[Nexus] Trog's Tavern CCXLV

[Deathkeeper]

Krayger shakes his head. He has stereotypical up-pointed horns by the way.
"Not at all. And don't be nervous. I don't bite, and I don't think anyone nearby does, either"

[Earl of Purple]

"I've never been in a tavern before. I'm more nervous now than when I found my first ruin, even though I didn't have my Lockpick then." He pats the crowbar at his waist when he says 'lockpick'. He'll also sit down. His shirt and trousers both look like they've been repaired, but are in very good condition.

[Deathkeeper]

Krayger chuckles.
"A more able lockpick was never invented. And don't worry about most of the bar patrons. Generally the only idiots who start trouble announce it, which for a lad like you is probably enough time to take cover. And not too many people start a bar fight with someone whose drinking buddy is seven feet tall."
And that is, in fact, how tall Krayger is without his horns.

"Justin disagrees. He wants to teach me proper lockpicking. So far, it's gotten me into nearly every locked container I've encountered. The one exception was the back of a derelict old lorry, formerly belonging to some company called Aperture." And if you whack somebody over the head with a conventional lockpick, you tend to look a bit silly.

[Deathkeeper]

Krayger shrugs.
Versatility is never a bad thing to have. Give it a try, maybe you'll get good at both. Truth be told I'm pretty good with mechanical things. I'd probably be good at that sort of thing if, well...
He holds up his hands. The hugeness of them, combined with the fact they only have three fingers each, does not lend itself to lockpicking.

"Maybe. I'm more interested in learning how to use a gun, though. I've been lucky so far- every ruin I've found has either been uninhabited or whatever lived there was less dangerous than a slightly panicking amateur with a heavy metal rod." Bramble smiles as he describes himself. He doesn't panic so much any more, though, as he's not quite the amateur he was. Still doesn't know how to shoot, and doesn't own any armour, but the Lockpick, PipBoy and a lifetime spent trying not to be noticed work quite well together.

Well, I can't help you there. When push comes to shove I just smash things with an axe. I've been thinking that if I can ever find a decent paying job I should get one with some of the crazy tech this place has.

"I've no intention of working any time soon. I support myself through exploration and walking, both of which I enjoy and are quite profitable. Plus, neither has somebody that can tell you what to do, how to do it, where to do it and can punish you when you do it wrong." Bramble's opinion of working has been tainted by his experience as a slave.

[Deathkeeper]

I'd like to do stuff like that, but I honestly have no idea where to start. Although how do you find profit in walking?
He also, oddly, doesn't like going alone.

"Walking is how I find the ruins to explore, and it's cheaper than maintaining any form of vehicle. Though a magic carpet or broom might be worth getting; I'd be able to see interesting places from the air. Though if I'd started with one, I think I'd have missed my Lockpick." The Lockpick is actually the crowbar's name.

[Deathkeeper]

Sounds fun. I'd like to try that sometime. Gods know I've been awfully bored around here without much to do.

[Earl of Purple]

"If you have a map, there's a group of buildings I found not so long ago in Outside you might want to poke around in at some point. Looked pretty deserted, but I didn't poke around- I was carrying a lot already, and didn't want to make a detour. Oh, my name's Bramble, by the way. I've not had it long, so I'm not in the habit of introducing myself yet." Because that's what Bramble spends a lot of time doing- finding dungeons for the bored, and Justin.

[Deathkeeper]

"Oh. I'm sorry. My name is Krayger. Nice to meet you."
He extends a hand to shake.

Bramble is confused by the hand, staring at it confusedly. And not just because it has less fingers than his do. After a short period of time he'll look up and start ignoring it. "So, um, do you have a map?"

[Deathkeeper]

Huh. Whatever. Krayger was sure that shaking hands was a human thing. He appears to not have made the connection to the "not had it long" statement.
"Uh, no. Although if you verbally give me directions I'd do fine. Minotaurs don't get lost, you see. Ever. Unless very heavy-duty magics are involved or we're kidnapped and moved very far away."

