Default Black Crusade: Against the False Emperor [IC]

In the depths of the Immaterium, a storm rages. Fierce and unrelenting, it has engulfed the ship Eternal Dominion for weeks. The Navigator struggles to keep her on course, to no avail. The crew is growing restless. The things lurking in the darkest corners of the ship are growing bolder. And deep in the brig, the ship's problems are about to become so much worse...

    Robert Halloway:
    Spoiler
    Show
You've been in this cell for... days? Weeks? Months? You can't tell. There's no real sense of day or night here. No one talks to you or tells you anything. Your hands and feet are bound in heavy chains, your implants almost all deactivated by some strange device they placed on you. Even your cranial circuitry is having a difficult time operating in all of this. There's been nothing to do but stare at the blank wall and think.

You're snapped out of your reverie by the sudden intense shaking of the ship. You topple over onto your side. When you hoist yourself up with your organic arms, you notice the shackles on your hands have broken open. You check the ones on your feet. The same thing has happened. Your implants still feel dull, useless, but you are free of your chains.

    Now what?

    Alexandria Halloway:
    Spoiler
    Show
It's maddening. Simply maddening. You've been stuck inside a warded cell for what feels like an eternity. The walls around you glow faintly with hated symbols of the False Emperor's power, suppressing your connection to the Warp The chains binding your wrists and ankles to the wall do as well. You haven't been allowed anything - no freedom, no walking, no conversation, and no lho sticks. You've been experiencing symptoms of withdrawal for a while now.

The ship sudden rocks, hard. Even in your wards you can hardly fail to sense the immense outpouring of psychic power. Without warning, your chains simply explode. Sharp pieces of warded metal fly in every direction, cutting into your flesh. The walls follow, hurling small chunks of rockcrete all over you, slicing you even more. It hurts, but when the dust settles, your chains are gone.

    Now what?

    Mercutio Victus:
    Spoiler
    Show
You've been trapped in the unbearable tedium of this featureless cell for a long time now. How long? You don't no, but it feels like its been an eternity since you were last able to indulge in any vice. Even the feeling of pain is denied you - your chains bind your limbs tightly enough to prevent you from doing anything to yourself with them.

You stagger as you feel the ship quake beneath your feet, and you slam backwards into the wall. It hurts, but at least its some feeling again. Suddenly, the shackles holding you snap open, and you fall to your hands and knees.

    Now what?

    Kalnak:
    Spoiler
    Show
One minute you're being hauled into some cell in chains by ogryn and forced to stand in a weird-looking field, jeering faces all around. Next thing you know, you fall forward and hit the floor. The people are gone, your chains broken, and the odd device has sputtered and died.

    Now what?

    Logan Felix:
    Spoiler
    Show
These horrible, uncivilized Imperial brutes! Don't they know who you are? They've chained you up and simply left you to rot. They even took Gabby away from you! You'd do something about it if you weren't shackled to the ground.

You're yanked away from your self pity by the room around you shaking hard. You stumble around, hitting the wall with your face. That hurts. You rub your face with your hand. Belatedly, you remember you shouldn't be able to do that. Your chains have fallen off.

    Now what?

    Pleagious:
    Spoiler
    Show
You don't remember too much. You were dragged here, you recall, and forced to stand in a stasis crypt while chains were snapped on your wrists and ankles. Now you find yourself on your knees, alone and unshackled in a featureless cell.

    Now what?

Rubbing her wrists and legs, muscles shaking from the constant constraints and the lack of lho in her system, Alexandria almost felt as though she had detoxed. Almost. She looked around the cell to see whether or not the door to this warded hell had been opened. If not... it would be time to begin the slow, arduous process of figuring out just how to escape from this prison.

Mercutio relishes the feeling of pain, finally something. He stands still for a few seconds before cracking his neck and starting up a cheerful whistle. He sauntered around the room, still whistling checking it out before going to the door see if it was unlocked.

Boredom might have driven another man insane. Maybe it had driven Robert insane, maybe he had gone full circle, well beyond the snapping point. But all he knew was that for once he had time to think. It wasn't the worst thing in the world. He had made plans and elegant designs, theories and constructs that he eagerly wished to test out. He had been talking to himself, vocalizing softly just to help him hear his ideas and see the flaws within them.

It was almost... pleasant for the Heretek, the first time in years he had been left to truly work on his designs without distractions.

