St Ambrose School for the Extraordinary: Settling In

Platformer: This guy had a book.
Platformer: No idea what he wanted it for. He say anything to you, Rick?
Platformer: Mmm...meet up back in the lobby?

Kevin hefted the unconscious telekinetic over his shoulder, starting back for the main room.

[Obscurejones]

Gremlin: "Dude, basically ignored me. I don't think he really thought of me as a person type thing. More a weird piece of furniture that was following him. Or a piece of performance art."

Rick takes a small glance about to see if anything else near to hand look valuable.

[Dodgeson]

The lobby is more or less as Platformer left it before he went charging off in aid of his teammates, Knave is still face down on the floor with the remnants of his shattered mask, though worryingly his doppelganger is nowhere to be seen!

Plenty of things of value surround our ne'er-do-well though none of them small enough for him to indulge his larcenous urges.

Once Kevin reached the lobby, he set the telekinetic down by his fallen friends, turned off the chat and started flipping through the book, basically turning a page, pausing, reading it, unpausing, turning the page, etc, rapidly reading through the book. He'd turn the chat back on once he had finished.

Megan looked at Meta with wide eyes. The half-dragon never was that talkative, and she didn't knew much of him... besides that he could always be relied upon when it was needed to punch someone out, but now he claimed the closest thing he had to a family was an Egyptian god? Megan decided not to press the matter... for now.
"It was over before I even got there", she said, joining Kevin back at the lobby, "So.. is this what they were after? A book? Surely doesn't seem to be an ordinary theft... so, what's in there?" she asked, not even bothering to look into the book herself - even assuming it's written in English, which was far from a given, Kevin would deal with it much faster anyway. "Wait... where's the other one? You know, your... dark twin?"

On reaching the lobby, Meta drops the unconscious Harriet off by the others.

[Dodgeson]

The book is written in perfectly understandable English. it's a record of all the purchases & sales the museum has made and from/to whom.

"Just a bunch of records," he said with a shrug, closing the book. "Eh? It's right over-" Kevin halted, blinking, when he noticed the mimic was missing. "...Um?"

So we've lost one...

Meta shrugs.

Still. We've still got three, and a potential lead on where they came from.

"This could be good, actually!" Kevin realized. "Maybe. I mean, obviously we'll have to fight him...her...it? Whatever. It. Again in a dozen levels or so. But the real question is, will it come back for a third round? The serious recurring villains are almost always somehow in league with the final boss. If Glitchy makes a third appearance, their relationship will probably be cemented by then, so if we capture it then we can probably get lots of useful end-game information. But fair warning though, if it winds up being as annoying as that Pokey kid, one of you may have to hold me back. Ugh, or Seymore. That would be the worst..."

[Dodgeson]

As Kevin ponders their current situation the police officer that greeted them out on the steps earlier makes his presence known by the museum's entrance.

"Great job kids, we'll take it from here."

Assuming no objections from our heroes the officer steps aside allowing a group of his colleagues in SWAT gear to get to work restraining the unconscious villains.

Think we should go see how the others are doing?

Kevin nodded, "Yeah, I'm ready to go if you guys are. Err...actually, one sec." He walked over to the officer. "They were apparently after this," he said, handing him the book. "No idea why, though." Then he went back to the others. "Okay, yeah, now ready if you guys are."

[jamieth]

"I guess we are", Megan nods, then adds, "And speaking of Seymour - don't worry, I'm not going to give him a chance... I'm not the type to sacrifice myself because of some tradition and a prophecy, you know - YRP's much more my style."
Yep, that dialogue was probably incomprehensible to most people. No, Megan didn't care.

[Dodgeson]

((You're right you know, I didn't get a word of that. ))

Outside of the museum, being kept off the steps by the assembled police officers is a throng of reporters, both television and print. Upon seeing our heroes they begin to jostle for their attention.

"What happened in there?"

"Who are you?"

"Are you with the Adventurers?"

"Huh...so you're assigning yourself the role of Yuna for this purpose? I'd have pegged you more Rikku style. Although...actually, considering how he makes machines fall apart, maybe Rick's our Rikku and holy cow they have really similar names too. Hey wait, isn't Meta guarding that uh...er ah...Serra girl? 'Cause if she were Yuna then Meta'd make a perfect Kimahri." He thought about it for a moment, and then frowned, saying, "Although...it would be the height of understatement to say I merely hesitate to cast you and I in the roles of Lulu and Wak-" Kevin cut off when they got outside and saw the crowd.

Oh. Yikes. Kevin kinda...smiled and waved (although his deer in headlights expression wasn't helping him much). And stepped back a bit a bit to let literally anyone other than him handle that.

What the heck is this?

Meta looks a little confused. News crews fall into his large list of "This is new".

"X-2 Yuna, mind you", Megan smiles, throwing her currenly-wand-like Buzzer into the air and catching it, mimicking the opening animation of the Gunner Dresssphere, "Though your assession is surely impressive" she added, stepping forward... wrong, cartwheeling forward and bowing to the reporters, "Kinda but not really", she says, "You can say... we're on a school field trip here, you know?"

[Dodgeson]

Well that answers at least some of their questions, clearly they're St Ambrose kids but now that they think they've identified the leader more questions are quickly forthcoming.

"Does your team have a name?"

"Do you have a statement?"

"Is that a dragon?"

[Obscurejones]

Rick ducks behind Meta, keeping the Dragon between himself and the cameras.
"Can we skedaddle? Not a big fan of being in print."

[jamieth]

For some reason, Megan never expected to be forced into s group's spokesgirl role, and was slightly taken aback upon becoming one. Still, she had to try at least, now that it came to it...
"Not as long as I'm aware of", she replied after a moment of thought, "not sure - do you, guys?" looking over her teammates, "and, I think not really, but you'll better ask Meta himself, I guess?"

Meta takes a step forward, and proudly announces.

One hundred percent full blooded Dragon.

[jamieth]

"Are you?" Megan whispers in surprise, turning to the apparently one-hundred-percent dragon, "I always thought you were half, or something... I mean, you look just like human, only with wings... I thought dragons were, you know, reptiles?"

[metakirb]

It's an age thing. The next thing to grow is a tail, then body shape changes to be more of what you know more widely as a dragon. I don't even know if there are any half breeds.

[Dodgeson]

The questions keep on coming from a press eager to get the scoop on the new young super team, though it wont be hard for our heroes to fly/leap/vault/be carried over the assembled members of the press and return to the Adventurer's Mansion (If that's indeed where they want to go) once they've had enough.

Kevin just shook his head when Megan passed the statement question to them. He still had a kinda deer-in-headlights look, although he'd stick around until Megan either indicated she didn't want to keep answering or looked like she didn't want to keep answering.

We should probably go see how the Adventurers are doing actually.

[Obscurejones]

Gremlin has ducked into his jacket, hiding as if from a sudden rainstorm.
"Awesome idea. Someone want to help the guy who can't fly and never joined the circus get the hell away from these guys? Please and thank you vedy vedy much."

[jamieth]

"Yep, I don't want to end up saying something that would get us in trouble with the teachers... or Adventurers", Megan nods, "Kevin, Meta, if you could take care of us again?"

Meta nods and moves so rick can climb onto his back again.
