Outside Trog's

Demonic energy swirls around Ez'Bezel. As the bolts approach, he breaks into a sprint. He smashes the first bolt away with his shield, then slices through the second with his sword. The bolt explodes as he cuts it. He charges through the explosion, his entire body smoldering from the release of energy. But he isn't slowed by the pain or the damage. He'll have time to feel them later.

Instead he charges straight at Zeke, swinging his shield in a powerful bash aimed to disarm, and his sword close behind, aimed for a decapitating blow. The blade, however, will be turned so it hits with the blunt side instead of the edge, but it is packing enough power that it will still be a devastating blow if it lands.

Outside Trog's

Zeke blanches slightly as his Radiant Bolts are practically knocked aside, but then he grits his teeth and scowls. This demon had been holding back? So be it He would show the unholy demon that a knight of the Order of Illumination feared no dragon.

As Ez'Bezel draws near, the translucent golden shield that once appeared before Zeke returns. The paladin darts back from Ez'Bezel's more physical shield, and raises his sword to block the other. The two blades clash as they meet, the blow ringing into Zeke's very bones. Grim-faced, Zeke blasts another holy bolt at the demon's face and swings one-handed at his sword-arm.

Wuh oh. This is one of those times when Doctor Diabolical's most dastardly and deadly of devices comes into play. The dreaded Reality Assert-O-Tron! An awful machine that can selectively enforce physics! Thankfully such a device can't be used over a large area or for very long without burning out. But it CAN be pulsed to accompany the Death Ray eyes of the robots!

This may have a number of results, depending on whether or not the plasma blades are subsumed by the RAOT. Probably the most devastating would be causing the plasma blades to suddenly begin acting exactly like a shaft of white hot plasma would. Namely, super heating the air around them in a large area and possibly setting Shawna on fire.

Though more likely the plasma will just divert the artificial lightning of the robot's electrolaser and send it coursing through her body rather than carbonizing her torso. Though the laser won't be bothered much. A face full of laser is never fun.

Meanwhile!

And thus the doll's shield is kicked! Though thanks to the RAOT the result of the kick might be a bit unexpected. It might break the shield, to transfer the force through to the doll, or launch both doll and shield like a football, or it might respond exactly like the doll was expecting!

If the shield does still explode the robot's leg get shredded up something nasty. If the shield doesn't explode then... well... the robot's leg is still looking fine!

Either way the menacing machine will follow up with a stun beam! PEW PEW!

Ah. Fascinating.

The robot targeting the Vyrn statue may suddenly find itself interrupted. This time theatrics are abandoned in favor of a hail of gunfire from within the smoke.

That statue definitely doesn't have that.

The hail of gunfire is...well. In a fit of laziness I will link this post because it's the same magitech abomination gun from there, on the same setting. For a more concise but somewhat more referential description, you could say it is effectively similar to a human-scaled 40K bolter in power in this mode, only, you know, using magitech shenanigans and magnetic propulsion instead of mini rockets.

The robot will likely notice that that attack is not coming from exactly where the statue is in there. Bit off to the side of it, in the smoke.

How odd.

Krystal's assumption that the robots can't reach behind their back seemed to have been correct. Which is good. Makes some things easier.

Then the robot decides to squish her. Not good.

By that point in time, Krystal would have made it close to the robot's neck, so when it throws itself back, she quickly climbs around to the front of its neck, to avoid the crushing. Sure, she'd probably heal from such a thing, but boy would it hurt.

Having avoided being squished, Krystal uses her weaponized knuckles to start tearing into the robot's neck, hoping to break something important.

Thankfully the electromagnetic field generators containing the plasma are unaffected by the ASSERT-O-TRON! However the blast does manage to electrify the techno-paladin, even as she backflips to the ground, her uniform pretty much burnt to a crisp!

This results in a free show for those involved in the fight. Hopefully her BOYFRIEND won't be too jealous. However the scorch marks on her torso quickly fade as the NANITES that she is enhanced with kick into self-repairing mode!

...and she pulls a LASER PISTOL off the remains of her belt. Aims at the ANNOYING DOOMBOT. And fires.

Okay.

