North for the Summer: Eneida

[Acanous]

Your trip was a long one, despite being first class the whole way. A short drive in to Mexico City, followed by three planes to knock off the scent in case you were being traced. Flying East to West bought you some time to outrun the sun, but it was mostly used up just getting here.
Your bags are taken for you by a man of middle eastern blood, and packed into the back of a limo outside.
You've made it, with maybe an hour before sunrise. You know you can get to the Merchant Law building in about 25 minutes. Anything you want to do beforehand?

It is currently Monday Morning.

[GrassyGnoll]

Eneida strides through the airport with the barely bowed carriage of one with a certain destination. The vampire whistles hollowly at the price tag attached to her travel arrangements, remembering when a cooked bird in the hand was worth two mendingos in a ditch. She meets the chauffeur outside and lights a black cigarillo as he handles the luggage.

"Vámonos güey. No se detiene."
(No detours)

[Acanous]

You're taken to the building, a rather squat complex made larger by it's situation on the top of a hill overlooking 17th ave. The driver helps you with your bags, and a security guard inside the main floor looks only a little confused as he opens the front door.
"Hello miss. I was told to expect you before hours, but what's with the bags?"

[GrassyGnoll]

"I take my work with me," Eneida replies fluently. The bloodsucker follows her escort to the law offices. She begins to unpack before locking the door to her accommodations and retiring for the day.

[Acanous]

You notice a dark-skinned woman with raven black hair and wide, almond eyes packing a few things into a supply closet. She waves. "Welcome to Calgary. Sorry about the occomodations, but with the recent events, there's not a lot of room to go around."

[GrassyGnoll]

"Pleased to meet you. My name's Eneida. I just flew in. Do you mean to tell me we're... bunk-mates?"

The vampire cracks a quizzical grin at the woman cramping her cabin. Eneida so valued privacy. But if the Assamite had arranged it, not much could be done. The attorney sits back as she watches la morena redecorate.

[Acanous]

"Such as it is. We share the building, but I don't warm beds unless it's for a good reason. I'm Stephanie. How's the city so far?"

[Ascaloth]

A man pulls up at the Merchant Law, and walked up to the building entrance.

[Acanous]

There's a security guard at a desk inside. The double glass doors are locked, but your keen perception lets you notice a white doorbell.

[Ascaloth]

The white doorbell it is. James buzzes the alarm, waiting for the guard to come over.

[Acanous]

The guard does come over, and pushes a button on the inside. A small, well-hidden speakerbox activates.
"Evening. What's your business?"

[Ascaloth]

"I am an acquaintance of a Miss Stephanie Hale, and I was told I could find her here. May I come in?"

[Acanous]

"I'll have to buzz her. Wait here."

Grassy;
Your new aquaintence's phone rings. It's a low tune with a latin beat.
"Hello? Oh yes Charles. I wasn't expecting anyone, but I can be down in a minute to clear them up."

She clicks it off.
"Looks like I have a guest."

[GrassyGnoll]

"Nothing to write home about. I've come here to cut my teeth on administrative law practice."

The haughty attorney doesn't address Stephanie further. She waits silently for the woman to finish her menial work and vacate the room. Eneida flashes a tight smile at the nuisance as she excuses herself.

[Acanous]

Ascaloth:
The elevator dings deeper in the lobby, and you notice your compatriot from earlier walk slowly down the hall. She waves to the guard and takes a look at you through the glass.
"Oh, James! What brings you calling?"
The door hasn't been opened, yet.

[Ascaloth]

He smiled at Stephanie, giving a mock salute.

"Told you I might drop by the last time, Steph, check out who you're hanging with. Give them the little welcome to the city I gave you, because apparently that's my job now. Get to know some of the new faces, so I don't mistake them for freeloaders if I come across them in the clubs or on the street."

[Acanous]

"Heh. Well, alright, but this is a hive of scum and villainy. and Lawyers. Sure you can handle it?"

[Ascaloth]

"I'll just have myself a good, long shower afterwards. No big deal really, so c'mon, buzz me in. How's the chef working out for you the past few nights?"

