    Alyssa

In a surprising turn of events, the leader of the Naga suddenly appeared, lashing out with fiery rays and a seductive gaze. Blinking away the sinister power of the snake, Alyssa stepped back and called upon her own powers of flame to strike back. With her cloud of burning air suddenly gone, she could clearly see all four nagas, and her face split into a wide grin. "Think you are the only ones who understand the cleansing power of fire, serpants? Let me show you the error of your ways ..." With a wave, and a roar, gouts of fire sprung up, engulfing each of the naga's in holy fire.

The powerful naga sorceress leans back ophidian blood spraying across the room as a massive claw batters her and the long spear of Nan jabs into her twice and then thrice. Only the powerfully built yet now confused tiger is unable to make contact. The naga nearest the group is abused brutally. Baevard smashing the creature around the head before his dwarven companion runs in slamming beast tumbling backwards bouncing with spine crushing force against the wall before the tentacles envelop it. The other two naga writhe and cry within the tentacles.

Then, light blooms.... fire exploding throughout the room as fire hotter than the sun sears the skin of the foul beasts, eyes burned and scorched by the flash of heat. The naga battered by the dwarves is reduced to ash, a carbonised outline on the ground. Only the most powerful of the naga's resists the fire. The two lesser naga struggling, blinded by the smoke unable to escape, their panicked writhing growing desperate as the tentacles begin to choke the life from them.

The boss Naga hisses madly, fire exploding in the centre of the room. Then it turns it magic inwards, crackling worm filled energy coursing through its body healing some of the grevious wounds.

    Nan

The sounds emerging from the shieldmaiden's mouth can no longer properly be called music, and certainly not language. There is a strange rhythm and cadence to it, though, regardless. She ducks behind her floating shield just in time to avoid the worst of the blast, and is barely singed by it. She snarls and stabs furiously at the naga, again and again.

Pergrim's satisfaction at seeing the first Naga reduced to cinders is replaced by concern as a second wave of heat blasts down the corridor. The leader is still kicking, he thinks. Well, not kicking …

"Are you lot all right?" he calls. "Remember, we need one of them alive. Or at least talking."

Jeb growls back, "This one is too dangerous, try to subdue another. Maybe my jaws will get around one." The troll and white tiger strike again in tandum, their strikes strangely coordinated, striking with tooth and claw to slay the evil. Though lit aflame by the fireball, his wounds begin to close back up. The tiger is less fortunate, his fur singed and burnt from the fire.

The spirit jaws continue to seek out a target to grapple.

    Alyssa

Her flames destroyed one of the naga's, but the leader managed not only to survive, but to launch a fireball back and heal itself entirely! Fortunately, her flames were not yet done, as the bursts burned again. She conjured forth a ball of flame that she launched towards the lead naga, transforming the flames into a ball of pure white flame as it flew towards the foul creature. She ignored Pergrim's statement, having never made any agreement to parley with these things, let alone allow one to live! Once her spell was launched, she moved around the corner, trying to avoid being instantly slain by the next blast ...

    Baervard

Squinting his eyes from the flash of heat and light Baervard opens them long enough to see the roasting corpses of the Naga in the chamber beyond. "One left." He says and turns around to see Pergrim, Jeb, and his pet engaged with the hideous Naga at the other end of the room.

Alyssa's hurt...and Nan and Amy are cursed. Baervard hefts his warhammer up onto his shoulder and takes off at a sprint. Though slow at first the heavily armored dwarf picks up speed and his foot stomps echo off the walls. "Tend to yourself, lass!" He shouts to Alyssa as he passes her and takes up his warhammer in both hands again. As he nears the Naga he brings the warhammer up over his head and down in a wide swing, trying to cripple the abomination.

Pergrim shakes his head as the two Naga in front of him collapse, hanging limply in the still-flailing tentacles. One of them might have been able to help them find this Balakarde — assuming the lost mage had made it this far. Jeb was right about the leader, though; it seemed to have too many tricks to safely question.

Pelting back toward the room, he sees the Naga virtually surrounded — but Alyssa looking worse for wear. Taking three quick breaths, he summons memories of health and vitality and releases them in a swirl of azure energy that envelops the stricken mage.

In a great wave of fire the other two naga's are consumed by the remnants of what can best described as Alyssa's rage before she unleashes more fire upon the powerful magical Naga. The spell burning and searing its flesh. Seconds later many of her wounds closing under Pergrim's ministrations.