These robots are designed to be reasonably durable, but a hail of armor piercing high explosive bullets is really a lot more than it can handle. With a sound of rending metal most of the machine's torso gets ripped open and its Atom Engine is torn asunder. It collapses to the ground and begins leaking radiation everywhere.

Oddly enough the radiation isn't particularly lethal. Though there's a slim chance that too much exposure might give someone super powers. Or turn them into a monster. You know, the sorts of things radiation typically did to people in old comic books.

That's one robot down!

Two more robots nearby calculate the path those bolter rounds took and turn to begin blasting whatever might be in that general area. Pew pew! The shots are blind, but waving death rays around in the smoke is bound to clip something eventually.

Meanwhile!

Krystal can't rip into the robot's neck! It's head is protected inside one of those glass bell-jar things that robot's heads are always inside of for some reason.

Though she can smash through the protective casing. Which she totally does. Without the sealed environment protecting the robot's sensitive processors the robot begins to spaz out rather hilariously. After flailing about for a few seconds it slumps down against the furniture shop and stops moving.

Shawna is pretty fortunate that she didn't get completely fried! Getting burned to death isn't a very nice way to go.

The robot doesn't try to avoid the laser fire and gets several nasty holes melted in its armor as a result. It's still up and running though! And returning fire with its death rays, too! Now that Shawna knows that blocking them is probably a bad idea...

Kirin will note down the address. It's a bit from where they are right now.

And off they go. They might have to take the Riftline this time so they're not walking overly far. They probably chitchat on the way, but unless there's a particular topic they discuss in more depth, they can arrive there.

[Abrajin's Pandimensional And Possibly Infinite Library]

Near the middle of Town there is a nice little building. It's made of brick and wood, has a small yard around it, and a small plaque next to the shiny black wooden door. Looks like a small, rentable office space, almost.
The plaque reads:

If one went inside they'd see a large entry room. A small desk is straight ahead, with a suit of armor behind it, and possibly Abrajin. There is are also no less than ten crystal balls that are seemingly fused to the desk, which is similarly fused to the floor. To the right there are a ton of tables and very cushiony seats of assorted variety. To the left, there is what appears to be a long conveyor belt with a protective rim around it, and a slot to put books in. It is, of course, run by magic.
There is a very, very large doorway that leads to the main library. It has a list of rules on it, which currently read as follows:

-Only those with certified Library Cards may enter.
-Be quiet within the library, monsters may be sleeping.
-We are not liable for any injuries that may result from your presence in the library.
-We are not liable for any injuries resulting from the existence of the library.
-The use of divination spells in the library is discouraged due to the fact that they may drive the user insane.
-Fire magic and lightning magics are prohibited.
-Respect the other users of the library unless they try to injure you.
-Please report the existence of fire, black holes, temporal and planar vortexes, and any other generally book damaging occurrences to the librarian or guard.
-Put any books taken from the shelves into the re-shelving system.
-Do as the guard or librarian says, or you will be smote.
-Have a nice day.

Upon getting a card from the librarian and heading through the doors, one will find themselves in a random part of the library, which is so massive and infinite that there is really no way to describe how each room will appear until one enters it. Getting out is fairly easy- every room has a door or exit to the place you came in (which may or may not be Town). One thing is certain, however- there are tons of books, and many, many strange and random things within.

Of course, that requires getting a library card in the first place which can occasionally be... frustrating.

As the robot flails about, Krystal hangs on rightly. The last thing she needed was to be randomly thrown off. It would probably hurt a lot.

Once it starts falling, Krystal gets her feet under her, times the jump, and leaps off, rolling as soon as she hits the ground. She gets some scrapes and bruises, but her healing factor will take care of those

She pushes herself up and turns to admire her handywork, a smug look on her face. Then she'll look for the next closest victim. I mean robot.

The Ansuli Doll is knocked back a few feet, but detonates the shield in time to mess up the robot's leg. As soon as it catches it's balance it conjures two daggers and magically and flings them at bullet-speed toward the robot. The first is directed to collide with the beam, presumably to reflect it in a different direction or something like that, while the second flies straight toward the robot's center of mass. Silly Doll, when do robots ever keep important stuff not in their heads?

