Hey @GDM? You can attack Kal, or you can attack Decker, but it isn't reasonable that he'd be able to attack both Decker and Kal in the same round of posts.

    Also, it's @Hatter's turn.

I was going to wait unless you wanted to pull our characters out midway through. I'm going to PM Viera soon anyway, because if he doesn't come back to his own topic soon it's going to die. Jace seems to have really terrible luck in this sort of thing.

I feel need to mention this, as I recall seeing you use Bluff in a similar way. There are no skills in FFRP. This isn't DnD, nor does it have anything to do with DnD. When you use the words Intimidate and Bluff like that, it means nothing. Just describe your character as intimidating or say that they're good a bluffing. Don't refer to skills from a game some of us have never played.

This. Whether your character supposedly has one rank or a hundred in an abstract skill covering every possible method of intimidation doesn't matter here. What matters is how they attempt it and how you describe that attempt.

EDIT- And on another note, trying to intimidate people really doesn't work that well in the Nexus. With the world as crazy as it is those who scare easy tend to end up in mental asylums. Where they are then eaten by ghosts/eldritch horrors/Dr. Strofflenburg.

Also also. Hatter has not posted yet. People are taking waaaay to many actions in response to an action that may not even have succeeded. In an ideal world, people would have waited for Hatter to respond before posting at all, but in lieu of that, maybe we could limit ourselves to only one action per round?

Admittedly, some characters or items are made to exist with all the mechanics from their source material intact, but usually they're made to focus on that or are self-explanatory, like my Minotaur using a scroll of Gust Of Wind, or GrandDM's character who is completely powered by the rules of fictional universes.
In this case, the character in question doesn't usually focus on Pathfinder things, so I think the complaint's valid, especially in the case of abstract things like Skills.

That's why I keep having my character trying to get everyone in the room to JUST STOP.

    Because

    1. If everyone keeps going, he won't have a chance to catch up.

    2. It gets really tiring that nobody is taking Felandria REMOTELY seriously.

I think I have done a really good job of not throwing her power around, but if everyone just keeps ignoring her, she will HAVE to do something.

I'm just irritated that everyone keeps trying to marginalize me.

Decker rarely takes anyone seriously. But she's especially not going to take Felandria seriously. She was raised in Hell by the Archdevil of War, and her allegiance is to the Iron Queen, Persephone - another daughter of Zeus (though possibly not the same Zeus). So yeah. She's not even the slightest bit intimidated. Which is a shame, because it's really difficult to intimidate anyone in the Nexus. I know it sucks when you ought to be a terrifying character, but the other PCs in the room have seen things just as terrifying or more so.

OOC, I understand your concerns and don't want to marginalize you. IC, Decker doesn't care about Felandria, or her powers, or her wishes.

But most importantly, no one else should post in this scene until Hatter does.

Thing is, the Nexus as a whole takes very few people seriously. On arrival characters can expect zilch recognition, less so the more they try, because villains on the whole tend to be a sassy, immature lot around here. Those that do get respect, tend to earn it by consistently doing stuff and being around.

That said, that's all IC. I don't think that, OoC, anyone is trying to marginalized your character, from what I've seen they're just doing the usual zany villain thing.

Well, what else am I supposed to do?

Here's where I'm at right now:

Nexus High: At the mall with friends, scene hasn't budged in nearly a week.
Outside A: Canoodling with Steve, stalled for over a week
Outside B: Exploring Oaktown, where apparently I can't blink without arousing suspicion.
HALO: Killing time until I can join, waiting for a bandaged man to tell me his name.
The Second Titanomachy: Finally something is happening there, but it was stalled for weeks.
    Casino: Being marginalized and ignored.

Understand, I love this place, I love you guys, but this is KILLING me.

I am doing everything I possibly can not to overshadow anyone, trying to keep things moving, let everyone have their fun.

But at some point, it would be nice if someone actually asked me to play, instead of begging to tag along.

Admittedly, I was probably responsible for stalling the Titanimachy for about half that time, but that's mostly because it had already been dead for a month and I kinda thought it would stay that way.
But otherwise, these things happen. Jace, who is supposed to be my main character, has had him caught in month-long deadtimes or had scenes cancelled four times (no hard feelings though). Lex's first companion quit the forum, Mark's second scene stopped when Pringles left the FFRP, and my NCR Ranger got almost wrecked when Earl sprang way more demons than I expected on him (again, this wasn't an actual problem.)
As to your scene with Mindfreak, he just doesn't post often. And you think that maybe Zefir was deliberately trying to make the town paranoid for atmosphere?

