It might be figurative though. We never ever got an indication of some other "presence" inside the vampire's bodies. Hell, even Spike managed to retain some of his humanity/caring side while still being without soul.

Also, in the TV show, and the Comics, last i knew, we only see one true demon ever, every other is a halfbreed or lesser demon.

The term "Reptile" has all but no meaning in evolutionary biology these days. Learning about the Archosaurs really shattered my idea that you could organize all the animals into 5 groups.

These days birds are sometimes considered reptiles in some biological circles. While at the same time... you could really make an argument that they're no more related to reptiles then mammals are, since they're all decedents of reptiles in one way or another (Since many reptiles like dimetrodon are more closely related to us then they are to lizards OR birds.)

I think it still works if you make a special exception for the Archosaurs and exclude the Mammal-like Reptiles.

There is no such thing a "tidy" classification in evolutionary biology. (I'm looking at you, seasponge.)

Nope. A vampire is undead and when an undead is killed (destroyed) it is reduced to dust/ash/bone meal/whatever and is unresurrectable.

You can resurrect someone killed by a death effect or someone who has been turned into an undead creature and then destroyed.

The lines about "you die- and a demon moves in" do suggest that it isn't just that there's no soul- but that there's an active, demonic soul present as a replacement.

I don't think Buffy-demons HAVE a soul. But I doubt it was ever worked out to that extent.

Yeah, it seems that Buffy vampires have all the range of human attridutes, love, hate, pride, arrogance, etc. EXCEPT for empathy and concience. That seems to only be connected with a soul in the the Buffy-verse.

ALL order is imposed from the outside. You just have have to get comfortable about that and the fact that without at lest SOME order (even if it is artificial), it's impossible to come to grips with all the information out there.