These robots keep their Atom Engine in their chests. They tend to stop working when their power source is destroyed.

Anywho! A dagger is hurled right at the beam! The dagger does absolutely nothing to stop the air-ionizing laser blast or the artificial bolt of lightning that follows it. Sorry.

The second dagger is more effective, plunging through the machine's armor and breaching the core of its Atom Engine. Shafts of brilliant green light begin bleeding through cracks in the robot's armor shortly before it explodes in a bright emerald shock-wave of radiation.

Three robots down!

Meanwhile!

This time around TWO robots break away from their statue stealing and open fire on Krystal with TWO sets of stun rays! Pew pew pew pew! Seems the robots keep upping the ante every time one of them is destroyed.

Validating The Ansuli Dolls crazy ideas on how to fight robots? Perhaps this mad scientist will have a detrimental impact on the world after all. In any case, since it was not prepared for the robot to use an attack it couldn't deflect, The Ansuli Doll fails to react in time to avoid the stun ray and falls over, stunned. It won't last long though. The magic animating The Ansuli Doll is already setting to work on reversing the stun.

And so our merry party of heroes gathers before the entrance to the squiddy-faced menace's ship.

"Okay, I should probably give you fair warning. Their leader is kind of a super grumpy-butt. I'm already three-hundred percent sure there's a trap right on the other side of this door.
Soooo, you go first!"

It's probably vaguely important to note that this isn't a huge ship.
Or even a particularly not-small one.

To be blunt, it's kind of puny, which is probably the reason the train is still moving at all.

Upon the door's opening, what is obviously the ship's primary room is revealed:
Large rubber tubes spread across the ceilings and walls, weaving around and through great tanks of viscous green fluids, leading off into parts unknown within the walls of the ship.

Strange, child-height creatures slither around the floor like slugs, if such things had vaguely humanoid upper bodies. It's a crude mesh of machinery and flesh, terminating in a head-like portion containing little more than two beady eyes and a tube that constantly leaks a green fluid similar to the ones in the tanks. Two machinery limbs protrude from somewhere below the face, used for periodically tapping buttons on tanks as they pass, or adjusting the tubing on the walls.

They don't seem to register the presence of the interlopers at all.
One even passes just near the door, without even the slightest hint of recognition.


Not to say they're entirely ignored.
There's that entity in the middle, surrounded by a circular display console constantly flashing holographic imagery above numerous buttons and flat-screen depictions of...something. Some of it looks like planets, some creatures, some simply arrays of numbers.

The entity itself appears to be a very tall illithid, wrapped in enough black cloth ribbons to be mistaken for an overly animate mummy.
Four tentacles twitch irritatedly beneath its face as it stares at the intruders, while two others tap away at buttons on the consoles below, several feet longer than their shorter counterparts.

Meet the captain of the ship, a very temperamental ulitharid.

Magtok's chrome takes a tiny fist to the face!
There's an equally tiny yelp of pain!

And then a swift kick of further tiny feet towards his throat.
"Take that you jerk!"

Seems there's some sort of...tiny, wingless faerie trying to kick his butt?
They look exactly like a human man, no green or anything. Just...tiny.

"...that's kind of cute."

Down below, as the vault begins to rise, a few concerns are being raised amongst the defenders.
They most revolve around 'wow, they're taking the whole thing?', 'I didn't study for this', 'anyone have a jetpack?', and 'eh...the boss will handle it'.

A couple individuals run back the way they came, running...somewhere.
One person begins drifting up after the vault a ways, before thinking for a second and stopping.
"...yeah. Guess so. We're only paid to nab the people inside anyway."
"We're not paid at all!"
"Then why aren't you going after them?"
"Heck, I don't save money here."
"...they why are you here at all?"
"Seemed like a fun place?"
"Get out!"
"Anyone seen Red?"
"Wasn't that Magtok?"
"Maybe this was just a publicity stunt."
"It was definitely a publicity stunt."
"Didn't we get insurance against those?"
"Have to file a claim over with those policing fellows."

Kirin walks in, looks around, and is rather surprised. "Wow... this looks a lot better." She stops and reads the rules... "What... crud. Are there no normal libraries in this town?"

