Re: Noncivilized World: Message in a Dream IC
"...I was inside that web... thing for a few days. I think that is why the spiders didn't touch me before... they took my leg that day. Because they had something else to eat", the elf shudders and touches the stump of her leg. "Anyway, I... saw the orc get killed. He was the same one whose life I had spared and I guess he had followed me from the mountains. I don't know why, I said I had paid a dept."
She lets out a deep sigh, "Maybe it was the gods' will.. They wanted to show me how foolish I had been. The orc died anyway and I am crippled."

Re: Noncivilized World: Message in a Dream IC
"So you owe him a life debt again. This time you will have to find another way to repay it. That is the only way either of your spirits will gain peace." Asha decided not to mention that the 'orc', as they had called that odd looking humanoid, might have just had a crush on her. She was starting to get the idea not all tribes took in members like hers.
Even when it made sense, after all the tribe had to grow somehow and absorbing others had given them an edge for so long, different fighting skills, magics, even foods. Though she did feel pride at belonging to one of the original families, that was the only reason she had learned how to bind the ancestors.
How empty it must feel not to share ones body with their spirits, even with the possible downsides Asha had never felt anything but more alive after joining.Moved my stuff over to HERE!

"You paid your debt to him by sparing his life. It was his choice to follow you, and whatever happened, it does not negate what you did for him. You have honour that your tribe will never know." Taesha hoped her words were a comfort to the woman, who had lost so much already.

Re: Noncivilized World: Message in a Dream IC
Eldien doesn't know what to say to the other women, but her troubled expression eases a little.
To Tuntematon she says, "They are our enemies. And... lately the orcs have started to come to the south side of Strong Rock, looking for the good stones that can be found there, for weapons I think. My tribe does not permit that."Last edited by CWater; 2014-03-04 at 08:13 PM.

Re: Noncivilized World: Message in a Dream IC
Eventually, the conversation dies down and the party prepares to rest for the night. From the tents and other materials they have, they manage to build a decent shelter. Their furs also protect them from the worst pinch of cold in the yet early spring.
Most of the night passes quietly, though it's still almost pitch dark when Taesha wakes Tuntematon for the last watch.
SpoilerSince there was no voiced opinoins, I'm going to say that you built one big shelter where everyone sleep, except Kanok and Fang who wanted to sleep outside.
Would our centaur make Spot and Listen checks, please. Our resident incarnum user can make them too, since I'm not feeling very evil today.

Re: Noncivilized World: Message in a Dream IC
Tuntematon is saying his morning prayers to the strange Alnin, his holy symbol glowing occasionally. He hears only the usual forest sounds, early birds singing and some minor rustling. Some small sound wakes Fang though and the wolfhound rises its head. Sniffing the air, he detects very very faint smell of blood.
It is still quite dark, though the sky has started to turn bluer and the stars are fading away from sight.Last edited by CWater; 2014-03-06 at 06:07 PM.

Re: Noncivilized World: Message in a Dream IC
Standing by the small campfire, Tuntematon gets the feeling that something is watching him. Looking around, he doesn't spot any movement and still something in the surroundings seems different than a moment before. Had there always been so many bushes? It's hard to tell in the dark.
Fang stands up and is facing the forest, his nose telling him that there's something unusual, even if his eyes cannot locate it. Suddenly red glowing eyes look back at him from the darkness and before he has time to make a sound a small creature that looks like a twisted humanoid made of tree leaps forward from the darkness and tries to claw the wolfhound with it's long fingers.

Re: Noncivilized World: Message in a Dream IC
Aidan has not quite woken up yet and his attacks miss. Kanok manages to land a blow with his club, but the creature is still standing and evades Fang's attack. Kanok remembers some stories of these creatures, they can be found also in the forests close to his home.
SpoilerGood knowledge roll there. They are called twig blights, bloodthirsty plants that are known to lurk around campsites. Individually weak, they often seek strength in numbers. Their claws are mildly poisonous, and arrows and spears are not very effective against them.

Re: Noncivilized World: Message in a Dream IC
Tuntematon's swing misses as the creature jumps out of the way. Taesha manages to land a powerful blow on another, removing it's wooden head from the shoulders. Asha stabs the one who clawed her with her spear, poking a hole to it's wooden body. But the scratch doesn't seem to affect the creature much and it looks a bit like it's grinning wickedly.
Stiira looks around with a terrified expression, and moves past Eldien to the other side of the shelter. She then picks a small black spiky thing from her pouch and mutters some arcane words. As a result, 2 inch long spikes grow out of her skin and clothing. Eldien tries to crawl away from the closest creatures.

Re: Noncivilized World: Message in a Dream IC
Kanok growls in anger and frustration, then whips his club in a lateral swing, using his powerful core muscles in a mighty twist, trying to whack the one he already wounded, to get it out of the fight. It is hard to track it's movements in the shadows, however, and his strikes are based more on intuition than aim; if only he had time to summon light. Meanwhile, Fang launches his jaws at the newest approaching twig-monster, scared and confused by the scene, but is overcome with wild anger more than anything.