Even as the spells blast it the parties melee brutes assail and abuse the creature with extreme prejudice! Nan's spear jabbing 3 deep holes that spill dark blood... A massive claw thudding into it seeking to smash it into the ground, luckily though the myriad wardings shield it from the worst as the tiger scratches at an invisible field of force and Baevard's hammer slams into the same with a massive resounding booming sound...

The creature is clearly angry at the rough treament it is receiving hisses loudly threatening you in a language long lost to any realm now present. Magic ripples from its form as black crackling energy leaps forth from its body, black rays seeking to rip the sight from Nan's eyes even as it points at Alyssa, a single word as the woman feels her life force being dragged out of her body! powerful magic to combat the holy fire that had so wounded it!

The feral creature that had been Nan feels darkness close in on it from every direction. It shakes its scaled head and roars defiantly, pointed teeth emphasizing her central argument clearly. Nan stabs the worm-person repeatedly. Clearly, if the pointed stick had not made the big worm stop moving around and shouting, the solution was to stab it with the pointed stick again.

Heart beating loud in her chest, she racked her brain, trying to think about what could help here. The beast's gaze was devestating, and it was only a matter of time before it caught her off guard ... but she couldn't just leave her companions to face the creature alone. Uncertain what else to do, she opted for calling upon one of her few protective magics ...

As the others pound on the Naga, Pergrim hustles to where Amy sat, looking scared and stupefied. As he holds up a hand to ward off the creature's baleful gaze, he plucks the Rod of Seven Parts from his belt and presses it to her forehead, muttering calming words.

Flickering red energy flows over the party shielding them from more scorching rays as dark necromantic powers are warded safely by the faith and strength of Nan and Jeb. The pair of fighters along with the angered dwarven priest show their displeasure with tooth, spear and claw. Naga blood sheeting the dusty floor before the beast is battered to the ground by a great smash of Baevard's hammer, the skull cracking under the impact with a horrific crunching noise as it dies.
The forgemaster leans over Amy, a prod with the fabled Rod of Law immediately recovering her wits and her mind and her body....

Even as the fight ends, naga bodies scattered about both rooms you can all hear in your minds a deep laughing sound, a dry crackle to it as it builds to a loud sound. The telepathic words echo loudly in your thoughts "You have come far... further than most. Your deaths shall be satisfying your souls my playthings."

    Nan

As the great naga falls to Baevard's hammer, Nan falls into a feral crouch, the black-blooded tip of her spear wavering, as if to fend off unseen adversaries. She hesitantly allows Alyssa to approach, grunting unhappily. As the healing magic takes hold, Nan - even in her troglodyte form - visibly relaxes, her bestial fury replaced by an all too human emotion - guilt. Her eyes dart around at all of her colleagues.

"Oh, uh, thank you! how strange. It was like I was in some kind of fog. Is everyone all right?"

I think we're all well for now, though we've still got that to contend with," Pergrim replies, jabbing a finger at the ceiling in reference to the telepathic threat. It was apparent the others had 'heard' it, too.

"But we're still no closer to finding this Balakarde. He's probably been eaten, but it'd be helpful to know. Eventually we should leave something alive long enough to tell us if we're on a bum shaft."

The search around the chamber is impressive in the volume of tomes of an arcane nature that are found. From the pictures and vague sense of evil from many you would suspect that they are mainly concerned with the arts of death and dying - both magical and religious. One of the books however is more interesting, a picture of a dwarf crushing a titan on the front and powerful magic contained within.

Pergrim flips through the pages of the library briefly, dwelling on the portrait of the Dwarf and Titan and trying to recall any recollections from his very extended family it might refer to. There were plenty of such stories in his memories, of course, but which ones were actual histories, which were exaggerations and which simple were simple heroic tales was impossible to tell.

Noticing Alyssa's glare, he closes the book and stuffs it, with some of the others, in Grillin's pack.

    What about these?

With obvious distaste, Amy holds up one of the other books.

If we're facing undead minions and now possibly Kyuss himself we may well learn something that can aid us in their destruction.

    Amy shrugs.

If you're confident we know everything we need to know. I've never heard of Naga who are surrounded by a Feeblemind spell and I'm certain that my knowledge of undeath is far from completely exhaustive. I'd hate for us to fail to find this man and be killed in this place of horror because we arrogantly cast aside something that could help.

Still, I do not relish the idea of putting in the time required to study this information. What is the human phrase? He who fights monsters should see to it that he himself does not become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.

At some point during this, Amy seems to have stopped talking directly to Jeb and is musing to herself.
