Well I assume he meant that you'd kill the travel days. Instead of traveling for days after every event area. You'd just skip near the entrance of the event areas. On the other hand, those are your encounters. Serph clearly has his own stuff planned and it's up to him whether to ditch those for whatever you want to duct tape onto the plot. In fact, I'd suggest maybe PM'ing him a more detailed explanation than maniacal laughter.

I still have only the vaguest idea what the mining station is like, and none at all about the other location...

I think maybe missed the point where I described it. It's a mining rig centered over the heart of a large crater sitting in the middle of a temperent, meadow-y bit of Outside. It is, however, covered in an invisibility dome, so the station itself isn't visible until you pass through the done.

More than that, I will describe once people get there.

Where said crater is certainly helps.

Might I inquire as to how they're finding the invisible crater?

They would have been given coordinates that would see them inside the dome. As for Fortress Mountain, they should already know where that is, shouldn't they?

They do, I just have no idea how far outside it the place is, if it's a forest, tundra, etc., or anything like that.

They want them to land right at the gates to the actual Fortress component, which is at the base of the mountain, which is snowy with a decent amount of tree cover.

It would be less 'landing' more 'bursting out of the ground on an ethereal sandworm', but either way, that works.