Dawn... lets out a very undignified squeal, recoiling back in shock and disgust from the mutant slug things. "EEEEEEEEWWW WHAT THE **** IS THAT?!" she screams, waving a hoof at the nearest one while looking away in abject squick. Normally the little pegasus doesn't swear that badly, from what Geneva knows of her. She must be really freaked out!

And no, she doesn't notice the doom-squid.

Of course two attack now. That just makes sense.

Krystal moves, darting around them to make herself a hard target. Now that she knows that breaking open the domes will down them, she doesn't have to climb them anymore. She just has to break the glass.

As she runs, she produces crystals from her knuckles and throws them with practiced motions, aiming for the glass domes. Of course, running and throwing isn't as easy as standing and throwing, so her aim will probably suffer to some extent.

When she awakes, she'll be in the recovery room again. She's alone this time.

She'll also feel odd... like her body isn't quite the same. Quite so rigid as it was.

She doesn't look any different... but she'll find that she can shapeshift if she wants to. It seems that the procedure was successful. She can completely alter herself down through the bone structure if she wants to.

An interesting effect will have happened in the interim. her body in general seems to lose any sort of color, fading to a whitish gray, completely colorless. her eyes will also turn pure white, with only the hint of an actual iris and pupil being there. Her body also loses some definition, her features looking almost unfinished.

The transformation into a changeling worked perfectly. She shakily stands onto her feet, feeling odd all over. What all is in the room?

Red Zone - Street

Kilt does leave, and continues on her way. She's somewhat confused now, and still grumpy since she lost her teeth. She'll just go along the way that she had first thought of, not taking any shortcuts through parks or gardens or whatever...

Kilt may suddenly find a sharp pain in her neck as a dart. It's entirely possible it's poisoned somehow. If she looks to the source of the shot, there's a small man hiding in the bushes. The dart itself is designed well to fly through the air and puncture human skin.

Not much... uh, a sitting chair or two. a side-table with a clock. No windows. A fake potted plant, because they couldn't find anything to fill the space with.

Nothing's stopping her from just getting up. She's even No sign of any employees so soon, either.

And this time, her clothes are on the side-table.

"Oh... NOPE." Kilt spins around, reving up her... disc. Well, at least it still sounds scary. "I'm don't know who you are and I don't care but I will appreciate this catharsis!"

Kilt will suddenly see a force field bubble sprout up around the little man in the bushes as he writes something onto a pad of paper, "enhanced aggression, initial resistance... let's see if the drug works as intended..."

Here's the thing. with the Excelsior churning through her system, normally it makes her an unreasonably tough badass. in this case though, the compound in the needle is specifically designed to work with it., turning the chemical composition into a tranquilizer of a sort, though with a slight narcotic side-effect, effectively neutralizing the strengthening part of it.

The man in the bush doesn't even appear concerned.

Kilt will bang her disc against the bubble. "Gah! I hate bubblers! At least with rezzers the heroes spend some time on the grou-woah." Kilt shakes her head. Must be a sleep dart. She activates her excelsior injector for an extra boost!

"Well the normal ones are considerably less interesting beyond the contents of the books. I'm sure the sign isn't entirely serious, though." Zavier looks toward the desk. "Let's see if we can get one of those cards."

"Could you help us? We'd like to look something up in the library, and it seems we need a card?" He says to Abrajin or whoever it is that might be behind the desk as he steps toward it.

There are two people in the lobby. Which is spoken with matters quite a bit.

The first is a suit of armor behind one of the counters with the number 56 on it in several places. It is standing there completely motionless.

The other is a aged old man in a gray robe with a scraggly beard sitting on an overstuffed chair next to the fireplace. He's reading a book titled Absurdly Advanced Applications of Spell Seeds and hasn't acknowledged the people who just walked in.

And no.

There are no normal libraries in this City.

Where would the fun be in that?

Anywho! We'll assume for now that the armor is who is being spoken to. "Yes, you may. However-"

"Eh! What do those kids want?" the old man in the chair wheezes, peering over his book at the pair with watery, tired eyes.

"They want library cards."