[Acanous]

"Surprisingly useful." She buzzes you in.
"So what do you want to see? My stately office?"

[Ascaloth]

"Sure, if you're offering a tour. But first things first, care to introduce me to any of your friends here? I figure some of them might be out, but surely you can fill me in on the absentees."

[Acanous]

"Really not many folks here at night. Just me, the night guard Charlie, and one of the lawyers working late right now. Can't remember her name."
She hits the elevator, and it dings open. "If that's really all you're here for, you'll be out again as soon as you came. Without even bringing me a present."

[Ascaloth]

"Hey, can you blame me? You do far too good a job at being coy, I don't even know what sort of baubles you'd love. Tell me that, and I'll see what I can do to make it up to you next time."

James said, grinning all the while. This Stephanie was good; girl must be a seasoned heartbreaker.

Pity though, tonight would be all business. Care to make the introductions as we go?"

[Acanous]

"What, the two? Sure. You know Charlie the Security guard. New girl's working on something, I can give you a hello."
The elevator dings, and she makes an exit onto the floor.
"Hey, new girl, looks like it's you what has a visitor."

[Ascaloth]

"New girl, hmmm? Another recent arrival to this city, I presume?"

James mused, but smiled as he extended a hand to the unfamiliar individual.

"But where are my manners. Name's James, and I'm the representative of the Calgary Camarilla. May I have the pleasure of yours?"

[GrassyGnoll]

The chair swivels to face the latest interloper.

"Eneida Alejandra Rocio Cortes. Now, James. What brings you to our humble practice? Do you need a notary for any ongoing estate planning?"

"I just might, at some point in the future. But to the crux of my business here tonight, first. Interesting name by the way, not something I hear often around here."

James said, looking intently at Eneida with some interest. This one appeared to be quite the no-nonsense type.

"But first off, welcome to the city of Calgary. I hope you'll enjoy your stay here. May I first ask where you flew in from, as well as the purpose of your visit here?"

[GrassyGnoll]

Eneida suppresses a smirk at the perfectly trivial interpolation.

"Shouldn't it be perfectly obvious why any Kindred is in Calgary these days? I came to this city from Whittier, Los Angeles. I hopped the southern border and have been traveling luggage-class since then. My contacts within the coyotaje business would be responsible for arranging the itinerary. I doubt they'll be as forthcoming as myself."

[Ascaloth]

"Coyotaje, hmmm? I wonder what is that, again. Let us see..."

James responded pleasantly, pulling out his cell to tap at it right then and there. It took under a minute before he recognised the meaning of the word, and smiled.

"Ah, yes, of course! That makes perfect sense, though I didn't realise they operated this far north. I suppose that's not so well-known, for some very good reasons. Would they happen to be the same agents who brought you to these parts, Steph?"

"Anyway, Miss Eneida. Perhaps less than forthcoming they may be, but I would like their contact details all the same. It's quite imperative that I be aware of the influx of Kindred, especially in these troubled nights, and I'm sure they would be perfectly happy to furnish me with the details... given the proper incentives, of course."

Nodding knowingly, James located the nearest chair, and made himself comfortable.

"But, for the moment. What would be your plans for the next few nights, if I may ask? Securing new forms of accommodation, for example, or arranging for means of obtaining sustenance, so to speak. Any friends or acquaintances here, whom you may establish contact with in due time? For that matter, what Clan do you claim membership of, and whose childe are you?"

[Acanous]

"I thought you were just dropping by for a quick peek, not to carry out interrogations. If you want all our contacts, that's going to take an awfully long time, and we wouldn't want your friends getting worried about you."

[Ascaloth]

"Oh, I am in no particular rush, Steph. If you would be so kind as to compile their information so that I might drop by to receive it some other night, it would be a great help to me."

James smiled disarmingly, not looking concerned at all.

"And this is no interrogation; it's really little more than what I put you through before, if you recall. I'm just trying to get a better feel of who our mutual acquaintance Miss Eneida here is, as a person. Besides, I do have something about the city I figured I should share with you, information which you would want to spread around to your friends in turn. That, of course, will have to wait until my business here is done, which it should be any moment now."
