From the moment she made a challenge for one-on-one combat he lost all interest. As useful as a psychotic armed hunter might be, that simply wasn't the way he did business. "Well it's certainly looking less likely by the second," he responded to the merchant as he leaned against the side of the cart.

Fillangus Doddlehop, gathering his resolve strides forth. Stern ringer poised he prepares to give the girl an earful. Taking a breath he begins. "Didn't your mother ever tell you not to pick fights with the injured? For that matter throwing bladed implements is dangerous, as is banditry. Why if I didn't know better I would have thought you had a head of cotton and a mouth to dry from all these salty words that it can't even speak. I mean even if you did rob me what then? hat would you hope to do? Eat our smoked bear meat and hope nothing else finds you? Why I swear child, you have to find some direction in your life. Come on, is this really how you want to spend your life? Robbing poor beggars, and sulking when you come across a larger group? Going hungry at nights without a friend in sight?"

Looking up, and noticing the crowd down the road, pauses, then heads toward the crowd, assuming the shouting had come from there...

"This is what its about" answers Santiago who speaks without shifting his eyes from the defiant girl.

He moves up to her, morningstar ready and swings at her, trying to smack her in the back and not holding back, knowing he could stabilize and heal her of most of her wounds.

"And that was only 2 to 1." shaking his head he concentrates for only a moment, letting the familiar silver wave of draconic eldritch energy wash over everyone near him, including the girl.

As the girl goes down under his weapon, Simon collects her weaponry, including her dropped scythes, her bow, and her arrows, and deposits them on his mule, wondering how she will react when she wakes up.

He also collects some rope, and starts tying her up, figuring that the town might offer a bounty for a bandit.

However, as he does so, a thrown knife bounces off of his armor, and he immediately follows the toss to it's source, noting the man that had thrown the dagger.

"You might want to reconsider that. If a bandit attacks, one fights back. I assume that this town has been captured, however, which is probably unfortunate for those involved."

Simon charges the man, swinging his morningstar as he does so.

Josie merely watches as the inevitable occurs. He seems surprisingly disinterested in the misunderstanding. But then, his meager abilities are hardly needed to correct such attitudes. "What were we doing here again?" he asks his employer, "We're attracting more attention than I'm comfortable with."

"We're supposed to be trading our crafts, and some tools for some nice hides, supplies, and anything else that catches my eye..." Raising his voice to be heard over the clang of metal he calls to the newcommer. "Are you bandits? You don't seem vary bandit-ey..."

"Bandit? She was just in the inn, and left partway through the storyteller's odd tale. No sir, all I see here is a bunch of mercs picking on a poor little girl..." says Douglass, while drawing his longsword, dropping into a stance, and striking out at his assailant.

Seeing the stranger fall to the ground, Simon, again, strips him of weapons, drags him to near the other, collects her weapons as well, placing the weapons on his mule, and ties them up, before loading them on a mule as well.