Sorry about that, Lord Deathkeeper. I don't really plan things, so it was completely unintentional.

I don't think you quite get what I'm trying to say here. You don't need to tell everyone to stop, because everyone should be making one post, and then waiting for their turn to come again. Here's how it should have gone.

Kris posts. Reinholdt Posts. GDM Posts. Felandria Posts. Happy Posts. Hatter Posts. Everyone has now posted, so now Kris gets to post again! And so on. If everybody is patient and respects turn order, the scene will continue smoothly and no one will get skipped, and everyone only gets one post per 'round.' Instead, GDM made a second post this round. And then you made a second post this round. If people keep making multiple posts before other people get a chance too, it can cause a bunch of chaos and make people irritated if they were the ones who got skipped without being able to take any actions. And I would really like it if that didn't happen. I'm sure you would too.

So now. Everyone. STOP. POSTING. Until Hatter manages to get his post in. Please?

Edit: Also, I'm really sorry that you're feeling really marginalized in the Casino. Please understand that it's not our intention to make you feel that way. Happy has already explained Decker's mindset, and Kal is much the same way. He's a half-devil rogue from the same Hell who doesn't really have much respect for anyone, and tends to act in a generally condescending manner to most people he meets. He's kind of meant to be a colossal douchebag that way, and the only people who he treats with any form of respect are certain AMENites who he thinks deserve it (but only a little), Butler (whom he came to try and rescue) and especially Decker, whom he likes enough (in a way that both confuses and scares him) that he'll try to protect under her any circumstances, which is why he's flipping out a little right now over Marcy insulting her. Anyone else tends to fall by the wayside.

Yeah, FFRP can definitely be slow. Especially so when your new and your characters are still getting established. There's really not much you can do. There will be fast scenes and scenes that just drag on. You just have to roll with it and do what you can to alleviate the issue.

Plot cloning and asking people for RP is the way to go for me. If you have an idea for a scene with a particular person, ask them directly. I've found that too often general calls for RP are less effective than doing targeted scenes.

    On HALO:

This is why vesting the ability to let new people in in one person is a bad idea. Especially when that person is controlled by someone who, no offense to FF, just isn't very active anymore.

I get that, IC, it makes sense for Toby to be vetting people before they're let in and such, but I think that OOC, it just isn't working, and as such we need to adopt something else, or just go back to the old method.

Yes, true, fine. There are no skills. But it's not like what Fel was trying to do was unclear. There's no need to jump down her throat for making a simple mistake. I get that that probably wasn't the intent, but... You came off as pretty aggressive there.

Edit: Also, Fel, A, sorry for dropping that first scene we did. B, I have someone who might be interested in talking to IC you, so would you be up for a plotclone in NH?

(Though bear in mind, I'm probably going to be heading off for a few hours soon, since I have an acting class to go to.)

Oh, don't worry about it. The reason I made a Fallout character for that and not, say, a Loxodon berserker, was that I wanted to see a fantasy vs. tech sort of thing. I was totally okay with Nick/Cal getting killed, as long as he came across as a badass soldier, which I think he did even when he was starting to break down near the end.
At the same time, sorry for lobbing a character hook at Bramble out of left field. I was trying to think of something valuable to find in an abandoned, mostly cleared house, and the thought of making a Diana Wynne Jones reference just came to me.

Don't worry about it- Bramble's either going to find somebody he trusts for the griffin or keep it himself. And that's one evil buttock pet.

I'm not sure if I've read any Dianna Wynne Jones. The name's familiar, though. Is she the author of the Italian magic series featuring that guy with the silly title and nine (ish) lives, and multiple worlds?

Indeed. The very one. Slightly juvenile for my age group, but I still remember them fondly. Although only one book is in Italy. And yes, Chrestomanci always seemed silly to me, too.

Yeah, I know the Titanomachy is likely doomed, but it's such a perfect fit for my character.

I already talked to Mindfreak and we both know how to wrap that scene up, it's just a matter of getting it done.

And I'm enjoying the scene with Zefir, it was just weird when I expected a lighthearted romp and suddenly I'm in a sociopolitical thriller.

Sure, does she need to meet your character somewhere?

I think the Chrestomanci lives in Italy, though. And it's the one set in Italy with the two feuding families that I read first and remember most- it's got a rain of eggs on the front cover!
