Los Angeles: The Door Is Locked

[Toxic Avenger]

Tony sets the pot and pan on the range, and then he heads for the fridge. "Eggs and chili for sure...maybe something else, too. Hmm... How about biscuits and gravy? Or maybe French toast?"

[Dhavaer]

"French toast, eggs and chilli?" Rocío takes the milk from the fridge.

[Toxic Avenger]

"Yep, I think that should do it. You want the toast, eggs and chili, or both, Ros?" Tony takes a carton of eggs out of the fridge.

[Dhavaer]

"Toast and eggs without chilli, thanks."

[Toxic Avenger]

"Alrighty then. Consider it done." Tony finishes gathering everything else that he needs, and then he gets going with the cooking.

[Dhavaer]

Brad has to go before he can take more than a few bites but Tala, once she wakes up, is sufficiently grateful that Ros decides to have her breakfast in the sitting room. After she leaves for work, Tala watches the taped reports on the zoo. When the camera moves away from Lily to pan over the blast site, she pauses it.
"I think the bomb was in the building. Look how the debris is so evenly scattered."

The phone rings.

Tony stares at the paused video for a moment, noting the evenly scattered debris. "Hmm... Yeah, and the building's right at the center of it, too. Smells like an inside job, doesn't it?" Tony looks toward the ringing phone, then he gets off the couch and starts walking toward it. "I suppose I should go see who that is..." He takes a look at the caller ID display.

[Dhavaer]

The number calling isn't familiar to Tony.

[Toxic Avenger]

"Hmm...don't know that one." Tony picks up the phone and speaks into the receiver. "Hello?"

[Dhavaer]

"Tony Travis? It's Eddy." Tony now knows what it means to hear a conspiratorial grin. "I hear you and your friends have been doing a bit of, uh, amateur animal wrangling. Been in the news, and all. I've got a few things, and seen a few things, and heard a few things, that you might find useful. Assuming it's a hobby you're still interested in, o' course."

Tony considers his answer for a brief moment before saying, "Yeah, I might be interested, Eddy. That all depends, though."

[Dhavaer]

"Of course it does. What say we talk about it? There's a Denny's near you; corner of Thomson and Rose. Be there in an hour?"

[Toxic Avenger]

Tony glances at the clock just before he replies. "Sure, I think I can fit that in. I'll see you then, Eddy."

[Dhavaer]

"I'll be seeing you, then."

After Tony puts down the phone, Tala turns to look at him.

"Eggy Eddy?"

[Toxic Avenger]

Tony heads back for the couch and sits back down. "Yeah, I think so. I've never talked to him before, but I'm pretty sure it's him. He wants to meet at the Denny's on Thomson and Rose in about an hour. You want to go too, chérie?"

[Dhavaer]

"Sure. I'll just get dressed." Tala hurries back up the stairs.

[Toxic Avenger]

"Already? We have plenty of time yet." Tony calls after Tala as she hurries off, and then he glances at his own attire - or the relative lack thereof - for a brief moment as he thinks. Er...yeah. I suppose I'd better change, too.

Tony gets up from the couch and heads up the stairs as well, ready to get into something more suitable for the upcoming meeting.

The Denny's is pretty close to empty; when Tony and Tala walk in there is only the staff, Eddy sitting at the far end of the resturaunt, two orcs sitting closer to the door and a pile of rags in a corner booth, presumably occupied by a person of some description. Eddy looks up as they enter and beckons them over. The orcs and rags pay no attention.

After a quick glance at the surroundings, Tony leads the way over to Eddy's table.

Eddy nods to them as they approach.
"Straight to business?"

[Toxic Avenger]

Tony smiles and nods back to Eddy as he makes himself comfortable. "Only if you prefer; we're not in a hurry or anything." He glances at Tala for a moment, hoping to confirm this assumption.

[Dhavaer]

Tala nods vaguely as she glances around, catching a waitress's eye. Eddy stays quiet as Tala (and Tony, if he wants anything), order their food, speaking up when the waitress leaves.

"Okay. We've got a truck that wasn't going where it was meant to be going, and not carrying what it was meant to be carrying. We've got four dead bears and two undead cops. And if you guys are looking to find out what's going on about it all, I might have something that'll be of use to you."

[Toxic Avenger]

Tony raises an eyebrow upon the mention of undead cops. So that's what was odd about those two... When Eddy is finished, he replies, "Sure, we'd like to know more, as long as it won't break the bank."

[Dhavaer]

"Hey, information is free, as long as there's reciprocation on that point. What's not free is this little doodad." Eddy reaches into his coat and pulls out what appears to be a small, grey marble. "Y'see, the driver of that truck is still in the morgue. I can get you two in there and you can use this to have a chat with him; find out where he was going." Eddy returns the marble to his coat, and stays queit for a while as the waitress brings the food.
"Sound good to you guys?"

Tony nods at the mention of reciprocation, and he listens to the rest of Eddy's talk with obvious interest. "Sounds like fun to me." he replies, and he glances over at Tala with a slight grin on his face.

[Dhavaer]

"Great. So, to start with, do you know anything about the fireworks up at the zoo this morning?"

[Toxic Avenger]

"Hmm... Just what we could find out from watching the news."

Uh...did I just say that sneaking into a morgue would be fun? What the hell's happening to me...?

[Dhavaer]

"Huh. Anything about the bears themselves?"

[Toxic Avenger]

"No, they weren't mentioned at all."

[Dhavaer]

Eddy nods. "Yeah, I saw it too. I meant did you notice anything before they got taken to the zoo."
