I'd guess it has to do with leaving peanut with the one dude. Though honestly I agree, Ardon seemed to care more about Peanut's well being than any other character we have seen him interact with.

That sounds like a pretty useful magic item to leave behind because you think it will be happier/safer where it is than coming with you (regardless of how wrong that assumption was, the intent was very much in the right place)

My point is that he's not judging Ardon by intent, but by actions. And his entire interaction history with Ardon has been being casually used as a semi-sentient prop/tool, right up until the end where he's abandoned without a second thought to spend the rest of his existence digging in a mine. We know Ardon's thought processes, and he was trying to be generous in his own sociopathic way, but from Peanut's POV that can look exactly like Ardon discarding a 'useful tool' on a whim because he doesn't even care about keeping it.

This accent is going to take some getting used to reading. I typically hate when authors feel the need to write any kind of thick accent. At least this one isn't overbearing the way some are. There are some authors who lay it on so thick I simply skip over any bit of dialogue containing the accent.

Ya'know unless Peanut really is secretly epic level I don't think his "stab everyone" plan is going to work out, but I suppose that is stating the obvious. It would seem that, while his intelligence has vastly improved, he is still far from being what most would consider "smart".

Still we will see how far he gets with his plan before either being convinced not to stab everyone or to bide his time in a similar to matter to Fortyfive's reason for being in the party. Or maybe he will see that Odie is still a dummy and feel sympathy for him (similar to how he feels sympathy for Barry.)

I'm finding it more likely that the intelligence boost will be temporary. It'll last just long enough to get him near the party, then he'll return to his previous state. The party will find him, wonder briefly how he escaped, then move on with status quo restored.

I...honestly hope not. I agree with previous posters that state Peanut is more an item than a character. His increased intelligence has changed this and I would like to see this change stick. I kinda like Peanut's personality, so far.

Eh...I still think Odie can be cured by other means.

Plus feeling sympathy and willing to sacrifice yourself for are two very different things. Odivallus is one of the people Peanut is considering stabbing (for not getting him away from Ardon and Fortyfive). I just can't see him making that kind of sacrifice for Odie until AT LEAST much later.

Yea the accent seems fine to me. No offense to Rich but I honestly have a harder time understanding what Durkon is saying than anything Peanut has said so far.

For me, it's definitely something to do with intentionally misspelling words to create an "accent". It's like my brain thinks there is a typo every time that character speaks and I have to mentally correct it. Peanut's isn't too grating for me because he normally speaks in short sentences and the accent bits are spread apart, so I can deal with it. Similarly Durkon is fine with me because his accent consists mainly of substituting whole words for some variant rather than intentionally spelling them wrong.

There are certainly some authors who have made me give up on entire characters, and even entire books with terrible accents though.
