The Savage Tide, Part 2 (IC)

R15T26: Out of any other ideas, Tom advances on the serpent with his spear. Too late to notice the div-spawn, Tom strikes forth with one of the finest thrusts he has ever made.

Only to find that his massive opponent displaced just enough with its damnable defensive illusion to spoil Tom's heroic attack.

R15T25: Amella continues her monlogue and defensively tries to heal her beleaguered "ally" again, and is successful as Ilzytik receives 10 healing.

R15T24: Skald misses all three of his attacks, the last being displaced.

R15T21: Eliezer, this is the last action which will enjoy your BoF spell before it dissipates. You know flank with Tom. What do you do?

R15T21: Eliezer swings thrice with his warhammer. Only the last seems to have even gotten close as Gili-Nachum skips off of Ilzytik's scales. Once his attacks are done, all of the allies feel the blessing that has so helped the party finally end.

R15T7: Ilzytik defensively casts a spell, barely managing to succeed, but it licks its wounds with a CMW for 9 healing.

R16T26: Tom, what do you do? Blessing of fervor is no longer active, so you lose that protection.

R16T26: Ilzytik moves perfectly to minimize Tom's breath to 7 cold, but as badly wounded as the monster is, it can't afford to lose anything.

R16T25: Amella continues her monlogue. She then concentrates defensively to cast a healing spell (dropping her hand crossbow), and Ilzytik makes sure to be touched by it for 9 healing.

R16T24: Of Skald's two attacks, the first one misses due to displacement.

R16T21: Eliezer, what do you do?

Rabbi Cohen - aware of both "enemy" combatants - sidesteps so that only Ilzytik can easily get to him. He then casts a spell to let Ilzytik know what the flame of Moradin's holy forge is like.

R16T7: Ilzytik defensively casts lightning bolt to strike back at the cleric. The bolted savages Eliezer for 22 mod electricity ... and destroys his mithral plate armor!!!!

R17T26: Tom, the tank of the party just lost his ... tankiness. What do you do?

R17T26: Tom stabs at the enemy, but his spear glides off of its scales. Around the same time, the loud noise from the noise dies off as Tom's wind wall spell ends.

R17T25: Amella spends this turn wrapping up her monolog as she has nothing left to give for bardic performance anymore (it still lasts one more round for she and Ilzytik). She steps a few feet to the west and uses her sword work to aid Ilzytik's defense while focusing on her own.

R17T24: Skald's first strike cleanly hits Ilzytik for 5 electricity.

R17T21: Rabbi Cohen concentrates carefully on the naga and then points his hammer as waves of abjuration magic wash over the enemy, but nothing appears to happen.

R17T7: Sensing Amella's exhausition, Ilzytik figures on making use of all of his thrall's efforts for at least a few seconds and bites at the newly unarmored, winged cleric. It was a good choice, too, for only through her stirring monologue is Ilzytik's bite able to get through Eliezer's surprisingly thick skin to do 8 mod (he saves against the poison).

R18T21: Eliezer tries to capitalize on Ilzytik's condition to finish him off, but can't get past the naga's scales or agility.

R18T7: Hissing with anger at his current predicament, Ilzytik concentrates defensively and casts scorching ray at Skald. Tom stabs hard into the scales to stop him, but can't penetrate; Skald does manage to nip Ilzytik painfully for 5 electricity - not enough to finish him; Lazer misses. Skald makes a brilliant dodge just barely out of the way of the first beam of heat, and the second beam just manages to catch him in his left shin, but still doing 12 fire to the half-fey, and Skald is in the red now.

R19T26: Tom, it looks like Ilzytik is finally on his last legs, er, scales. What do you do?

R19T26: Tom breathes more frost at the enemy. Ilzytik manages to move just right, but he is too tired and wounded for that to help him as the mere 5 cold drops him!

Skald finishes Ilzytik off with a double-puncture of well over what is needed to finally slay the spirit naga.

Combat Ends!!!

Amella stops. She drops both arms and blinks a few times. "Pithecanthropus!!!" she shouts angrily, realizing what happened, now that the charm is gone.

Rabbi Cohen makes darn sure Amella is with us again before he does a full heal.

After/ if that's done, he will burn off his remaining 5 channel energy attempts, and then what he can to heal. "We need to check this area out, and then rest, if possible. We are all exhausted, and I am almost out of my magic."

[Swami Monsoon]

"I don't have much left in the tank myself..."
Tom will use his remaining energy to heal if Lazer's is not enough.

Rabbi Cohen begins his healfest. It takes three channels to fully heal himself and what damage can be healed on Tom (though he has been weakened from battle with CON loss). Then he burns charitable impulse for a CSW that fully heals Skald's wounds. Rabbi Cohen casts lesser restoration on Tom, but only recovers 1 CON for the divspawn (though that goes a long way to making Tom feel significantly better anyway).

Taking a rest in here, Amella will have been sickened a full seven minutes, and Skald will be mute for a similar remaining amount of time.

Rabbi Cohen ... Tom, while they are recovering, what do you do? You never really had a chance to take stock of this room.

"Tom, can you put on senses aura again, please while we check this room?"

[Swami Monsoon]

Tom will reactivate the senses aura and help the others search the room, using Detect Magic on anything that seems interesting or unusual.

Now that THAT combat is over, the group is able to finally take a look at their surroundings. The western alcove in this chamber contains a pair of fountains, filled by water pouring out the fanged maws of large baboon heads. The heads are mounted on the walls just above the fountains. The water is quite murky, making it impossible to see the bottom of either fountain. On top of each baboon head is an iron valve, ostensibly used to shut off the water.

In addition, Tom's detect magic reveals that in the northwest corner of the room is a magical warhammer. Also, as Skald goes through the bone pile he uncovers a magical vial. Rabbi Cohen determines that the weapon is a +1 spell storing warhammer, and Skald recognizes that the vial is a potion of haste.

Tom, there seems to be a faint magical emanation from within the southern fountain, but the murk is such that he can't tell what.

What does the party do?

Tom checks if there is any way to drain the southern fountain.

[PSinger]

While he is checking the drain, Eliezer simply shuts the iron valve thats' by the baboon head with the water flowing out and into the fountain.

He looks to Tom. "Won't do to drain the fountain while still pouring water into it."

Just as Eliezer says this, the room is suddenly taken by a storm that reaches throughout the chamber. Everyone gets slammed by massive hailstones and a deep cold.

Eliezer: Unaffected. The hailstones and damaging cold fizzle before actually hitting him.

You recognize this as a powerful spell known as an ice storm. That initial blast was all the damage your allies will take, but rain and sleet will continue to fall probably for the next minute or so.

Eliezer and Tom, it is raining and sleeting ferociously in this room. What do you do?

"It's alright!" shouts Eliezer over the storm. "No more hail will hit us. It will last a minute. Let's just ride this out!"

Tom looks around the room to be sure there isn't a hidden assailant...

"Jobbernowl!" curses Amella angrily. "A blasted trap on the valve."

Sure enough, the whole event lasts for ~45 seconds of cold and wet and then ends just as suddenly, and all of the ice melts away. Most of the water evaporates, but not what made everyone wet (and cold), and some small bits left behind on the detritus that litters this room.

Still, the valve is shut and no more water is going into the southern fountain that had the weak emanation of magic from within its murky waters.

Now what?
