Martian Theater version vs DVD (spoilers) question
Okay, I think I'm losing my mind.
I saw the Martian in theaters when came out, and again just now in DVD.
Did they cut a line out of the Project Elrond scene for the DVD?
I distinctly remember Sean Bean saying something to the effect of "how is it it you haven't seen (lotr)?" "Hasn't everyone seen lotr?"
But there was no such line on the DVD. No sign of it in the extras either.

Re: Martian Theater version vs DVD (spoilers) question
I'm pretty sure that line isn't there. It's not in the book, it wasn't in the online version (HBONow has it), and it's weirdly clumsy writing that seems inconsistent with the rest of it.
I would really like to see a game made by Obryn, Kurald Galain, and Knaight from these forums.
I'm not joking one bit. I would buy the hell out of that. -- ChubbyRain

Not that specific line, no, although I do remember the press liaison telling everyone she hated them all.
But as I recall, Sean Bean was fairly muted in that scene.

Re: Martian Theater version vs DVD (spoilers) question
I vaguely remember something like that, just barely, though; the only line I can solidly remember was "If we're naming it Project Elrond, I want my code name to be Glorfindel."
EDIT: Actually, looking up the quotes section on IMDb, this is the closest I could find:
"The council of Elrond. It's the... it's... it's from The Lord of the Rings. It's the meeting where they decide to destroy the one ring."
Maybe that was what you were thinking of?Last edited by AdmiralCheez; 2016-08-03 at 03:51 PM.
