Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
I got a weird error during my turn. I had a troop on "Move-to" command, but when I decided to go somewhere else, I tried click on them to cancel to automation so I can control him next turn. but whenever I clicked on him, the game immediately deselected him, making me unable to cancel his move command. Any idea why this happened?
Also, what technology allows open borders again? I forgot to look it up during my turn.

Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
Thank you both.
Now, just come curiosity here, but what spectators do we have to enjoy this game? Also, my steam acts weird whenever I open Civilization. I can't shift+tab to call up the steam profile and talk to other people, nor can I take screenshots because all I get is a black screen. If we do have spectators, I would love to post screen shots of our game to spice up the thread a little.

Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
I'm spectating! (all three threads even) As for shift+tab being wonky, I have issues with mine as well in several games. My high tech work around is to hit shift+tab repetedly until it works, or hold shift down then press and hold tab, release tab and then release shift. Usually after I get it to come up once, repeted uses of shift+tab work without issue.

Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
One of my Spearmen has been trapped by someone's expanding borders. I don't know who because I haven't actually seen any of their units yet (or I have and don't know it because I'm forgetting the color-coding and it doesn't actually tell you who owns land if you hover the mouse over it). You'll know who you are when you check a western border near the coast and find a spearman stuck between border and coast. Please identify yourself and open your borders as soon as you can?

All I can assure you is its not me. I have no western border that would impose that.

It's going to be a long time until Open Borders, you're probably better off "cheating" access through a short war.

Spoiler: To Arabia
Honoured Caliph,
King Jayangara was most pleased to hear that you are interested in learning the method of Eastern Calculus. Faith is important to any populace, and a system that allows for the seemless incorporation of multiple and disparate beliefs into the framework of society ensures maximum benefit for all. We shall be glad to help you set-up such a system, once we have been able to put together a team and equip them for the journey to your lands.
Respectfully yours,
Gajah Mada, Prime Minister of Indonesia.
Spoiler: To The Zulu
On behalf of King Jayangara, I bid your ambassadors welcome to Jakarta. Your generous gift of sugar has apparently proved quite a culinary sensation amongst to the general populace.

Spoiler: To the Spectators
Anyone feel up for a bit of audience participation? I just finished the Tradition tree and now it's a matter of deciding what option to pursue next. Given my religious economy I'm consider going the Peity route (and the religious tolerance civic synergises with the Indonesian unique building), but that will leave the question open of what reformation belief to go for. Alternatively I could aim for one of the other trees: Liberty, Honour, Patronage, Aesthetics or possibly Commerce if I hit the next era before my next policy.
I should have a map for you all up next time.

I have an event for this weekend to attend and will be unable to take my turn. If you guys could delay your turns as long as possible so that mine takes place after this coming weekend, I would be appreciative.

My internet access is going to be spotty for most of Easter, and I would guess I might not be the only one. Should we perhaps disable the turn limit for the next week or so?

Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
Spoiler: A message to Russia, from Indonesia
Your excellency Catherine,
I am writing to you on behalf of King Jayangara of Indonesia, concerning the island off our shared south coast. Our scouts have discovered that this land's climate would be perfect for the growing of a new breed of spice, of which we would be able to produce great quantities. However, to grow it would require us to first settle this island, which poses a bit of a problem. Specifically, to support any cultivation efforts we would require food, and while there are good wheatfields on the island, they lie rather close to your borders. Therefore, it would be greatly appreciated if you could avoid claiming those fields before our settlers arrive. Should you agree, I am sure his majesty will be able to repay you in the future, say by giving you a cut of the spice crop?
I look forward your reply.
Cordially yours,
Gajah Mada, Prime Minister of Indonesia.

Spoiler: For IndonesiaPrime Minister Gajah Mada,
I thank you for sharing your concerns.. and am willing to concede these fields and will make no official effort to claim them, however we do not intend to entirely restrict our people from expanding in what direction they may. That being said you would appear to have some time before the fields are claimed.
Sincerely,
Empress Catherine.
[Basically, they're marked for cultural claim in 4 turns. If you can tell me how to stop that, I will, but otherwise...]

Re: Civilization 5: Giant Multiplayer in the Playground II
In 560 AD, the first glorious cathedral of Rock was finished in the Austrian capital of Vienna. It was made from rock, to glorify the tenets of Rock. The same year, the Borobudur was also completed, a large holy structure built in three plateaus, symbolizing the stages of Rock. It was also made from rock.
(It's a shame there's no faith building with room for a Great Work of Music)

Spoiler: To Austria:Religious expression is a freedom granted among my people. What each person wants to believe is their right, as long as they tolerate others who follow different religion. If you want to introduce my people to the religious aspects of the rock, I have no objections.
In addition, we are quite soon to be acquiring more salt than my people can use. Would this be of interest to you?