Then, distracting happened. He fell, and noticing his lack of bondage started to rub the flow of blood back into his extremities, feeling a bit weak after... how long? He wasn't certain, but he was sure it was far too long in one position. His body flexed slowly as he worked up the blood and circuits, making sure that his body would still serve him. His tentacles were still down. And there was a disturbing lack of activity from his mental implants. His wings however, not truly cybernetic, only appearing as such, seemed unaffected as he flexed the pinions.

His mind quickly formed a priority list, assessing the situation he was in. The possibility of an unknown assistant to escape the situation was unlikely, as somehow his restraints had been damaged. Poor maintenance perhaps, or a mechanical mishap. Either way, it was not deliberately released. He was functioning at a fraction of his capacity, which had to be corrected. For the moment, there seemed no disturbance, but whatever had knocked him down likely had drawn the attention of his captors. It seemed reasonable.

He looked over the Cybernetics that he could get a good look at, likely the Mechatentacle, Servo Arm, and his own impants within his torso and their access points on his skin. If he could safely disable or remove the restraining devices upon them, he'd feel much more confident. While it was... irksome... not to have his full mental capacity at the moment, and ability to interface properly with machines, he didn't want to blindly fumble with these devices by touch, until he knew what he was working with.
Currently sick as a dog and unable to focus properly. Will heal soon.

Pleagious took a slow rattling breath. His body awoke, muscles tensing shaking himself out of that long stasis. He stood slowly rising to his full height in his cell. It took him a moment to get his bearings, his memory was a haze. He remember being dragged here and forced into a stasis crypt. How long has been asleep, how long has nurgles call gone unanswered? "Those who have kept me here will have to pay.." His cell was featureless, no point in looking. Raising a hand to his ear he listened.

Logan slowly took his hand away from his face, and laughed he looked around, just to make sure he was free. He then rubbed his face again, checking he hadn't broken his nose, that would be a disaster. Well, now what? The only obvious course of action, shout and see if anyone is around... "Hello? Is anyone keeping an eye on me? or am I on my own here? he called out, voice trailing off at the last.

He took a few unsteady steps forward testing his legs, they seemed to be able to take his weight still, but felt very unsteady. Running a hand through his mess of hair he knew what he had to do, Now where in the warp is Gabby.

Kneeling down, careful not to press her body against the wards of the wall, Lex pressed the door open and looked around. Kalnak looks about, stroking his head as he begins to rub his hands, which sadly lacked the distinct feeling of two chainfists. He felt almost naked, unprotected, stripped of who he was. Rubbing his eyes, he then placed a hand on his horn and looked at his surroundings.

"Whit th' heel? whit..... whaur am Ah?...... mair important, where's mah rum!!!"

Kalnak snorted out in rage, stomping his foot down and dragging it back repeatedly, and lowering his head to point his horns to the cell door. Charging forward, Kalnak grabbed the hinges of the cell door and tried to tear it free.

    Spoiler: OOC

Kalnak will attempt to rip the door off its hinges to use as a shield and improvised weapon. I'm assuming there is a door, atleast. Am I incorrect in this assesment?

Looking out, you can see some sort of hideous alien monstrosity burst out of a cell several doors down. The door hits the wall with a loud bang. It's grey-scaled and reptilian, with four arms, four legs, a tail, and an elongated head. It drops to all eight limbs and scurries in the opposite direction from you, where you can hear shouting. Another door opens as it runs by, and you can see a giant of a man stepping out.

Nope nope nope nope nope nope. She decided to take a risk. A calculated risk, but still. Without the power of her warp staff, any exertion of psychic might was inherently dangerous, and that meant she needed to find her brother and her actual gear -- and fast. Closing her eyes, Lex channeled the power of the Kineshield, attempting to envelop herself in a telekinetic bubble. "Lekki vash'tzk omani ra!" she incanted softly, hoping not to draw the attention of the strange beast or the apparent Astartes.

Well that was... hmm... clearly these devices are interfering with his cogitators more than he would have wished.

Robert scowled, but shrugged, perhaps with proper diagnostic tools, he could do better with deciphering and disarming these devices. Definitely an objective worth pursuing.

