Jepthath, not wanting to lose there momentum, bashes the Goblin Commando with his mace. Not willing to miss out on the excitment, Leoneiros moves forward and jabs the Goblin Commando with his spear. Ark sidesteps to avoid his comrades and lets an Acid Bolt fly at Goblin(2), however the Goblin ducks the bolt. Steven moves swiftly into command and decapitates Goblin(1). Goblin(2) and Goblin(3) moves forward to attack the man who stuck down his commander's steed, Leoneiros, but they never managed to make it through his armor. Goblin(4) moved to attack Jephath, but he just dodged out of the way. Goblin(5) attacks the shiney paladin who attacked earlier, but missed. Goblin(6) strikes true and manages to pierce the armor of Branden (4hp). The Commando tries to get up from his fallen dog, only to be struck again by Jephath and stabbed to death by Leoneiros. Driven by the blow he has taken, Branden shouts and flourishes his blade in a Dazzling Display of skill and finesse. His display schocks all of the Goblins. Noticing the shaken state of the battlefield, Hopton sees his chance to come out of hiding and stab the spleen of the closest Goblin(6).

Jephath, seeing Branden take damage moves to assist. While he managed to hop over the blade of the first Goblin, the second's dog slicer bit into his ankle (-1hp). Upon arrival, his words and touch cause divine magic to heal Branden (+3hp). Leoneiros tries his luck with the Goblins around him, though it seems his luck isn't with the Goblin dodges his attack. Ark, seeing their leader fall, moves into position in case the Goblins attempt to run. Steven steps up to the next Goblin and swings and misses with his scimitar. Goblin(2) gets a lucky shot on Steven's arm, only to see it cause no damage. Goblin(3) smiles at the opening he sees with Leoneiros and makes his attack. His faith was misplaced as Leoneiros easily avoids his attack. Goblin(4) takes another swing at Jephath, though now that he is standing still, he finds him a much more elusive target. Goblin(5) and Goblin(6) both take turns attempting to hit their flourishing prey, to no avail. Branden attempts to attack Goblin(6) but shaken as he is, is still able to dodge. Hopton attempts to keep Goblin(6) on his heels and trying to roll around him. The goblin sees this coming however and attacks him in mid movement (-2hp). Arriving into his new position, though not as cleanly as he had hopped, resumes his planned attack. Placing his dagger just beneath his ribs and riding it up, he kills Goblin(6).

Jephath, not one to take getting hit lightly, comes back around with his mace and lands squarely on the head of the Goblin, crushing it. Leoneiros raises his spear for another attack, only to find air with his thrust. Ark moves into a better position to attempt to assist in combat, though his shot is once again high. Steven seizes an opening and moves in to kill Goblin(2) with one swift blow. Goblin(3) slips in past Leoneiros's defenses and delivers a blow to the leg (-4hp). Goblin(5) screams as he jabs his dogslicer in between Branden armor(-1hp). Branden pushes through the pain and brings his scimitar down on Goblin(5), ending his life. Seeing a completely distracted goblin was too much to pass up, Hopton cartwheels behind Goblin(3) {cause I was not about to waste that Acrobatics Check} and slits the throat of the final Goblin. As the blood sprays out of the goblin, Hopton feels a glee that quickly fades as the goblin falls to reveal a blood sprayed Leoneiros.

After the Goblins have fallen, the man behind the barrel peaks out. "Are they gone?" he croaks out. Seeing no immediate danger remaining, the man stands and straightens his jacket. He swiftly approaches and grabs Steven by the arm. "Thank you so much, good man. My name is Aldern Foxglove. I am sure you have heard of me. Oh, of course not, an amazing adventurer like yourself couldn't possibly be bothered to know a Magnamarrian socialite such as myself. I can't express how deeply thankful I am that you saved my life."

Branden finishes sheathing his blade as he turns to address Aldern.

While I wouldn't presume to speak for my newfound comrades-in-arms, for my part, it is my pleasure to be of service. Although I am unfamiliar with the social circles in Magnimar, having only recently received my commission as a paladin of Sarenrae, I am honored to make your acquaintance.

    Branden bows briefly before continuing:

Goodman Foxglove, did you see from whence the vermin came? It is becoming apparent that these attacks may not be random mayhem, as goblins are wont to cause, but perhaps of more serious concern.

