Fear and Loathing in the Greenbelt (IC Thread III)

Maple and Alistar can reconstruct the whole sad tale... Judging by the marks on the stalls, and a few places where they were broken, the horses attempted to escape the stalls after they ran out of food. A few did, but then didn't have the strength left to break down the main door.

Then they starved to death and died. Every last one of them.

Maple

"This is unpleasant. Caster Roquan, you were spinning around the idea of using a scroll on the dead man in the inn. So long as it is not some necromancy, I approve of any actions you can do in order to find out what happened in this town."

Maple was not shaken by the realization of what happened (that doesn't really happen to her anymore), so instead she seems to be angry. While she hides it with a determined expression, it is obvious to her allies that she is quite upset about this event.

Roqoan

"Starvation. How long does it even take for a horse to starve, a month? Or maybe longer?
Whatever the time on this is, i think it's safe to say that the town has been abandoned for quite some time. And probably very sudden since they didn't even have time to release the horses into the wild, let alone take them along.
Alright, let's sum all of this up: the people here have been gone for several weeks and left the town without leaving obvious signs of violence or disease. They left fast. That leaves us with just about no information on what happened here.

And yes Maple, i was toying around with the idea of using that tablet with the reincarnation spell on it to try and revive that dead guy in the inn. It's not necromancy, just a form of resurrection. He will probably return in a body of a different race. Sadly it will only work if he's been dead for a week or less.
We could go check out his body to see for how long he's been dead and then decide on what to do."

"Unless they had a way to get water, it would probably have been dehydration first, most likely. He shakes his head.

"This doesn't make much sense though, why wouldn't they take the horses? If they were attacked and had to flee, there'd be some sign of it. But there really isn't. If this was an organized move, they would take them. Horses are valuable and useful, why would they leave them behind?"

"I dunno if raising the thing in the inn is a good idea, but I honestly don't have much in the way of a better one. Well, except lookin' into those centaurs, the...what, Nomen? I doubt someone took the time to scratch that into the door and they aren't somehow involved.

"Raiders would have taken the horses as loot and you wouldn't leave them if you were fleeing...I have no idea. We know they had trouble with the centaurs, so that may be our best option. If we can find them, I don't know that we have an exact location."

[Steckie]

Roqoan

"We might get that information from the dead guy, if he hasn't been dead for longer than a week. If he has, we're probably going to have to do some research in the books we found on his body. Alistar, can you come with me? You might be able to smell how long he's been dead already."
Roqoan heads over to the inn and takes a thorough look at the body of the guy with the books.

[Lost Demiurge]

The guy with the books remains a very surprised looking spriggan. Something caved his head in, after he snatched open a book and opened it, triggering the trap upon it.

Roqoan

"Huh. He looks a lot more surprised than i realised. And if was with those other spriggans he might not know much more than they did. Maybe bringing him back to life is going to be a bit useless. We still need more information though.
What's the next building you guys want to search?"

"May as well be systematic. Clockwise until we get them all."

Maple

"How about the Well then? I mean, we fought a lobster thingy on the way here, so maybe there are some clues at other watery locations?"

[Sithis]

Alistar

"I'm with Johan, check everything. Maybe we'll find something useful."

[Lost Demiurge]

The well, upon examination, is quite fouled. There looks to be a dead Spriggan in it.

Johan keeps going around the settlement until either finding something or running out of buildings.