He looked around his 'cell', paying attention to his surroundings for the first time in... days? Weeks? He shook his head. It had seemed pointless and uninteresting. But clearly there was little here for him. He reached down, looking for a bit of his shackles as they burst that he might use as a simple cutting tool. Never knew when you'd have to splice wiring or need to strip some.

"... now... let me learn your secrets..." he murmured to help focus himself, now that he had his improvised 'tool', and was endeavoring to open the door, determined to splice into the controls if need be.

Kalnak looks at the door that refuses to open up, and proceeds to roar every louder. He begins to punch the door furiously, over and over and over, before finally pausing and walking away from the door.

"Ack, ah got tae hink wi' mah heed..... Mah heed! Hah!"

And with that Kalnak backed himself up to the end of his cell, lowered his head, and charged forward smashing his head against the cell door. And then repeating the process. Again. And Again. And again. After the sixth or seventh time of bashing his head against the door, he backed up, raised his foot up high, and kicked the center of the door with all his might.

(Assuming that he fails, which given the laws of comedy are far, far too likely)

Mercutio sighs at the annoyingly loud creek. Folding his arms he leans against the door frame, sticking his head out a little not quite opening the door all the way. Seeing the augmented guy he has to think for a few seconds. I remember that dude, oh....what was it? A yes Robert!, Mercutio then took a few seconds to remember who he was then. He whistled a quick sharp tune, trying not to, too loud. Then in more or less a whisper "Yo, Robert, what's up?"

A whistle. Robert swung his gaze towards the source of it, momentarily distracted from the giant xenos. Someone, he struggled to put a name to the face, but failed. People was always more of his sister's thing. He felt his wings flex in annoyance at the lack of his ability to place the person properly.

Even though he cleared knew him. At least well enough for him to remember HIS name...

He frowned, and took a glance at the Xenos beast, making sure that it's attention was elsewhere before waving the supposedly familiar man over. "Make haste," he instructed, keeping his eyes out for the return of the possible return of the Xenos beast.

A voice he did recognize, and a name that he could put to it! Robert smiled, beaming as he looked over towards the source of it, "Lexi?" he asked in a hushed tone, careful not to let his excitement carry his voice towards the departing beast. "Are you okay Lexi?"

He spared one last glance through the corridor, before scurrying off towards his sister's voice, and leaving his cell behind, armed with little more than a bit of scrap metal in his hand, more useable as a tool than a weapon.

Pleagious raised an eyebrow at the passing Xenos, as long as it stayed away form him he had no quarrel with it. The first priority was to regain his battle-plate and armaments. I need my scythe back. He eyes the others as they emerge one by one from their cells. Two it seems know eachother.

"So I am not the only one entombed within this prison?" He approaches the others his steps heavy. "Perhaps we have common cause here. Tell me, why were you lot entombed here?" His eyes mark their souls, a gift from the gods. He kept looking over his shoulder should that Xenos make a return.

When no reply came Logan shrugged, clearly the emperor botherers had got bored with standing guard. Typical, no discipline at all. He walked over to the door and gave it a solid kick, if anyone was on the other side the noise should wake them up enough to get some attention.

On the other end of the hall, another giant man with a pair of huge horns bursts out of his cell very loudly.

    You are now all outside.

    Kalnak:

Logan is a little shocked that the door opened, he had just hoped to make a bit of noise. Well clearly it was going to be a good day and he smiled wider and began to laugh as he stepped out, seeing the others, clearly fellow prisoners he smiled a toothy smile at them. "Well, what have we here then? The easiest jail break in the history of humanity? So friends, what brings you to this dark locale?" he spreads his arms in a gesture of good will, even if they were an odd bunch, you know the saying The enemy of my enemy...

"If I don't get a lho stick I'm going to turn this whole ship inside out, but other than that, I'm fine." She hugged herself and shivered, rubbing the various wounds from the exploding manacles. "How about you? It doesn't look like they tore you apart, so that's good..."

The Astartes asked her a question, and Lexi turned to look at him. He seemed... misshaped, even for one of his kind. "Apparently they have a thing against psykers who aren't, y'know, in their system. Weird, huh? Lex Halloway. And you are?"

"... they did something to me..." Robert replied to Lexi, gesturing to the devices on his body, and his braincase. He shook his head, trying to focus his mind on his sister. He ripped at his clothing, taking a shred of his sleeve, and tried to clean up some of her wounds. "... you must take better care of yourself. The Rak'Gol might sense your injuries."

