knives and severed fish-heads on the sign, I don't like to imagine what else it could be. "Name's Melbourne."

Ignai stops, not realizing why. She knows she doesn't want to be there any longer, but she feels the need to speak up one more time to respond. "Because I'm scared." She clenches her teeth and turns to continue walking once again.

"Well, I've never heard a prawn speak it's virtues over shrimp or lobster before. What brings you to here, Melbourne?"

Of course, that would quickly draw Elexxion's attention, but they wouldn't do anything overt if it's on someone's private property. "Audrey's probably in the Blue Zone, looking for a client to protect herself. The other two... they could be anywhere."

Then this talk of Remnant. Clearly these two don't understand what Elexxion's done to the Red Zone. Or at least a large portion of it. "Elexxion makes the people here happy. Gives them everything. Ninety percent of the employees were homeless three months ago." Anger - perhaps simulated - shows on Kailee's face. "Could you imagine if Remnant tried to shut them down? The 'real police' hardly even patrol here."

"You wouldn't happen to have something of theirs?" Ashley says, an idea coming to her. "I might be able to scry for them. And if we find them, I can help them too if they need it."

"We shouldn't go to Remnant anyway. They might want your tech too, She says. "Maybe we should head somewhere lower-key, someone else might come for you."

As you begin to walk away, a flash of light explodes behind you, and she stands up unsteadily. Wreathed in a dark, flashing aura of light, her eyes are closed, not in anger, concentration, or even in sadness. She actually seems to be... asleep. But then, a voice sounds, not from her own throat, drawling and amused. "Ehehe... now look what you've done... Poor little Hikari-chan... she's so distraught at what she thinks she's done, she's forgotten to keep me controlled!"

The possessed Hikari steps forwards, controlled by Sayuri. She stops for a second, then chuckles darkly. "Let's see how I can corrupt this light of hers, yeah?" She charges, with a glowing fist drawn back!

Ignai cries out and starts full out running before Sayuri even starts to charge. If she wants to attack Ignai, she'll have to catch up to her first, and the homeless woman isn't particularly slow.

Imesah turns and draws her shield as soon as she notices the flash of light. It was clear to her that this woman was a danger to everyone nearby, and as a Warrior of Sunlight, she couldn't just walk away.

So as Sayuri charges, she'll probably find that Imesah is in her way, with her shield raised. Her other hand is till holding the piece of canvas, and is now starting to crackle with lightning.

Michicora will see a wall of darkness swallow up the entrance to the alley, effectively giving them some privacy. Trisha breaks off the kiss and grins at the elf. She doesn't say a thing, expecting Michi to know what it is supposed to mean.

The elf smiles shyly at Trisha as her hand slowly start to run along the curves of her girlfriends body, but she doesn't initiate anything however. "Let's wait until we get home. They say that anticipation can heighten the... pleasure."

Tent of Chaos

Oh my look what time it is. As Kate goes to give Amil a hug, a small sparrow happens to be flying through the sky above the tent and manages to flap its way through into nothing, coming out the other side as a pile of atoms in the shape of a sparrow but with its feathers on the inside. Suffice to say it doesn't last long.

But its noble sacrifice seems to have triggered another fluctuation in the park's atmosphere as things suddenly... flip, for lack of a better word.

The circus tent is balanced on the point of its main tent pole stuck deep into the park's ground, a mass of netting strung across the stands to keep the audience members from falling out as the animals continue traipsing around the red and white canvas cone that is now their stage. The trapeze and balancing acts hardly miss a beat, continuing their work as if the wires had always been set up danging from a scaffolding.

Likewise, the roof everyone had been standing on is now upside-down, and the fire escape is on the opposite side from where it used to be, though gravity appears to be keeping everyone stuck to it, which is probably preferable to falling down to the lions, tigers, and bears below no matter how trained they are. Everyone standing on the roof may find themselves facing the opposite direction they were in relation to each other, so Kate walking towards Amil might suddenly be walking away from her.

Other more insidious reversals could possibly take place as well. Rather than have no features, Kate may suddenly find herself completely featured! Er, in possession of features that is. It's hard to tell who's features they might be, so that is left up to her player.

Likewise, the distraught and panicking Amil might find herself suddenly calm! Although how long that state lasts depends on how things go in the next few moments, certainly. If she starts getting poked and prodded again there probably won't be much to prevent her from going back into a freak out.

Hadlin hasn't actually had anything done at him worth reversing, so he remains unfortunately boring!

And the two cheerily-colored disembodied voices might suddenly find themselves in the possession of bodies! visible ones that tie them to this earthly meatplane even! Who knows? When the hole goes SHLLLIIIIREEEP anything might happen!

Milton Street Bakery

As they approach the bakery, Vinny and Elaine might notice an unfortunately familiar face dozing in front of it, in the form of a twenty foot long bronze dragon, sans pirate hat and fake parrot, snoring out little puffs of black smoke and fire as he waits for his favorite bakery to open.

Looks like he wasn't able to follow them out of the vent after all, so he simply went out the front door and flew here once the lights came back on.

Well.

This is kind of confusing.

Of course, since gravity is now pointed up Amil's sense of equilibrium is informing her that she's still standing, y'know. Not upside down. And since everything else has been inverted too her eyes aren't disagreeing.

Just like standing on the other side of the planet, right?

Amil suddenly finds herself VERY calm. Almost serene. In fact, quite serene. Her mind isn't racing with half-formed thoughts about protecting herself and she isn't greedily devouring spiritual energy around herself any longer. Both of these are good things.

Lashing vines slacken as the still quite warped Amil just... sits there... And maybe gets a hug from Kate. We'll see how that turns out. For now Amil is just going to sit there doing her best to process everything that's going on.
