Now with big people crowding around it the small crabby rock extends a pincer to pick up and throw the fish skeleton about 1 ft. in the parties direction with great effort. then lets out a quiet high pitched rumble.

Your memory is not photographic, but you are 70% sure you have read the following and are remembering it correctly.

Vol. 1 Ch. 2 Pg. 59 Magical Animal Properties

Although little is known about the elemental planes, it is theorized that all planes share the same space and time and as such there are fire element fish could be swimming in a fiery equivalent of water. Most will die in a new environment, but when close to its home element it may be able to survive in the material plane.

This could be a rare Earth Elemental Crab or a crab cursed to this environment with natural camouflage lacking a proper color.

Demarius sees the little crab it seems like something the Dwarves would see often underground, but it is unfamiliar to you. Maybe because it is only native to this region and not the mountain rages from the north.

Through the passageway the second suspicious rock is almost 3 ft. in diameter

Janick searches the desk and finds papers written in what you think may be elvish, but they are all very faded.

Yeah I'm ok.. Just watch out if you come through! There's a chest here, I'll try to open it.

Janick takes the strange-looking papers, thinking that maybe someone in the caravan would be able to read them, then proceeds to try to open the chest. This is probably some thief's hideout since it's so hidden, he thinks.

The crabs rocky outer layer cracks slightly and it scurries to the small crab standing directly between you and it.