Momentary fussing over, he nodded, glad to see his sister was doing well enough, her scraps not serious.
Currently sick as a dog and unable to focus properly. Will heal soon.

Seeing Robert run off, Mercutio sighed, "Hey Robert, its Kalvin. " He ducked his head further out the door making sure they were no more creepy xenos, before jogging to catch up to him. Seeing the small gathering and noticing the girl, "Lexi" Mercutio gave a grand flourishing bow before standing up straight and giving a wink towards her direction.

"Seems like some of us are a little more blessed than others. I was thinking about getting a time share here, it's such a cozy little brig, don't you think?" Some of Lex's good-natured tone was gone. The chemically-induced ache in her brain throbbed angrily with its lack of lho, and the psyker was on edge as it was. Being wrapped in warp-repelling chains, unable to even walk... it had certainly reminded her of moments with Niall. Moments she had been happy to let fester in the dark recesses of her mind.

Lex rolled her eyes, holding out her limbs so Robert could tend to the scratches. "It's not like I cut myself or anything. Hardly my fault the thrice-damned chains exploded whenever the Warp did. Speaking of -- I'm guessing that's what caused everything to go cockeyed. There was a warpstorm so powerful I felt it inside my warded cell. Rakghouls or whatever are the least of our worries if the gellar field broke down." Lexi grimaced as the scrap of cloth touched against a particularly sensitive wound.

"If we can find out where they stuck our stuff, I can try and repair you. Nothing a little forward-thinking can't solve, eh?" Lex gave him a cheeky grin before turning her eyes to the non-Robert individual who called her Lexi.

"You must not remember what happened the last time you called me that, Kalvin. Stick to Lex, yeah?" Hugging herself after Robert finished his cursory examination, Lex shivered and looked around the brig.

"Look, introductions are great and all, but seriously, I need a ****ing smoke. Monster went that way -- if we have to follow him, maybe we could just, I dunno, have the big mountain go in front? He seems tough enough for that sort of thing." Lexi looked around to see if there was a second way out of the prison block they had been held in. Lexi figured it must have been the 'special acquisitions' block, some sort of vault where trophies were being kept. A second-generation heretek? A psyker? An Astartes? A rack smacker or whatever Robert had called the icky eight limbed monstrosity? She didn't know what Kalvin or Mr. Chipper were doing here, but presumably there was more than met the eye with both for them to be contained in the same area as these other prizes.

I don't think an Awareness test is necessary for just 'looking around,' but just in case...

(1d100)[10] TN 45/55 for Awareness, 55 if Glimpse succeeds.

Another non-human. Interesting. Robert found himself momentarily distracted as he watched the humanoid xenos run off after the Rak'Gol, seeing if it matched up to any of his Xenos lore lessons, or at least the ones he could recall with half of his brain gimped up by the strange devices they had affixed to him.

"Yes. Let us find our items. There should be a cage somewhere nearby, where they stripped us of our belongings before internment," Robert added, at least recalling from his knowledge of Imperial standards and practices from his youth. He hovered close to Lexi, not sure that he could do anything if the Rak'Gol returned, other than be crunchy and require the Xenos to chew a lot. Much less if the Fatboy decided to start something. But he still subconsciously placed himself to cover Lexi if need be. Some habits were just hard to break.

    Another Forbidden Lore: Xenos check.
    (1d100)[77] vs 73. 63 Int, +10 Xenos.
I suppose Common Lore (Imperial Navy) to guess at where the brig's vault may be, storing our gear.
(1d100)[35] vs 63. Trained in the lore, no bonus though.

The psyker held up a finger, tilting her head to the side. Her divination helped provide some modicum of additional sensory information, something she might have missed had she not stolen a glimpse of the future. "Do you hear that?" Lexi asked, brow furrowed. "Someone or something else is still down here with us, pounding at the door. Might be good to find out what it is before it breaks free. Considering how easy it was for us to break free, I mean..." She took a step closer to Robert, eyes moving around the assembled group. By the Gods her head hurt...

"And it looks like the only way out is forwards. Hopefully the wacky racky will have killed any resistance on its way out. I wouldn't mind finding its corpse on the way, but then, that would mean we'd become corpses too pretty ****ing quickly, wouldn't we... know anything about this sort of ship, Robert? I can't really remember Dad's."