"Then they can fill out the forms and get one!" the old man snaps before muttering something that sounds like Abrajin's Paperwork Summoning.

Two large stacks of forms poof out of nowhere and land in front of our heroes. Both are rather daunting to behold.

[Hodgepodge Street - Ruler's Plaza]

The robots seem to be wise to Krystal's tactics now and raise their arms to block the attack! This gets them some forearms full of crystals, but they aren't disabled either. When one of them gets close it hauls back to punt the mutant or whatever her power source might be.

Meanwhile!

The doll is down! The robots that are still working ignore her completely. It seems they only react to people who try to stop them from stealing the statues.

[Riftline Ruckus]

Geneva frowns at the... gross... slug person things. Her mind instantly returns to visions of that MoAS bunker and the nightmares that were lurking inside. But at least these ones aren't attacking.

Yet.

Sunder moves to the front of the group.

"Okay squidface, you know the drill. Release your prisoners and we let you go. Resist and we beat your skull in," Sunder crows full of bluster and moxie. "And just sayin' but I'm hopin' you decide to resist. You squidfaces make a real satisfying squish when I smash you."

Wow.

Sunder is actually trying diplomacy? In... a very loose sense of the word diplomacy.

Shawna does indeed know that blocking the DOOMBOT's DEATH RAYS is a bad idea, and so she rolls (very athletically!) behind a CONVENIENT PEDESTAL, while wishing she still had her handy combat drone.

And produces a SMALL CYLINDER from...well, let's hope it came from what's left of the pouch on her ruined belt.

Twists the knob on one end.

The creepy slimy slug things get ignored by the assassin, as she focuses on the biggest (literally and figuratively) threat in the room!

And even as Sunder steps up to diplomance, she's already carrying out her own course of action.

The four Explosive Bolts she has loaded, each aimed at a slightly different part of the ulitharid's upper body and head.

Not bolter rounds, but pretty much similar in power. Granted that's only roughly half as brutal as the full-sized space marine ones I'm going off of, there.

There is a distinct lack of any sound indicating whatever that was (not that anyone doesn't know what it was) got hit.

The smoke, lacking anything to contain it, dissipates a bit. There does not seem to be anything there now. Besides that statue there. Definitely nothing with a crazy magitech gauss gun that hits like a bolter.

Weird. But that guy's intangibility shenanigans aren't unheard of by any means, so Doctor Diabolical might be aware of that. Provided he's been paying attention to local politics at all, which I imagine he has considering he's stealing statues of these people.

The fact that it apparently drew his attention probably speaks volumes about his ego. He doesn't show up again this round though. Yet.

He's probably planning some other theatrical stunt. Man must think he's Emperor Batman or something. Only, you know, with guns. And powers.

He will be brought to an Irregular interrogation room, where what appears to be an elf woman with short brown hair wearing an Irregular uniform with a fancy commissarish hat sits at the other side of the table from him. (She gets a description at all? She must be important.)

Nick's version is that he and Alysha had been talking when Red dropped into the Nexus. They'd attempted to help him find a safe spot for his mech, which is when they learned he's among the worst drivers ever, the kind that take "shortcuts" when they're not in something that can fly. Nick, however, had no idea how the machine worked and more importantly was locked in the cockpit with its sword-wielding pilot, so he decided that trying to do anything would probably end in disaster any way it happened, and thus let the kid do his thing.
And sometime between the interrogation and being released he'll try to do his best to tactfully ask about their recruitment procedures. You know, since he's jobless but has nearly ten years of military experience?

"Uhhh, surely we don't need to fill out all of these... Right?" Xavier looks hopefully toward the cranky old man. It'd take forever to do that, and his hand would probably cramp up too!

The questions start off reasonable enough, things like name and age and race. But from there they grow increasingly absurd. Like how long your toenails are, what your favorite shade of blue is, and how many teeth you have (per head, per mouth).

Really. How many people know what their weight on Mercury is?

"Of course you do!" Abrajin wheezes. "Kids these days, think they should get everything right now."

The old man grumbles some more and returns to reading his book.

It'll probably take about an hour to fill our all the forms. Less time if they just fill in random nonsense.
