Niara stops short, and blinks. 'Sorry, it strikes me that you're probably not interested the slightest.' The woman is blathering about metal compositions, for goodness sake.

'Learning is pretty much what I live for,' Niara admits. 'Though I don't think I'll ever be satisfied. There are always more questions than answers, I've found... always more to discover.'

The smile on her face is one of mild excitement, just from thinking about the prospect of all that knowledge.

A white-robed, gerbil cleric flies into Trog's, and by flies, I mean he slowly floats forward about a foot above the ground. The left half of his face is robotic, and is all too clearly an imitation of everyone's favorite cyborg. The rodent's only weapon is a metal staff, barely longer than the gerbil holding it, though it is a technological masterpiece, and the source of this cleric's powers. He eventually makes it to the bar and slowly levitates, landing on the counter top and asking for a dish of water and a celery stick.
Yes, this is MaGerbil.

Shift notices the gerbil as soon as it floats in, and grins a little lopsidedly. Concentrating, he shape-shifts into a brown and white gerbil with a black rose pattern on his side. He scampers over to the bar and uses his shifting once again, just long enough to grab hold of the edge before turning back into a gerbil. Once on top of the bar, he acts like a regular gerbil, nosing the gerbil cleric in a friendly manner.

He supposed that the other gerbil might wonder about his lack of gerbil-ish eating habits, but he preferred steaks.

"You could say that." It wasn't a lie, by any means. Carrots tend to taste better with steak than celery does. "My name is Shift. I'm here on a... Business trip? I think that's about accurate..." Being a traveling glassblower, Shift was always on a business trip of sorts. "And you?"

"Nice to meet you. You said deity. What kind of deity is he?" Being what he was, Shift tried to make sure he knew of all the cultural nuances of each race he could shape-shift into.

My deity is Lord Magtok, cyborg. I have lived my life far longer than my kin, due to my metal augmentations. For this, I owe him my life, and have declared myself his cleric. All my powers stem from this staff. He raises the metal rod in question, before bringing it down on the wooden bar and making a metal sparrow appear

Shift thought for a moment, wondering where he'd heard the name 'Magtok' before. When it didn't come to him, he shrugged slightly. "Sounds impressive. So, comparatively, how long have you lived?"

I've lived for 6 years, so about 2-300 years comparatively, I suppose. He certainly doesn't look that old. Though, he's no spring chicken, as far as gerbils go.

"I see. That's quite an accomplishment." Smiling, Shift decided that it was probably not a good time to mention that he was above twenty years old. He wasn't quite ready to reveal his true nature.

Michalson, a lanky half-elf in a grey robe that's seen better days, is lounging in a corner of the tavern. As usual, he's surrounded with a cloud of pipe smoke.

"Around three and ten." He hoped that MaGerbil assumed that 'three and ten' meant around three years and ten months, instead of the reality of around thirty years. Luckily, Shift knew many ways to express numbers, and some of them were lesser known.

Shift mentally congratulated himself for managing to not tell the truth and not lie at the same time. It was quite the accomplishment.

*The door opens and a equine-ish head peeks into the tavern. A VERY shaggy llama wearing a black mask and Inari's holy symbol around his neck looks around to see if its safe to enter, and not seeing a raging battle trots in and orders oooh, oooh, oooh. I need a rootbeer in a bowl, please!

He surveys the scene, nodding to the cloud of pipe smoke in the corner as well as any other patrons and relaxes next to a table, waiting for Cosmo to get him a drink.

His ears perk listening in on the conversations because ..well...mostly because he's a curious sort.

The llama studies the CatTok. He's never seen a cyborg kitty before but this one looks particularly familar. Also the shiny metal parts allow him to groom his bushy winter coat a little better.
