Eldan commits Crimes against Art
Usually, I make vague pencil sketches, now I actually got a better pen and invested some time in GIMP processing and colouring the image. The result isn't even all that bad, though it shows just how much I have no idea how to make something look three dimensional or how to do hands and feet (lucky for me, toad fingers look flabby and vague anyway.)
This is Xanxost, the blue slaad. In a game I'm currently running, he's the chef and proprietor of an interplanar gourmet restaurant serving lower planar specialties he hunts himself.

Re: Eldan commits Crimes against Art
Well it's certainly nowhere near as good as your singing, but it is better than anything I could hope to make

Re: Eldan commits Crimes against Art
Maybe, if I get any ideas.
That said, singing? I'm reasonably sure I never sing where anyone can hear me.Resident Vancian Apologist

Hope nobody orders frog legs....they might not make it out alive.
That said, ordering anything with eggs around a slaad isn't a good idea either. The Chaotic Evil Dungeon Master

Re: Eldan commits Crimes against Art
Ooh, right.
There's a few sketches lying around that I might try colouring. But right now, I just found several variants of lizard and bird creatures and I dread, totally dread inking individual scales and feathers.Resident Vancian Apologist

Re: Eldan commits Crimes against Art
If I may...
Doing so would look terrible anyway.
For the lizard: you really don't need to ink scales at all. As long as its smooth, and looks reptilian in shape, you'll get the point across. Perhaps you might ink a few in one small section if you feel it necessary, but there would likely only be two or three instances when it would actually be necessary: one, the extreme close up, two, to mark out oversized scales (ie, on a Dragon's underbelly), or three...I forget.
As for feathers, if you look at a normal bird from a normal distance, you'll notice that they are very smooth. At worst, a bit fuzzy. You never would see the outline of individual feathers except on an outstretched wing.
I could provide some examples later, if you wanted to get an idea of what I'm talking about. Hope I was helpful! There are no impossible encounters. There is only inadequate preparation.

Re: Eldan commits Crimes against Art
I don't know. I remember doing a series of sketches for a lizardman based on a horned lizard and the scales are very noticeable.

Re: Eldan commits Crimes against Art
Spoiler
Ferandantilax, the miniature dragon. Do not call him a kobold, he's just temporarily diminished.
Messy sketch. Arm proportions are way off, I still can't do fingers or toes that work.
Will try inking it later. Dreading hte scales already, I think they are too small so I probably can't even do them without turning hands and legs into a solid mass. They are also way too scribly, around the joints, I have to do proper ventral and dorsal plates.Last edited by Eldan; 2013-07-13 at 02:40 PM.

Re: Eldan commits Crimes against Art
Oh, the head is just a standard blue dragon with some adornment. Pretty much copied that from google.
Corrected some annoying details, gave him proper scales and I'm inking now.Resident Vancian Apologist

Spoiler
Really hating that hand now. It's huge and deformed.
Oh well. Better claim it's a buff spell and it was intended like that.Last edited by Eldan; 2013-07-13 at 03:43 PM.