[Sneaky Weasel]

Urgh. How long has she been asleep? Far too long. Shaking off the heavy layers of deadtime, Miss Alice Q descends from the top floor of the tavern. Adjusting her tophat, she surveys the bar, blinking rapidly. A fight seems to have just finished, as per usual for Trog's. Nothing to be worried about, as long as she stays out of the way. Her headache is a far more troubling occurrence. Somewhat unsteadily, she makes her way to the bar. "Some tea, if you don't mind." She then returns to surveying the room.

"If I showed you a map, would you be able to memorise where it is? My map doesn't show roads or anything, though, just places it thinks are important." Like GLoG, Trog's Tavern, Inside, Church Hill Church and various other places Bramble has visited since he looted it from a lorry outside Vault L. Though he didn't know it was outside Vault L and didn't explore much further, anyway.

[Deathkeeper]

"Oh yeah, that would work too. Although I really can't pay you for it. Without work I'm very close to broke."
Probably because he hasn't done anything since he was promoted from NPC.

[Earl of Purple]

"If you give me advice on what to order, that'll do. So will information on somewhere interesting you think I'd like to check out." Bramble hasn't been here before, so he really doesn't know what to buy.

Bramble is only just not an NPC himself.

[Deathkeeper]

Well, I'm always a fan of the ale here. I've actually never ordered much else. And what kind of place would you like to visit? I've sticked mostly to Inside, myself.

[Earl of Purple]

"Somewhere abandoned, preferably deserted, with a possibility of loot. Only a possibility, mind; I've got enough stashed away that I can afford to have a few dead trips." He saves money by walking, eating the food he finds in Fallout-style ruins and not buying clothes, plus he lives as a refugee at GLoG.

He also orders some ale and holds out his PipBoy to show Krayger an icon named Green Toe Estate Ruins in Outside. It's quite a distance away; just under a day's journey.

[Deathkeeper]

"Well, I took a break in Outside once. I found a small number of houses right about...here
He points a thick finger at a spot on his map.
I only went into one, but it was completely abandoned. Maybe you'll find a safe or something, because the whole night I spent there I didn't hear a sound or see a light."

Bramble lifts his PipBoy's screen up where he can fiddle with the dials and buttons and marks the location upon it using one of its functions. He'll also order an ale.

[Deathkeeper]

(Another ale or did you just forget he already had one?)
"Thanks, Bramble. Do you know anything about this place? Because if there's the chance of anything I can't stop with an axe there I wouldn't be able to go alone."

[Zefir]

"Oil? Where from?" Atorre takes in a deep breath of the Tavern air, and doesn't manage to smell anything.
"Hah. I can't notice it yet." He does start to look around curiously, as though he would see the source of the smell.

"Must be from there." she points at the back door. "I'm sure someone is there spliting it around."

The door swings open and in steps a drow dressed in blue. Some might recognize him as Raril Xar'Cha, and old face around town and the current owner of the Black Dragon's Den. One might wonder what he was doing here and not at his own bar. Then again, relaxing where you work was probably hard to do.

The drow takes a chair at an empty table and looks over towards the bar, apparently looking for someone. He frowns after a moment, and settles back into his chair, ordering a Llamanade from Nina as she walks by.

[The Bushranger]

Nina quickly delivers Raril's order, giving an almost uncharactistic smile at recognising an Old Timer.


Not so old-timer-ed is the young woman who steps into the bar a few minutes later. She's of slightly more than average height, and is somewhat generously proportioned, but her most distinctive feature is her multicolored hair, strands of red and black intermingling in a not-displeasing effect. Wearing a comfortable jacket and riding pants, Andromeda Vulpan looks around before heading to take a seat at another empty table, and orders herself a Black Shadow before giving a nod to the drow in blue.

The drow lifts his glass in response, giving the woman a friendly smile before he takes a sip of the drink. "Good evening." He says in greeting. "I don't believe I've seen you around here before."

[The Bushranger]

"Good evening to you as well. I haven't been out and about too much since I arrived in this...area," the young woman replied, only a slight hesitation indicating where she changed the tracks of her train of thought. "Although, you seem almost familiar? My name is Andromeda Vulpan, but please, call me Andy," she introduces herself.

"Well met." The drow replies with one of his trademark grins. He then raises a questioning eyebrow, asking "Vulpan? I've heard that name around before. Are you related to that fiery priest fellow?" Raril had never really spoken to him, but knew a bit of his reputation from speaking with others.
