Greetings. I am Prometheus, and I write this to express a desire to join your grand endeavor. I represent Excelsior, a dissociative hivemind of scientists and warriors. We are experts in a wide variety of fields, including robotics and spatial mechanics, but our speciality lies in bioengineering. From careful manipulations of viral strains to shape to them in to useful tools, to performing surgeries to affect a change at the genetic level, we possess a mastery over life that you will not find matched in the Nexus.

We would propose to add this expertise to the grand experiment that is Skyside, in exchange for a role in guiding the city. Our interests in this are chiefly scientific- To see first hand the growth of a new society, and to study how such a machine might be influenced. At the same time, I shall admit, we have our less altruistic goals, desires to increase our wealth and territory. But all, I assure you, for the final goal of furthering the cause of knowledge.

And what do we offer the city in return? We have proven military might, which will be a great asset to all when Watch or Halo or Remnant or some other fools make an attempt to tear down what has been built. We have the skills mentioned prior, as well a ready source of power sufficient for an entire city, at a fraction of what a competitor would charge. But any fool can provide brute force, and a surprising many have achieved technical skill in the sciences. No, what we truly have of value is vision.

I will provide an example. This is simply a rough draft for a plan, the beginnings of one, yet, I think it will succeed in illustrating the manner of project we intend to undertake should we be granted the status of Partners:

In a city such as Skyside, freed from the soil, I expect there to be some issue over sustenance. Relying upon supplies from the lower world has it's obvious disadvantages, while hydroponic greenhouses are a clumsy solution at best. But with our understanding of the building blocks of life, we can provide for a more elegant answer- Crops grown not on dirt, but on the ethereal energies abundant in the air of the Nexus, and with a little further modification, meat grown on the same vine. By this method, reliance upon the earth could be severed and Skyside brought a step closer to self-sustaining independence, fed upon the fruits of its own labor.

I hope this serves to demonstrate what we would work towards, given the opportunity: A city free to its own devices, sustained by its own brilliance and ever marching forward.

I am Atorre, and will be contributing to Skyside however I may. I hope to do so as one of your Partners. I used to be a group of scientists and explorers and students; now I am rather different. The growth of a free society is a matter of great interest; the lands below are chaotic enough, and Skyside will take things to their natural conclusion. It is a matter of even greater opportunities; the minds looking for actions without law's limits are a resource it's hard to find elsewhere. Too many fear to try for greatness or are caged by petty regulators.

To the city, we will give what we have. Energy from our reactors will help, though there are many ways to generate power. Might and weaponry, though there will be many who can help defend the place. Cloning tanks, though they cannot yet nearly compare to Magtok's work. What we know best are the sciences of the mind, and what we offer most is insight. We can put human minds into machines and use machines to run minds, link consciousnesses together and split thoughts apart. We can draw together and focus the brilliance of Skyside's residents, we can see into their thoughts and and find dangerous dissenters, wastes who will never amount to anything, unfound genius.
Unlike many who wish to be here, I am not a famed villain, a hated scoundrel, a great hero. I will not draw the public's eye. That has its uses as well.

As a partner or just a citizen, I will this place succeed.

Hi. I’m Arthur Rock. I’m a military R&D scientist. For the non-scientifically inclined, that means I make weapons.

I’m also an arms-dealer who’s been selling the weapons I make through the company I work at, Warwick Works. I got my start selling illegal, home-made weapons in back-alleys in Inside, and then ‘legitimized’ my work by selling them off-plane through the company. It’s run by my boss, Winslow Warwick. Maybe you’ve heard of him. He’s a part-time supervillain and I happen to be dating his daughter. I got my start as an intern, and so far, Winslow hasn’t showed any inclination to get rid of me, so I must be doing something right.

Of course, the fact that I’m still making stuff on the side besides the stuff I sell through Warwick Works, and then selling it through black market channels means that I’m hardly a model citizen. Guess it’s in the blood. I’m half-fiend, but that’s not really important.

Anyways, my entire career is built on weapons design, and a lot of the reason I went through black market channels was because the big buyers (Remnant, and other organizations) never really went to Warwick Works for their defense contracts. Most of my stuff has ended up being used by the armies of dictators on backwater planes of existence most people have never heard of. Certain companies or individuals ALWAYS got the big offers in the Nexus. Remnant almost never outsourced any weapon production at all. When it did, the job certainly didn’t go to WW.

What I’m saying is, I’m interested in becoming a Skyside partner primarily because I think I can actually reach my full potential here. This is an opportunity I simply can’t pass up. In a place like this, with no lawful restrictions on weapon sales or research? Pardon the pun, but the sky’s the limit. My experience in weapon design will directly lead to Skyside’s defensive capabilities being up to the task, in the event of an outside threat. I have sufficient capital to back up the venture from my black market sales, and I have some business contacts in Inside - both lawful and otherwise - that I can call on for assistance in the event of a crisis facing the city, and I’m not exactly an idiot when it comes to matters such as resource-management and practical applications of technology or research. This is almost literally all I do in my spare time.

Hopefully, that means I’m cut out for the job. I’m a decent guy, by all accounts, but I’m practical enough to just do things the way they need to be done. No pointless mass-murders, no pointlessly cruel human experimentation, no strafing runs on random crowds for the hell of it, and no wasting military-grade munitions on a fireworks display in my honor. Now, if a guy's causing trouble, by all means, shoot him.

Anything I do will have a purpose behind it. The city has to operate smoothly, and the body count should ideally be low. Puppy-kicking is a waste of energy and is non-productive, so if you’re looking for someone who has that kind of viewpoint, here I am. I’m practical, I know that sometimes you need to break a few eggs to make an omelet, and I have the money to back up anything I might need to contribute to the city to make my position worth a damn.

In short, I know what I’m doing. Between that and my weapons research, I should be a good contribution to the city’s partnership.

Are things still happening in the Hunting Grounds? I kind of figured that the chrysalid wasn't pursuing Ash, and that Aric was, well, dead. Sure, there's a growing plague of aliens, but that's not an immediate problem for any of the three (soon to be four )
Ash might go to find Aric, maybe bring him his things, maybe steal them. Or the items might go with him, or the wolf might just leave.

He had not moved as he reloaded. His gun is now loaded and he raises the scope up to his good eye, to see a ball of flame come flying his way. Marty knows about the properties of Fearblaze now. He stands up, walking straight into the fireball, no fear in his body. He doesn't really value his life anymore, he's not afraid of pain or death. He merely grins nastily as the flame probably goes right into him and evaporates.

Umm, MadSingingHatNoodle? The Fearblaze is not Hellfire. it does actually burn whether you are afraid or not. It just gets an added bonus if you ARE afraid...