With a sheepish grin, Hopton shrugs whimsically at Leoneiros. Them jugulars. Messy, I know. Maybe next time stand juuuust a hair to the left. With a wink, he wipes his blade on the sleeve of a dead goblin, and steps closer to Branden, eager to hear the man's reply.

"I can't help you clean up much, but I can make those wounds close. One moment," Jephath says, walking up to Leoneiros. With a brief invocation he heals the elf's wounds before cocking his head and thinking a moment. "Let me try another spell too..." A bit less confident looking, he gestures and mumbles some more.

Cast Cure Light Wounds for (1d8+1)[3] points of healing and then try Mage Hand to see if that can help him clean off. If it doesn't, I imagine my curse should make things worse somehow...

After doing his best to help the warrior clean up, Jephath looks around for any injured civilians or signs of goblins still trying to make trouble. If none of either group present themselves, he addresses the gathered combatants, "Gentlemen, I have no official authority here, but as the only native of Sandpoint in our little group I must thank you all deeply. If it hadn't been for you all here, this would have been much, much worse... I am going to return to the cathedral and help with the injured there. You are all welcome to join me. I am quite sure the other townsfolk will wish to show their gratitude to you all as well." Turning to Mr. Foxglove, he continues, "And you sir, should come with us. If this attack isn't over you will be safer there. If that is, there will be more people there to attend to your wounds."

"Oh, I am quite alright. Just a little banged up. I will manage. Though replacing d'Artagnan won't be easy. He was my prize hunting dog." Aldern sighs for a moment, "But nevertheless I must repay you all. Please come see me at the Rusty Dragon Inn. I will be staying there for a few more days and would greatly appreciate a chance to show my gratitude."

As you walk back through town, you observe the town guardsmen as they patrol the streets, putting out fires and ensuring there are no more goblins around. The townsfolk start to recognize you as you walk toward the town square. They stop to thank you and show their appreciation for your help. After showing their gratitude, they proceed back to their homes. The festivities have been more than enough for the citizens of Sandpoint.

"Quite the impression you all have made on these people," says Father Zantus as he shows some families out of the cathedral. "It was a good thing you all did. We lost some good people, but it could have been a lot worse. We were all so excited about the festival that we let our guard down. This has truly became a sad day." As if the sky was listening, clouds rolled across the sky.

Ark runs up to his brother and begins to speak in an excited voice:

DID YOU SEE THAT? I was like 'EAT COLOR SPRAY'! and then you were like 'SPEAR TO THE FACE!' and then I was like 'WALL o'STONE'! Except it really wasn't a wall of stone, it was an illusion! Then you were surrounded by those goblins and was like 'Bring it! I am not scared of you!' That was so exciting! Now I see why you love this. That was incredible!

It is then that Ark realizes that his brother is covered in goblin blood. He gives a concerned look and then laughs.

You look like you need a bath! But at least you look better than those goblins.

Leoneiros stares intensely at Hopton's retreating back as blood drips down his nose and ears, not saying a word. He continues to grind his teeth and say nothing as Jephath cures his leg wound and tries to remove some of the blood, only to have the downed goblin suddenly erupt in a fountain of gore that narrowly misses Jephath and instead falls all over Leoneiros. His hands clench into fists when Ark starts talking and he glares at him around a piece of goblin entrails dangling in his face. Still saying nothing, he walks over to retrieve his spear from the goblin dog only to find it somehow stuck. After two failed attempts to tug it free, he gives up and begins to drag the spear, goblin dog and all, back to the inn. His big toe pokes out from where Ark's acid bolt ate away a piece of his boot.

"It could have been worse, Father," Jephath says to the priest. "The festivities may be over, but perhaps the rain will help prevent any re-flashes from the goblin fires. And the cathedral is still in one piece, right? We will just have to rebuild what we have to rebuild and look forward to next year...right?"

Suddenly Jephath's stomach growls ferociously, loud enough to be heard by anyone nearby. "Whoa...I have never been in real, life-or-death combat before. Does it always make a person this hungry?" he says to his newfound comrades. Looking around he realizes that all the food vendor carts are either ruined, burned up, or have left the square in front of the cathedral. "I know we were just eating only a little while ago, but I think I am going to go to the Rusty Dragon and see if Mr. Foxglove might spot me for a meal. He seemed intent on us going to visit him there. Who else wants to come?"
