Keep in mind that Aequitus won't fight for the deity. He's there asking for their hope so he can continue fighting against what was said above. It's simply that the fight will go better and go on longer if they help. He's basically offering a chance to act as their mortal champion even if they can't truly control him.

Depending on what the Machine based god controls, it'd be perfectly acceptable since Aequitus uses both Archaic and Scifi Tech levels.

He doesn't smite only devils, and I suspect Bane would be a direct enemy of what Aequitus represents.

Those "DeVirals" he speaks of are demonic/devilish entities that have turned themselves into living corrupted code that can infect both advanced tech and living things. Think Cyborg Demons.
