That really jives well with my idea of how the final episode might play out. A spell switches up Cutie Marks and destinies, leading to a bad future. To undo it, Twilight might have to get crowned royal princess (Or help someone else do so) to undo the spell and bring back the original status quo.

This fits my headcanon of Sombra coming to power via a coup rather than via succession, because it gives him a reason to plan and execute a coup. Much obliged.

...the title of the Crystal Empire's monarch is properly "King" or "Queen"? It wasn't just something Sombra made up: the first Crystal Faire was held by the decree of the Empire's Queen. To me this suggests that the coronation in question is supposed to be Cadance's, as Queen, not that anypony will be crowned Princess.

If it is, I've never heard anyone mention it before. Though I have heard a theory that Chrysalis was the princess in the story. (Which could mean that there's a Changeling King somewhere out there, too)

At any rate, I'm not a fan of the headcanon that Cadence is on par with Celestia and Luna. Mostly because she seems to have aged at the same rate as normal ponies.

So I'm back after another break when I couldn't immediatly get to the new Discord episode.


I went into that episode expecting things to be well done but ultimately disappointing. I mean the premise was absolutely crazy and looked doomed to failure. and while it was a little rushed it worked out in the end. Tons of fun and entertainment was had!

To put it another way it was basically this story but worse due to time constraints.

Seriously that story is amazing. Go read it, even though it has been destroyed canon wise.

Speaking of which I have never seen so much fanon rounded up and slaughtered in one episode. A moment of silence for everyponies loss.

If you mean Discord-is-totally-Evil-fanon... Well, you will probably have missed it when I said it at the time, but I frankly don't buy Discord's face-heel turn even slightly; not in the long term, anyway. I think he was either resigning himself to having to play nice for a bit (realising he had been out manouvered, and then only thing that would happen if he pushed it further was being petrified again), or he's so completely murcurial and genuinely insane that he believes for a moment he's actually going to turn over a new leaf (which will last for exactly as long as it takes for him to get bored and his lack of impulse control to reassert itself). You might even argue that the effects of the Elements of Harmony did more than just petrifiy him, and they have had a slightly more lasting effect that might wear off at any moment.

(I also think, for a meta-narrative perspective, getting rid of a solid villain like Discord is somewhat... wasteful.)

Put it this way, I might believe he's actually turned not Evil after the third or forth time he shows up again in a non-villain role... Otherwise, it's all still to play for.

Alright, first off that he and Celestia were in a relationship. Or that he, Celestia and Luna used to be friends. That was shot down completely. Though a lot of CelestiaXDiscord still exists as evidence.

The idea that his powers were just powerful illusions and all his powers were strictly mental is gone.

The idea that he only has partial control over his powers is gone.

Any idea that involved him remaining as stone is now gone. Celestia keeping enemies as stone statues in the garden is gone as well (If she was willing to try to reform Discord, then I think anyone is fair game.)

The idea that he's basically psychotic is gone as well, or is a literal manifestation of his nature.

Actually that last one would be interesting if it is that way and he's just decided to fight his nature like in A Head Full of Cotton Candy.

I don't buy Discord's face heel turn either. I think he's going to end up like you in a way. You know, mostly merciful to people/ponies you like but not caring and doing whatever you want to everybody else. I think he's going to be a lot more subtle with his mischief in the future as well.

Sorry for bursting your bubble but Discord was never "Evil". Selfish? Sure. A villain because of it? Yeah. But not "Evil", unless in MLP "Evil" has a different meaning (because it's a kids show). And the whole "Spirit of Chaos" thing I personally treat just like a title, not a fact. Discord is simply Chaotic Neutral (to borrow D&D terminology) and he likes the chaos. He's not insane, nor evil.

The thing is it's not like he now thinks what he was doing was wrong. He just doesn't want to upset Fluttershy so she stays his friend. That is an entirely narcissistic reason to not shatter the world and it doesn't go very far.
